Hello YT comments I love seeing all of the player's reactions to this new update. My name is Gabriel Wang. My father is Chihwei Wang and he is the lead designer on the Super Mario Maker 2 game team here in California. He had told me that his team was originally going to make an SMB 2 gamemode, but he figured it would be best to just scrap the idea and release all the features now because the game is as popular as ever and taking into account current circumstances. Hence, the little warning for the update. If you are going to ask me whether or not there will be a Super Mario Maker 3, my dad does not know. His team has not been greenlit yet, but hopefully with all this positive feedback, it will be a yes in a year or so. I know I had nothing to do with this personally, but I just feel really happy for my Dad's work.
is your dad still working with Nintendo and can he leak more info? o_O

@@117Ender be organized with your files, I have spreadsheets for all the raw footage I have to keep track on what's done and what isn't. Make a workflow, don't try to do video and audio at the same time. First edit the video and take note on what audio problems you need to fix later. Be aware of the pacing of the video at all times. If you feel the pacing if off or you're not sure then rewatch what you just did. And finally double check every cut before continuing to the next one to avoid weird frames or weird cuts

CP2 is behind the thwomp at 35:18. You barely touch it when you hop with the dry bowl. The room was blown up when you collected CP2, so you didn't recognize it, but the game still adds 200 points for collecting it.

I was quite surprised when they added the cannon box, propeller box, and goomba mask from the original Super Mario 3D World (Although in the old game you could only use the propeller once until you touched the ground, although it had more use in 3d world stages) and then also seeing the completely new red pow box and bullet bill mask into the 3D World Theme.

0:47 so when you get most of the powerups mario haves 2 tiles of height. But with SMB2 mushroom Mario seems to be shorter, about 1.5 tiles tall. If this is the case I guess that could cause lots of unique interactions with enemies, projectiles, skewers, piranha plants and stuff. And troll potential of that would be gigantic. I mean troll creators did amazing troll setups stacking various enemies and objects causing them to have intermediate heights. But with mario having intermediate tile height to begin with i can't even imagine what we will face in the troll levels.

You have so much possibilities with worlds. A full collection of troll levels with story. The only thing left is a way to put dialog and cutscreens

Imagine GDQ hiring level creators to create entire worlds for the base of their competitions. That would actually be really cool! Imagine professional level creators who make levels designed to be speedran. No enemy spam, no Kaizo block trolls, no dev exits. Levels intended to be played at high level tournaments. They could have Kaizo specific/clear based tournaments, speedrun specific/time based tournaments, etc... that could be really cool.

I noticed that wearing the Goomba mask seems to make it so Mario doesn't trigger Thwomps, which could lead to some interesting mechanics as Thwomps are often used as triggers for contraptions or traps.
That will have a lot of interesting applications in troll levels and add an extra layer to "do I want the shiny or not?", as some contraptions may need to be triggered to complete a level, others might make getting by impossible, or contraptions might need to be triggered in a particular order to progress.
This update adds a lot of new elements that will lead to more complex levels.
Wait the actual 4 year anniversary of this update just happened-
You know what this means... right? Bowser’s big burrito world. 40 levels of fun and joy.

troll levels don't have to be mean spirited
knowledge progression and secret reverse path mind explosion levels are the literal best
My theory is that they wanted to make mario 2 a new theme, but after developing 3D world they realised it was way more resources than it was worth, and just made a powerup.
This way it won't be underdeveloped but will still have the best bits of mario 2, and they kinda took scrap code with the key and added that.
As well as this, the abundance of power ups is a pretty easy way of adding many interactions to keep the game alive for a long time since there's no more major updates
I think they wanted to make this update efficient to try and push sales while the game is still in its first year
This update is just making me even more anticipated for Grand Poo World 3, I need Barb's trolling potential to surpass the hoards of lovely jank and glitches we're gonna see in the next few months.
