    The beauty of a ranch raised and handled young horse is the respect they give to their trainer.They also learn about uneven ground and become sure footed.. and the exercise they get is wonderful. I was always around stalled horses.....young and old! If I had it to "do over" I would be looking for a ranch raised foal or a ranch broke 2 or 3 yr old. I also have a liking for you bloodlines!

    Enjoyed this :) I am sure the new owners of the babies will appreciate the work your ranch does with them at this very beginning stage of being handled. The kickin?? That must be pretty common because Henson was ready for that part of it. I can see even with a young colt/filly you have to be cautious. Those kicks if landed would surely hurt. I remember your late ranch dog Lincoln ( such a good dog) took a nasty kick in the head awhile back . :(
    Thx for sharing !

    That colt looked fabulous. I flew racehorses to Australia, from the UK, to run in the Melbourne Cup. It’s so, so well Organised both on the ground and in the air and although it was a 30 hr trip, door to door, the horses took it well. I fact they only lost around 8-10 kilos on the whole trip. We flew cargo which ment we could regulate the heat and humidity in the mid hold, where they were. We had a professional flying groom and a vet in board for 8 horses plus a groom for each individual horse. Our horses had to be in quarantine for a month before the flight, in the UK, then for 2 weeks once we got to Australia. They are very, very strict on their bio security, understandably and paperwork on both ends had to be 100% correct.
    The hardest part was for the people flying, jet lag and lack of sleep was a killer 😂

      I think Loki is still a pup - but needs a little more training. I'm sure his running back and forth and periodic barking needs to be controlled. I don't profess to be a dog 🐕 trainer, but it's relatively easy to teach dogs certain basic commands, like sit, stay, down, shake a paw, etc. Lovely looking German Shepherd !! Thanks for sharing today's episode. Always interesting to see you, Henson and your favourite father-in-law, Jerry !! Have a productive and safe week !!

  • @tamijansen8025
    @tamijansen8025 Год назад +1

    For Loki only give him the comand once. If you keep saying the command over and over and he still gets rewarded at the end he will think it's okay to listen After you have given multiple commands. You can say his name.. or ehh ehh or give him a hand signal to that command. To sit I close my fist. To down (no lay down as it's too much, just down) I point to the ground. Feel welcome to message me.
