It is because they can't handle the severe winter. So they think how can India possibly do this. Of course per day cost of holding on to Siachen is over 15Crores INR but the nation has decided to pay that amount. But just money never pays off for the courage and training needed for deployment.... It's all down to the men on ground. One winter in harsh Condition and Chinese militia (there are no PLA forces in Ladakh) will understand what is soldering all about..... Bol bachan and braving chilly winds -60deg is different story
@Rohit Kumar It's a rotational deployment. 3mo is minimum. Can extend beyond that too. Host of factors are responsible.
I am no expert, but acing "these tests" makes LCH the best single engine eggbeater in the world. AS350/Lama can fly higher, but they don't have enclosed "club" cabins, nor can carry as much and fly farther than "baby Dhruv". Kudos to the boffins at HAL and our brave pilots of IAF/AAC

Bangalore is tech capital of Asia. LUH is made and designed in Bangalore. So, it should be best in Asia. Heard that Chinook assembly line may be shifted to new Aerospace Park, close to Bangalore International Airport.

Shiv has flown us to Siachin & Ladakh.
Can you help in scapping Ka-226. Or explain the utility of it over LUH.
Both Ksmov 226 of Russia and HAL built LUH are 1 ton category helicopters. LUH has high altitude flying capabilities which can't be performed by Ka 226. May thete are some features in Ka 226 like Coaxial rotors etc. But that way you consider a third helicopter that will have some other feature which may not be available in LUH. Does it mean India should import from Russians?
I think you by that rule, French should by an American helicopter too. Israel should get helicopters both from Europe and America.
It is a ridiculous way of justifying import of helicopters from Russia. If quantity is an issue why can't HAL transfer technolgy to Indian Pvt sector to increase rate of production.
Tatas are already making components for Bell and others.
HAL should join with Pvt sector to expedite the development of medium and heavy lift helicopters.
I think our PSUs and defence production bureaucracy needs a hard headmaster with stick in hand. Otherwise, our agencies will continue to work in silos for their personal benefits rather than working for the benefit of the organisation.
It is understood to import Apache or Chinook but import of 1 ton helicopters is a criminal act by all concern.

i was also of same view but when i dig deeper i heard AF people saying that they need around 400 chopper of same class (minimum) & HAL can't fulfill them.. but then i think why our private industry is not intrested to jv with them.. its like 114 mrfa will make us world aviation market
Kamov ka is more fuel efficient and have double engines .... Plus we need more than 400+
@@HimadriSekharGupta It is no technological breakthrough, We are not encursging our Pvt sector to setup units if we need more helicopters, Tatas already produce many parts for Boeing, Both, Ksmov and LUH use French engines, Indian Pvt sector can use the same engine HAL should transfer technology to the Pvt infisn company do that we get helicopters in big numbers for our military as well as for export market,
@Yashvardhan ojha 1. How long will you give them something? They sold to Turky who shot down there plane. They give to Seria, they give to Kurds. At some point they will give to Pakistan. Otherwise China will give to Pakistan. Russia is giving to China too.

why does the pilot fly hugging the terrain, in such a winding path? is it for practice to avoid being shot down when hot metal starts flying ? Cuz the path seems longer than the straight one over the hills.

Show us the cockpit not snow! when you are sitting inside the cockpit, atleast give us a view of the cockpit and avionics whose pictures are not easily available in the public domain! otherwise what is the point!

How many LUH prototypes are made so far ??
There are 4 prototypes, 3 for flying and 1 for ground test.
Would be injustice to this indian made helicopter if less than 180-200 ordered.
We need to make these for police ,air ambulance and fire fighting purposes via public private partnership aviation in indian needs a push
Greece could use some of these. They still have many old UH-1 Hueys. The geography there is mountainous. Not as high as the Himalayas of course and thus they would be able to carry a bit more operating there. The relatively low cost should be attractive. Flight tests are jsut about done. Just have to continue to improve reliability and maintenance support.

Real Game changer, get rid of Russian Kamov tender, Russian equipment are nightmare to maintain
We will get both.. we actually need 400 of them.. so gett 200-200 of both are really good option.. the Kamov is unique he is modular and can carry much heavier payload. Bhai India me banega failda apne ko bhi hai aur usse uski tech bhi humari ho jayegi

Dhruv related platforms have also had maintenance issues, in part because they were new and needed more iterative improvements. They are getting much better now but there is still room for further improvement. Main issues now are need for better oversight of production and maintenance to ensure quality control and an improved logistics, training, and technical support system for maintainers both in India and for potential foreign customers. The poor service in Ecuador in particular was a problem that can be prevented with better ongoing support. Dhruv, Rhudra, LUH and LAH all share similar mechanicals and all can benefit from a more comprehensive support system for large scale operations.
