If you ask for a pepperoni in Italy prople will look confused because peperoni in italian means pepper. Fave toppings are always rotating, but I like roasted veggies on them like mushrooms, peppers and zucchini. I also enjoy potato and mortadella on pizza Napoletana. And lastly, not sure if this is a traditional topping, but cherry peppers with either sausage or salami come together really well!

But don’t go to a pizzeria in Italy and expect the staff to be grateful to you for putting ketchup on their hard work and Grandmothers recipe. Be grateful to them for keeping their traditions alive and enjoy their food with all the subtleties and nuances that adding tomato ketchup just ruins. My favourite is spinach and ricotta, and for me with a drizzle of garlic infused olive oil and a side of slow roasted tomatoes or a light Bruschetta. But sometimes the best pizzas are the simple margheritas. Paired with white wine, Gin and Tonic or a good lemonade.
