@@jgibson7893 The Ravens did the same thing to him in the 2020 playoffs and he was completely healthy then. I get that a guy that's carried the offense for a team all year is gonna want to be on the field for a playoff game but I really don't think he should have played. He looked noticeably hobbled every time he touched the ball
You forgot to mention that Quinn put those stats up at SMU while playing alongside Courtland Sutton, who was named 1st team all AAC that season and would go on to become an NFL pro-bowler
I think one of the issues is that there's even more variance at the high school level in leagues and teams that at any other level. A guy that would be a superstar in Vermont or something might not even be a starter at one of those 6-A teams in Texas. You can even see the variance within the divisions of a state. I'm not saying that's always the case, but it's probably one of the contributing factors for some players achieving so much and then falling short at higher levels where the competition increases. I've also always suspected that, without the challenge of comparable players, really successful high school athletes in that position aren't properly prepared or trained for the competition they encounter once they move up. It's a real shock going from being able to muscle people around in high school to having to rely on knowledge and skill in college.
I played against Chuba Hubbard in High School. Games were just a walk through for him, just faster than anybody so could always run a sweep outside and he’d score. Now to see him in the NFL on a playing field level to him and be caught running wide just makes me realize how god gifted pro athletes are that are successful.
That doesn’t apply to Quinn though. He played 5A in Louisiana which is the highest Level and The state of Louisiana produces the most NFL draft picks per Capita in the Nation.
I remember Doug Williams said Jay Gruden was so upset they didn't pick him earlier in the 4th or 5th round but finally calmed down when they drafted him with the last pick. I liked the pick at the time because he did accomplish a lot in college after he left LSU.
Kinda makes sense when you think about it. I’d imagine most NFL players played and dominated both ways in high school, as they’re most likely by far the best player on their HS teams unless they go to a school like IMG Academy or something
Love these type of profile stories. You bring the stats and most importantly the careers of ALL kinds of players to the spotlight. Keep up the great work !
Honestly, I didn't really know much of Trey Quinn's backstory, but when I saw him in Washington, I thought he was pretty solid, definitely worth a 7th round pick. Could've been a solid underneath slot guy if he didn't get hampered by injuries.
High school competition is so variable and players aren't always fully grown. It's not a surprise that a lot of HS leaders are just OK at the next level.
I'd say he was more than just OK. Played in big moments at LSU, caught 114 balls his junior year at SMU, and played two seasons in the NFL. That's pretty good.
I went to school with Trey. I was a freshman when he was a junior. The whole team loved him because he was the go to guy, they’d give him the ball and he’d take it down field every time. The thing that wasn’t mentioned here concerning Trey and LSU was that the year before Trey graduated, LSU recruited Desean smith out of Barbe. He was a big receiver, 6’5 250. Les Miles even visited campus because he liked Desean so much. We all kinda felt like Trey flew under the radar after that, because Les already recruited Desean and Les was stubborn in that regard. Once Les found his star recruit at one school, he wasn’t going look at that same school a second time. There was also the size difference factor, Trey was faster but smaller than Desean at 6’0 185. LSU is one of those schools where they tend to favor bigger kids over smaller but faster kids. Trey ended up going to LSU anyway which we all loved. He’s one hell of a player.
I know the pain of having struggles in a game & coaches phasing you out of your targets... Reminds me of my college days, had a TOUGH game against Rochester University my freshman year IN A DAMN SCRIMMAGE & my coach just gave up on me. I feel like some of this football stuff is depressing in a way because you have to give up like so much time just to workout and get better at the sport but some can’t commit and don’t even make it to the college they wish to play for. I give so much respect to athletes for that.

I can talk about Dorial Green-Beckham that you mentioned at the start of video. My high school played against him, in fact he beat the record against us his senior year. What's really surprising here is that apparently at SMU, Quinn survived 2 years of Chad Morris's coaching without forgetting how to play football entirely (BTW, in all seriousness, Morris may well be why he didn't stay in college for his senior year; when he declared for the draft Chad had just left SMU for Arkansas 3 weeks before)
Yo KTO you should make a video about on what punters/kickers were the best at passing the ball or who has the most touchdowns. Haven’t done any research but I bet in the history there has been some unicorns throughout history. Big fan dawg keep it up regardless
This is typical since QB and WR are more co dependent on the talent around them. A top QB could go to a team where the receivers or scheme is vastly different from his high school, and likewise with a reciever as you proved in this vid. Not to say runningbacks don't suffer the same thing, but very much less so. At the end of the day if you can run, and have vision, you're gonna be pretty productive no matter where you are. Also fun fact, one of the guys on the rushing list, Kevin Parks Jr is one of my good friends, and my wife went to school with Tony Baker on that list.
Derrick Henry is in the conversation for the most dominant pure running back of all time. What that dude did college/ high school and the nfl is insane. Especially since the only way to hamper his production is for him to get hurt .
