- ET can confirm ‘The Real’ has been canceled after 8 seasons on the air. Following the news, Loni Love, who co-hosts the daytime talk show with Jeannie Mai, Adrienne Houghton and Garcelle Beauvais, weighed in on Instagram.
I’ve been watching this show since it started back in 2013. I was 17 years old at the time and still in high school. 8 years later I’m 25 and out of college and all I can say is that this show really made me smile through some really hard times and I took soooo much advice from the ladies. It’s a real shame it’s being cancelled.
I know the feeling but please these women are not the standard they are outliers trying to reach you so that they can turn you into their stories I hope you find something way much better.

I grew up with these ladies. I feel like I’ve gotten to know them so personally and they were with me when I was alone and felt alone. I’ll definitely miss the show.

I am super sad about the show ending. I’ve learnt so much about my self through them sharing their experiences. And somewhat grown up with them, I’m 26. But everything comes to an end. So I’m happy for the growth in myself and each of the ladies have so many opportunities ahead so I’m eager to see them win!

I love this show it was and is honestly super iconic. Their prime was when it was tamera, loni, adrienne, and jeannie. Their energy was immaculate and I swear it just never felt the same since. Will dearly miss this show :(

Hear! Hear! So many of the toxic malicious shows lasted for years and years. Now a show that actually did so much good for building character, inspiring, uplifting and encouraging people is gone....its the way of the world it seems. Keep the dross and discard the gold.😔

This was my favorite daytime show until the pandemic. Season 7 was really hard to watch but we knew it was temporary. But when I saw that season 8 wasn't bringing back the audience like every other show was doing by this time, I knew it was over. This new format doesn't work for a show like The Real. The energy between the hosts and the live studio audience was special. It was part of The Real's magic.
What? This show is therapy. This show helped alot of people in so many different ways. They made us laugh, educated us, opened our minds to learning new things. They taught us how to make cocktails 🍸. They cried with us. Where are the sponsors to save this show.

I've just recently saw it but the platfom is different and not the same it looks and seems like a different tv show network unfortunatly but the messages & stories has always been very inspiring to me I used to love watching that show.

😢😭😪 I’m SO SAD the show is ending, I didn’t want this to be true! I’ve been on the ride since day 1 and loved it every step of the way! I feel like I grew up with the show and it’s hosts! I wish it could stay on for 20 more years, I wanted to have daughters so they could grow up and watch this show with me and see what these smart, capable, beautiful minority women have made. I’m devastated 😖, it is the end of an era and the culture will most certainly feel the void. The show was a good one but had truly changed in recent times. It was a light hearted show about sharing life experiences, playing games and keeping it real. In recent times it became political especially during the elections, then a bit more about race, then about advertising craft hosting lorry loads of new faces, Jeanie turned to a psychologist not just someone sharing her experiences but someone sounding like an expert on life matters. Garcelle was a great addition to the show but the creative direction of the show didn’t quite catch on. Leave when the ovation is loudest. Loni didn’t need to put out an explanation. 8 seasons is great and the signs were clear.

I agree there must have been growth but there was an obvious shift from sharing heartfelt experiences and lessons learned to opinionated stances about what is wrong or right. I still enjoy watching but I also understand the cancellation. It wasn’t out of nowhere and I wouldn’t blame Covid. It is time for new bigger and better things.
Facts I loved Jeanie in the beginning she was the cool gal with cool stories then she became an a psychologist and kept interrupting everyone else, she said the chocolate thing🙄 and then she just became overbearing.
And true the real started off as a fun girly gal show to a political oh no u can't say this people started getting dragged it focused way too much on race it's time has came and WENT

I totally agree. We all still needed that light hearted talk and experiences in life not the politics and looking for racism everywhere. We don’t need another unbearable The View where if you disagree with those closed minded hosts you are a racist homophonic transphobic vile person.
It definitely changed as Loni got bigger, the messages were corny, and the show ran it's course. I really liked Amanda and not obe of them could compete with her
The Real was my favorite show so I’m really sad but now I can binge watch old episodes for now but I’ll always be a die hard fan of the show and the ladies and hopefully somewhere in the future they’ll do the show again.

When you have such a dynamic group like this it’s hard to come by another. It will a very long time till we get a show with dynamic similar to them....

I've been watching the show since it started and really enjoyed watching it but honestly, I saw this coming because the show is not as good as it was before. They really kept it real back then and the energy was warm and inviting not anymore though.

And it angered me when this radio host was putting Loni down, saying all of them would do good except for Loni, I think Loni is smart & really has her thing together, he was putting her down about her weight & her boyfriend, he said when they do finally cancel the Real. I love these women, we have seen them go through so much, best wishes for their careers going on. I'm so glad for Jeannie, she has changed SO much, found a love that made her a better person.

