The fabulous costumes were by Helen Rose - After seeing the three movies she did at Fox (Hello, Frisco Hello, Coney Island and Stormy Weather) Louis B. Mayer of MGM snapped her right up and she remained at MGM for the rest of her career. When Rose was assigned to dress Judy Garland and Angela Lansbury in THE HARVEY GIRLS, (1945) Mayer instructed Rose to copy the look of these Fox films as much as possible.
Nothing today like the old musicals. The beauty, the costumes, the singing and dancing. Wonderful entertainment ! So glad we have TCM channels.
thanks so much for this....love alice faye, she lit up the screen.....this is one of her best!.....not to mention the over the top costumes!