Henry really is the exception in every category. Most exceptional HS players have their whole team structured around them. They’re the feature. Also they might benefit from a weak league or a down year by their main rivals. Then college usually sorts them out. Shows their true skills in a fair fight. Except if you’re Derrick Henry. Then you are the top RB in college too. Of course many college stars don’t pan out in the NFL for similar reasons. No longer pandered to, better competition… unless you’re Henry. Then you lead the league in yards for a month after you stop playing due to injury. It takes multiple games for the second best professional rusher to catch up. That’s insane. He’s unreal. He packed on 247lbs and ran a 4.54. Faster than this WR at 203lbs.
They liked him in Washington, they were really impressed with him but then he got injured and they let him go and he has bounced around teams since. Wishing nothing but the best for him
I got run routes with Dorial and maty maulk at qb teaching hightschool quarterbacks how to throw, it was very fun to run with dorial very nice when I was talking to him

Then the dude who got the job who shall remain nameless commented "more like Lack Charles lol". they deleted the picture the next day. idk if he kept that job or not.
God damit KTO. As soon as I saw where you were going towards the end I knew it was gonna be Derrick Henry, but you didn't show the double stiff arm run vs JAX in the pros lol. Still one of the most insane athletic feats I've seen from a player in the NFL imo just treating grown men like rag dolls.
Best way I described high school, college, and NFL football levels. The talent level per team at the high school level could literally be day and night. Once a high school athlete goes and play ball in college. The talent and skill level really shows because the players are handpicked but then it comes down to the player selecting the school they want to play for to maximize their talent/skill and improve their skills and talents (Of course, not all schools are the same along with coaches). However, a players athleticism could be a factor at the collegiate level to help give them that draft boost to be a high pick. But once a player attempts to make their mark in the NFL, there's a huge difference in football knowledge/IQ, skill/talent as a player, team talent, head coach or position coaches, and organization that simply could crushes a player's dream of being an NFL star regardless of their stats at the collegiate level or high school recruit rating. Of course, we've seen players with rare talent and skill that come out of nowhere in the NFL level due to being signed by an organization with a competent head coach and front office that could build up a player and turn them into an NFL superstar. At the same time, we've seen countless of players that are talented as of means of skill/football IQ/and etc, but they were undervalued by NFL scouts (Take Tom Brady for example or Cooper Kupp (Eastern Washington), Adam Thielen (Minnesota State), Julian Edelman (Kent State), Khalil Mack (Buffalo), Antonio Brown (Central Michigan University), Kurt Warner (Northern Iowa), Tony Romo (Eastern Illinois), Jimmy Garoppolo (Eastern Illinois), and the list goes on and on. We've also seen very talented and skillful players at the NFL level but were on a terrible team with a terrible organization (Lions, Dolphins, Jaguars, and Washington (I'm sure you could name others but these are my worse of the worse teams with a terrible organization front office and team owner without adding in their head coaches)). It's difficult when scouting a player for a number of reason to be honest and fair since you have to factor in a number of things such as the division they played in, the talent their team had during their time playing at the colligate level, the talent they faced, and etc. But just because a player's path to the NFL isn't the usual playing at a top D1 school, there's always talent that will surprise scouts, teams, and fans when it shows on the field when given the chance. At the same time, there's talented players that waste it all away (Josh Gordon), and there were players that straight up were a disaster from the start that were drafted high during the draft (Roberto Aguayo, Justin Blackmon, JaMarcus Russell, and the list goes on and on).
The 15 to 22 year old transformation is different for a lot of guys. Throw in the drastically changing gameplay, and you'll notice that some guys who weren't top recruits will flourish at a level where former studs fall apart.
I recently picked Madden 20 back up for a Washington franchise and didn’t know about his high school career until now but I’m happy to at least say I brought him some of the nfl production he never actually got as my backup slot guy. Still had to drop him after yr 2 tho, that 40 time really hurt his speed stat
It's funny about Kirby Moore coming out of high school I think he was much more sought after than his brother Kellen Moore. While he wasn't a bad WR, I think in hindsight its pretty clear his numbers were propped up by playing with one of the best college QBs of all time in high school.
It's weird how Cooper Kupp ended up at Eastern Washington but I'm an Oregon and Ram fan. I saw Kupp single handedly keeping his team in the game against the Ducks so I was stoked when the Rams drafted him.
Illinois all time leading rusher with 9054 yards and 158 rushing touchdowns was James Robinson who plays for the jags now only had 2 offers out of high school according to 247 sports and he played at Illinois state which is FBS
I actually remember when Kirby Moore used to play for Boise State with his brother Kellen. He was a decent receiver but you’re right he was mostly average
The 40 times were different because one was hand time and the other was a laser. Hand time you have to add .24 to the clock. Essentially making it the same time
He looked a lot bigger around the combine era. I wonder if he tried to put weight on to prove he could be quick and still absorb contact over the middle. I mean, if you’re a great route runner with quickness out of the break and good hands with a 4.5? You’re golden
The general rule for 40 times that are timed by a stopwatch is to add 2 tenths to it. I automatically do it, when you said 4.39 I said his real time is a 4.6 and that proves accurate; 4 years of training took .05 off of it.
