My apricot story. I live in Sacramento Ca, last year I picked a large bag of apricots from a large mature tree. I harvested the seeds then dried them out for about a week or so. Gathered all the pits, put them in a paper grocery bag and placed them in the freezer. After about two months I took it out and put the bad outdoors. After two weeks I I placed the pits in a 5 gallon bucket with newspapers and kept those damp for two weeks. Only one developed a tap root. 🤔 today may 14th I watched you tube and learned I have to remove the kernel from the pit! They are soaking in nutrient rich water probably till this evening. I will be putting them in a ziplock with damp paper towels until they develop tap roots. So it’s already 100° in my area should I put the Ziploc in the house under a LED light?
@@user-ci6vg8hg3e none yet! :( it's approaching 4 years at the end of this year and whilst I had 1 flower from it last year it has yet to produce fruit.
How often did you water it when it was a sapling? I planted mine from seed and now it's about 10 inches tall. I haven't know how much and how often to water it.

may be she died in the mean time ! i ve never seen a person with no power like her in my life !!!!!!!! i was thinking i was going to sleep , the worst presenter ever
When you planted the germinating seed in soil, did you take it out of the fridge? Where did you put it? I have some nectarine, peach and apricot seeds in the fridge now, the nectarine seed it opening and I could already see the tree almost ready to push out... I let them start germinating in coco core in a bag and than once the roots formed, added soil to a cup and let it continue germinating in the cup so that not to disturb the root/s. When do I take it out of the fridge?
I didn`t germinate my seeds in the fridge and I have no idea why people germinate their seeds in the fridge? In the wild nature when the fruit is overripe it just falls from the tree, then rot and when the seed is "free" from the flash it starts to germinate in the warm climate. So take your seedlings out of the fridge and put them in a warm sunny windowsill.
I have to germinate mine in the fridge because I live in a climate where we have summer all year round. Putting it in the fridge tricks it into believing it is winter and it needs moisture and cold temperatures to germinate. How hot does it get where you live? We have a consistent 80 to 85 degrees or higher everyday.
Deadria Hamilton you are absolutely right. Having the seeds in a fridge gives it the perfect environment for it to germinate as it prefers cold climates initially. I too had my seeds kept in the fridge over a month now and then planted it in soil which sprung up immediately. It is now almost 15 days since it is in soil and now growing well
In ur first video u put 8 seeds in the Ziploc and suddenly in the second one ...4 seeds disappeared ???? I tried that and the seeds get moldy and smelly ..so i get rid of them .. Any ideas to grow apricots in a better way.?? Thank you
I have multiple apricot trees ive grown from Seed in thier second year now and I can't find any information online about how to care for these from the seedling to actual tree stage. What do I do with them during the seedling stage? How many years should they stay potted? Prune the seedlings or just let them grow? 🤯
I literally threw a handful of apricot pots outside and now I've got at least 15 baby apricot trees growing! My question is how big do they have to get before I separate them and plant them in their own spots??
Wow this is very helpful! But I have 2 questions1. Did you plant 3 seeds in the same flower pot, or did the three plants come out of the same seed? ( I'm a beginner in the gardening things so this one might be a very stupid question but I don't know) 2. Will the fruits that it makes have the same taste as the apricot that I took the seed out of?
Hello! Thank you for compliment! At first when these seedlings are small I plant them in one pot. And then, after 3-4 weeks I transplanted each to the separate pot. Apricots are the type of fruit tree that carry all the characteristics from the mother plant and starts bear fruit on the 3d year. So choose the best apricot fruit you wanna to grow a tree from. Have a good day!
I have 6 seeds from the apricot fruit, will take the inner seed out of shell, and as shown in video will go for the process, Question is, where to place the sealed tissue paper wrapped seeds? Is it required to get seeds wet periodically? Early response will be appreciated, Regards Shall these seeds be stored in refrigerator till the grow the roots.?
What kind of soil you have prepared for the seedlings? I mean composition. Please tell the formula. I planted chilli seeds once they started sprouting in a mix of 50%coco peat and 50%sand. They started showing growth only upto 1 inch with very tiny leaves and then started dying. I don’t want the same for Apricots. Please help. I live in India so i have garden soil, sand, coco peat, vermiculite, vermicompost. Help me please.
+Amar Ashkanani Hi! Thank you for good words! If you want to grow it like a big fruit tree you have to plant you seedling outdoor utill the tree will have 1 year. So it can simply adaptive in a small age.
I have multiple trees from apricot seed. Do I have to graft my trees in order for it to bear fruit? This was told to me by local nursery, with seemingly well-informed staff. I was told that if I graft it, it has to be done while tree is young.
Hi, the graft is for immediate fruit production. Most fruit trees grown from seed will need a few years before they produce fruit. If you graft a sapling onto a mature fruit tree it should produce fruit once the graft fully heals. This is what I understand from my research. I have yet to try this. What I am currently attempting is cloning an apricot tree from my grandparents garden.

Hello. At the first video you said the seed must stay in that bag in a warm and dark place for 10 days. But at the begining of this video you said it waited 1,5 months. Why is this? Thanks in advance.
Hello! Thanks for a comment! In my region it depends on a weather. If it is hot and sunny outside and hot some of seeds sprouted in 10-15 days. But if it is rainy and cold weather my seeds sprout for about a month.
Apricots are grafted to reproduce the same variety exactly which doesn't happen with seeds ( each seed gives an entirely new variety). The cutting of variety they wish to get fruit from is called the scion. The root stock is selected for size control, disease resistance and earlier fruiting. The fruit produced from a grafted tree is pure apricot, even if the tree is grafted onto plum root stock, because the scion (upper part) controls the fruit and their isn't any DNA exchange between the scion and root stock. Own root trees are rarely for sale because there is no way to know the vigour of the variety and you'll often have to wait longer for the fruit. You can of course grow your own from seed. As there is no DNA exchange between the scion and the root stock, the fruit and its seeds are pure, so a seed taken from an apricot will grow an apricot even if the parents were grafted. However due to being close genetically an apricot can sometimes cross pollinate with a plum giving rise to a hybrid seed but isn't common unless deliberately hand crossed. Ziagers does these cross pollination to get the hybrid plumcots pluots and Apruims. The apricot family has more than one species so it is common for different species of apricots to be bred together to improve traits like frost resistance to try get apricots growing in colder areas that can't grow them at current (the cot series), these are still considered pure apricots as both parents are in the apricot family unlike plums. I hope this clears it up.
Ummm... no. Apricots still exist in the wild of the Caucasus mountains, where they came from to begin with. Now while it is true that nursery-bought apricot trees ARE grafted onto a different rootstock, it is also the case that the rootstock you grow from seeds is the more wild type. The resulting fruit trees are DEFINITELY not the same as the fruit you might have eaten to get the seeds. In our case, the trees had fewer flowers, thus fewer fruits some years later. It takes about 5 years to get fruit from an apricot tree. This is one of the other reasons that people tend to just buy nursery 'bare-root' trees in spring (now!) and plant them. Saves a couple of years of waiting. GoatGuy

From apricot seed grows the base on which it was grafted and not apricot tree, because PURE apricots dont exist any more!!!
+GREGOR VOGRINEC thanks for your comment. If pure apricots don't exist, so what we have? Can you explain?
