- You have the love the story behind Eric Grace's beautiful wheelstanding '66 Chevy Impala! Eric originally bought the 396 Big Block /Turbo 400 '66 car from the original owner after seeing it on his paper route before he even got his driver's license at the age of 16! Eric who has owned the car for 36 years, originally drove the Impala year round. Still having the original 396 engine Eric has had different engines in it, and is currently powered by a Steve Schmidt 622ci engine. The Impala retains an all stock suspension configuration with 10.5w tires squeezed into the stock rear wheel wells. The massive 300 ft wheelstand was launched at only 3400 rpm as the track at the Byron Dragway was on kill! On this day running the brackets with the Smokin 188 Car Club out of the Sauk City area in Wisconsin Eric was cutting great lights and catching his opponents and lifting before the finish and normally runs 8.80's to low 8.90's. Best time to date is an 8.79@154mph. 10-15-16 #impala #wheelstander #victoryedcolorado

This car looks so right with a stock frame and no tubs. Huge wheel tubs and a tube chassis kill the soul of a car. Hi 8's with mufflers on 11.5 tires!!!! Sweet ride
Those are some of the gnarliest wheelies I have ever encountered...
That first wheel stand was epic. Beautiful car!
He really went ahead and crossed the street 😂
Nice! Reminds me of one of the baddest flying bricks of my time the Nick Scavo Impala.
How in the hell do you get a 4000 lbs. impala up in the air over 60' feet on two wheels at those speeds is ridiculous!!!
I dig it........
Torque n Horsepower.
HOLY SHIT!!! Ending up in the other lane and still beating the other lane...9 ohs and skinny tires...OUCH!
Totally Awesome!! And a No No !! LOLOLOLHAHA
beautiful car, impressive wheel stands also. . .
Love how the 65-66 can accept so much meat out back Indy wheel wells. My mother ran Caprice tail light lenses on her 66 ss
Love the Chevys, great wheelie😁
All steel, all motor, lots of grunt, built right . 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️
he needs to enter that on the wheel stand contest at Byron
them are some wild passes👍
hello from wisconsin...my dad had a 66, wish he still had it
Love it,awesome ride and clean too.
I have too one for lowriding and one for racing luv it
Awesome!
Beautiful car ....I'm working on a 66 Biscayne of my own.
Damn that car is so freaking beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍❤️❤️
Great job...as always!
Thanks!
I’m building a 66 myself, I would love more info on the car and chassis.
A Beast..
Very Nice Ride Old 66 Big Block Chevy Nice Video
Thanks!
Have to ask what kind of fuel economy did you get I need to know what kind of hurt my wallet is looking at in a few years working on a 66 right now
Miss read your comment though it "road in" not "ride"
@@redneckwithajeep5001 all motor running 8s with a carburetor?
Try 4-6 mpg.....and I'm being generous👍
How'd that "stock suspension" handle 4 foot wheelies?
Looks a lot like my second car - except the engine, of course. As you probsbly know, some ladder bars might keep the front end down.😉
Wow! If He Win The 2023 Wheelstand Contest at 390 ft
Bad ass Chevrolet
WOW
Looks very similar to Nick Scavo’s 65 Imp! 😍
The owner of this 66 is a good friend.. there is a poster of Scavo's 65 in his office .
Does anyone know who did the suspension and chassis on this car and the set up? Building a 66 and need help on the B body chassis and suspension.
How long is the drag way? All motor 396 on 1/4 mile in 8s seems incredible
WOW!!!!
That's it again drive anywhere
I had a 66 Impala SS with a similar build. Not nearly as nice as this one in 1976. God I miss that car.
Dad had one when I was a baby, I used to play in the back seat growing up it was like a family member, it was the very reason I graduated high school bc was my 1st car and it got me into cars, he tossed me the keys at graduation night, my aunt whispered into his ear something and it was 30 years later I found out wht she said to him, (I bet that hurt) lol he replied (you just dont know) with a grin hahaha , so graduation night I was under the hood with the thought this was my friend who carried myself home from being born and my best friend growing up, as a teenager I loved that car dearly, modification after modification growing up and it still was my friend and all the memories made , on the date that car was born I wander if she knew the good and bad times in life, well it was stolen from me when I was almost 30 years old, I still have nightmares at the age of 47 years old but I always felt I'd find another identical and not replace her but have another to enjoy. Well wasn't even looking but just yesterday a identical I mean very same car all original down to the factory 38k hubcaps!! 327 auto same car and just like it has been in a time capsule , all 100% original and it will be here monday!!!!! A gift from above and wasn't even looking for one, god knows our deepest desires and the other day a guy asked me for 2 dollars for fuel so I gave him 5 bucks so he could get home to get his wallet, and then same day a ladyfriend I know was broke and I asked her if she needed 20 bucks till payday,,, basically I believe this find is my reward for helping and doing good in life, but anyway join my channel MoodyblueMotorsports and watch this build of the impala and some car builds racing and fun!!
What size the the tires in the back
What rear end ratio he running?
Howz that Steve Schmidt built 622 cid Engine Running now ?? This is 2021 and this Awesome video is a little old. Has the car gone any faster than it's best of 8.79 @ 154 mph ?? Pretty Awesome !! Launching at 3400 rpm ? Torquey Sucker huh ? LOLOLOLHAHA
The car was sold to the Netherlands, to a friend of mine... It had a 598 with 2 stages in it... That was at least a decade ago...
Still did the wheelies every single time...
He sold it.. new owner did 2 runs in the car... he was afraid of itmm. The guy died... standing in a corner ever since...
That car is violent ".....four bolt main pump gas ? 4:11 gear ⚙?
Anything is possible, but, since I own a 66'Impala SS IM HAVING A HARD TIME WITH STOCK FRAME.IT'S NOT TAGGED AN SS,WHICH WOULD HV A 4LINK REAR,AND IF YOU EVER SAW A STOCK 66'SS FACTORY WELDS,THERE IS NO WAY THAT CAR IS DOING 300 FOOT WHEELIES ALL DAY AT THE TRACK,MY FRAME WAS GONE OVER,REINFORCED, WITH ALL HOTCHKINS SUSPENSION PARTS AS WELL,BY PRO'S,AND STILL FAILED THE VERY FIRST HIGH REV BURNOUT,MAYBE THE ROLL CAGE SAVES IT FROM FALLING APART,BUT I HV MY RESERVATIONS ON STOCK FRAME,9 SECOND CAR FROM 66
Well it certainly doesn't have to massive a solid roller ..
When it comes to big blocks, Chevrolet is king
Superstocks
will the real man plz stand up
Did he just win the race for the other guy?
Just putting on a show! 👊
@@victoryredcolorado why let down such a good wheel stand. :)
LOLOLOLHAHA
Is it for sale
I imagine so, he has a top sportsman '63 vette that's his money pit now
Stock suspension mach Jesus
where's the 8 sec pass ? Did I miss it? title is bullshit
If you notice he dialed in for 8.94 and although he didn't hit the 8's it is in fact an 8 sec car. Also on the big wheelie he went through way ahead of the other car who ran 9.24 so that was easily in the 8's despite being wheels up for 300ft and coming up a few times after
Title didnt say "Impala makes 8 second pass. It was saying the Impala is capable of running in the 8s... Lighten up wood ya...
Baddass car!! MInd giving some specs on that 622?