Not my old high school coaches, they didn't even make sense, they would have us run in pairs. There were times where you can beat the guy next to you and the guy next to you gets a faster time lol
When he started talking about inflated numbers in high school. If you look at my high school rosters from my sophomore year to senior year I shrink an inch and gain weight every year… idk where they got the measurements lol
You should do a video about all the 99 overall ncaa football players from the games, i just saw a list from 03-14 would probably take 2 videos but would be interesting. Love watching your videos!

Shout to Trey Quinn rocking that STL Cards hat though 😤😂
Great video as always!
It's funny about Kirby Moore coming out of high school I think he was much more sought after than his brother Kellen Moore. While he wasn't a bad WR, I think in hindsight its pretty clear his numbers were propped up by playing with one of the best college QBs of all time in high school.
I was living in lake charles when trey was in hs even went to a few games to see...the boy was good real good
It's weird how Cooper Kupp ended up at Eastern Washington but I'm an Oregon and Ram fan. I saw Kupp single handedly keeping his team in the game against the Ducks so I was stoked when the Rams drafted him.
Illinois all time leading rusher with 9054 yards and 158 rushing touchdowns was James Robinson who plays for the jags now only had 2 offers out of high school according to 247 sports and he played at Illinois state which is FBS
as a Washington fan I was super surprised to here trey quinn held records in college because he wasn't very good for us
Yo. More videos like this would be awesome
I actually remember when Kirby Moore used to play for Boise State with his brother Kellen. He was a decent receiver but you’re right he was mostly average
I had the privilege of watching sage surratt #4 all time several times while I was in highschool. Him and his brother Chazz are incredible athletes
it usually comes down to just being so much better than the competition around you, most kids are all-state talent, just not all-nation
I think that the 40 yard dash is the second most worthless thing that they do at the NFL combine behind the bench for reps.
Should be power clean
As a Rams fan, he probably could've been what Coop was for us his first few years. Like 600-900 receiving yards
Lol no. Kupp is way more talented than Quinn. It's not even close. The only reason they're comparable is...you know why.
@@TyTimeIsAwesome yeah he reminds me more of Hunter Renfrow... for some reason
As a titans fan I loved this ending. My titans and Derrick Henry almost never get any love
its interesting the most of the top guys all time in high school just slow down in college. But in the running game, its very different.
Shows that talent isn't everything, especially for Dorial Green-Beckham

Love the videos man keep it up and thank you
Kirby Moore was a beast at Boise State 🙌🔥🐴🧡💙
Great video as always should have used NFL highlights of Henry if you could have though
Love the way this ended😂
The 40 times were different because one was hand time and the other was a laser. Hand time you have to add .24 to the clock. Essentially making it the same time
He looked a lot bigger around the combine era. I wonder if he tried to put weight on to prove he could be quick and still absorb contact over the middle. I mean, if you’re a great route runner with quickness out of the break and good hands with a 4.5? You’re golden
Trey is a solid reciever... He's under 6'0" and closer to 180lbs... Reminds me of Brandon stokely
Watched Mike hart in high-school when he had the rushing title he was like 170 pounds but I think he ended up the Michigan rush leader
0:52 is that the same JC Jackson that’s a pro bowl corner this year??
Jerald Christopher “JC” Jackson yup. Explains his fantastic hands
This kid is from my home town. Barbe usually always have a stand out player
How bout the legend from Polk High around Chicago?
As a raider fan I would take him on my raiders rn right now
You got one hunter renfrow, you don't need a second
@@phunki1696 Who wouldnt want 2 Renfrows?
Well the raiders cut him
Who got cut
@@JacionBryant Quinn did. 3 teams have cut him already.
that 4th guy with 880 yards at 0:48 mark... That's JC Jackson, All Pro corner for the NE Patriots
You Need to bring back *the Meet The Series* back
I have a idea for a video, can you tell about the worst retire game for a legend? I remember the final dan marino's game
I used to love Quinn when he played for my Washington team!
Doriel Green Beckham was from Hillcrest which is one of my high schools opponents
It's crazy that Bailey Z put up nearly 6,000 yards 63 td's in one season this year at college.
When he started talking about inflated numbers in high school. If you look at my high school rosters from my sophomore year to senior year I shrink an inch and gain weight every year… idk where they got the measurements lol
Well for Kirby Moore it helps when your brother is Kellen Moore for most career Rec TD’s
You should do a video about very high recruits going to small colleges
Bro, this guy is just next level, it’s been 5minutes and he already has 30 comments including mine
Trey Quinn was a beast but one of those clips was him getting a play on my team the Lafayette Lions and let me tell you, we were NOT good lmao