I remember when this show had its pilot test run episode and I was all for it. Was hoping it would be picked up for a full season and it did! I loved the show but tbh when Tamar and Tamara left the show just wasn’t the same anymore. There was a dynamic that the OG cast had that couldn’t be recreated, not even with Amanda Seals or Garcelle. It lost its spark so I wasn’t surprised it was cancelled.
I love this show and have been watching it since the beginning. But tbh things were never the same after the originals started leaving/being replaced :/

Meh can’t say I’m surprised, we all saw it coming. Once covid hit, it just wasn’t the same anymore. They lost their chemistry and let’s be honest, it got boring. And they stayed filming at home for a whole year while other shows went back to the studio. Once they got back in the studio, they still didn’t have an audience or a table to sit at. They wouldn’t even get up to welcome guests that came on the show. Imo, they all outgrew it but stayed for the checks and it showed.

It was definitely a favorite. We really fell in love with all the girls and a kinship with them all getting to know them through the show and seeing them thrive each one on their own was beautiful to see and being able to relate to them on different levels. Thanks for letting us in to a piece of your lives through this show.
I started watching this show after Tamar Braxton left, she got on my nerves so bad. I really loved the chemistry of just Tamera, Loni, Jeannie and Adrienne. Any time they tried to add a different host it hurt the show. After Tamera left I stopped watching , just wasn't the same.
Tamar added the spice and extra flavor the show needed. The show and hosts became too "politically correct" after she left. More boring, basically.
@@ThaShiznit1986 I agree the show was too politically correct at times, however Tamar was just such a loud, look at me kind of person. My husband and I have a sports bar we go to occasionally because they just make one of the best hoagie sandwiches I've ever had and its near the college UGA. When we go on Saturday nights there's this same chubby blonde girl who's always sitting at the end of the bar and she's so loud you can hear her all through the restaurant. It's obviously to draw attention to herself and Tamar reminds me of this type of person.
I genuinely wish there was a way “WE” as an audience could veto this cancellation, I don’t think they (whom ever made the decision) realize how IMPORTANT the show is and it’s TIMELESS effect/influence to the hardcore fans (ME)!

I’m going to miss this show, so much. I’m sad that it just got cancelled after eight seasons, even though it deserved a ninth season. I will miss the show. I hope that Tamar will amends with Loni and Jeannie, like she did with Adrienne and Tamera.
Though Tamar seemed like a lot to handle and often times extra, I have come to actually understand her stance on so many things and so I will simply trust her judgment if she chooses to stay away from anybody. It is nice to get along with people but may not always be the safest thing to do.
I mean you would think her & jeanie would be cool since jeanie seems like a sincere person but loni 😊 that seems like a different story a different pill to probably swallow. 😕😐🤔I was new this season for season 8 so I don't know all that happend behind the scenes with them but I heard that loni got tamar fired and I even saw a thubnail clip on the wendy show, showing Tamar confirmed it, so I don't know yeah maybe it might be true. However even though she wasnt on the show anymore hopefully they can make amends and get passed this because even though I'm new I have been watching some clips of the past woth tamar with them and she seems to be making loni laugh every single time it as almot as if she was the comidan of the show too before loni became the one & only permanent one I'm just saying😄🤷🏽♀ I mean I like loni and how funny she is too I'm just saying🥴😏

It's time for Jeannie, Garcelle, Adrienne & Jeannie (hopefully Tamera too) to start their own show. Forget television- if they did a weekly video podcast on Spotify similar to how Joe Rogan has his setup, I'd absolutely tune in. I'm devastated by this.
The show was done when Tamar Braxton left. She was the show. She was the real. She was funny and charismatic and crazy in a good way. I enjoyed watching her. And when she left the show went downhill.

I disagree. Although Tamar was a great cohost, the show was able to win an Emmy without her. Plus the show continued on for 6 more years without her. If the show got canceled a year after they fired her, I would agree with your comment. But the show has had many success without her.

The ratings actually went up when she left 🤷🏻♀️ I personally don’t mind Tamar, but this is simply not true.
They won an Emmy "after" Tamar left the show, so obviously they proved that she wasn't needed to succeed. They last 5 more year's after her departure.

I will miss The Real!! A lot!!! I’m telling you, and just ask my family: this was my favorite show that I would look forward to watching every single day, five days out of the week. Like another person said on here in the comments, this show made me laugh and even cry when watching certain episodes. I loved seeing all of the ladies together who got along and even when they didn’t agree with one another they made up and hugged and even laughed and got over it! What happened?! I know the show got a lot of views, so why is it being canceled?! I don’t get it. Anyway I hope the show will reconsider staying on the air. And other shows have continued even with pandemic. There are shows that have been on for years! I just hope that they talk it over with whoever is in charge bc this is MY show! Gracelle was the best on the panel and I wish her more success and hosting with mature women instead of young minded women.
For me, letting go of Tamar.....then Tamara.....is was killed the show! Truth had to be told!!!

I just spoke about it being canceled!! They did a show about children being taught about trans and gay. I can't with these women.
I have been watching this show for a few years. This show has a great impact on me.They talk about life, love, politics, etc.
There are topics which are a real eye opener and made me evaluate my life.
I which if you guys return to daytime talk show and if not thanks for always making the viewers want more. Good luck. God bless all of you.
