Not silly at all. Music is the closest thing to mind control that exists. It can change your mood, it can make you move, it can bring back old memories. It’s magic.
I just can't help but get this deep nostalgic feeling every time I listen to an Andrew McMahon song...please tell me someone else knows what I'm talking about? His sound is just so perfect.
I think it's cause a lot of us listened to SoCo and have kinda followed along and are reminded of well, all our lives. each album for me puts me back to a specific part in my life.
kao wouldnt really call it punk rock... maybe pop-punk.. or indie punk, but to group him with the likes of the ramones or sex pistols would be a detriment to how amazing Andrew really is. He did his own thing and it created the wave of folk-punk that we see today
This song reminds me of winter of 2015 when I was single, spending a lot of time with my friend and hanging out with many different girls but had nothing serious than friends with benefits. I am now happily married, have a wonderful 4y old boy. But man, this nostalgia!…
I heard this song for the first time the other night playing from the outdoor speakers at Azteca restaurant. I instantly found what it was and sought to get a copy for myself by copying this stream into an mp3 file for my phone.
Just based on the songs that have been released, it really seems like going solo has brought out the best in him again. Glad to have been a fan for so long
Headlight in the driveway You stand in the window waiting The stars are out tonight But do you know what stars are? Balls of fire burning up the black space Falling from the landscape, exploding in the face of God
Just saw these guys live before Panic! at the Disco and I have to say that they did such a great job!! The performance was high energy and so much fun!! Definitely earned a new fan.
I took the train home, facing backwards Another hopeless chase Echo Park, indian summer I wrote a new song about your new life Like steps I retrace Block letters in your little black notebook, yeah Flashbacks get me close, I'm almost there Headlights in the driveway You stand in the window waiting The stars are out tonight One million fires burning Out there on the high dive You dance with your headphones on And I could watch you all night long Dancing to someone else's song Oh, dancing to someone else's song Oh, dancing to someone else's A black jacket, a blue motorbike Pass the mission in the moonlight Teenagers in the alley kissing Smell the gas burn, saw your street sign I'm doing eighty in a forty-five Throwing shadows you could hear if you listen, yeah Flashbacks get me close, I'm almost there Headlights in the driveway You stand in the window waiting The stars are out tonight One million fires burning Out there on the high dive You dance with your headphones on And I could watch you all night long Dancing to someone else's song Oh, dancing to someone else's song Oh, dancing to someone else's Flashbacks get me close But I'm staring at someone else's Headlights in your driveway You stand in the window waiting The stars are out tonight One million fires burning Meet me on the high dive You'll dance with your headphones on So I could watch you all night long Dancing to someone else's song Oh, dancing to someone else's song Oh, dancing to someone else's song Someone else's song, To someone else's song To someone else's, someone else's, someone else's song
Found Andrew on Netflix while stumbling onto his documentary. I love him, his voice, his music and his strength! He is a true inspiration! I'm going to see him on June 7th in Tucson and I can only pray that I will get to meet him! Always in my heart forever!!!!
I saw him on this past Sunday, June 26. He opened for Panic! At The Disco (which I love) and I heard him perform this song and I was like "YOU wrote this song? I love this song!" It's so great. I love it.
such a great guy and very humble. my daughter and I met him in Denver for a big gig concert 9 yrs ago he was wandering about out in the crowd meeting people. I have a pic of me andrew c and my daughter who was 13 at the time , one of my all time favorite pics
I heard this on the radio at work today and I almost shit a brick. I've been following his music since something corporate, so it excites me that this song is getting so much recognition. This is the music we need in the mainstream. It has artistic value and meaning. There's nothing more beautiful.
i love love love it i cannot wait for the new album, i can't wait to feel that same melancholy again that the other albums always give me without failure
This track is reminiscent of JM and it makes me sad. I'm so happy for him and proud of his success but that doesn't mean I'll ever stop missing the beauty that is JM.
I heard this song on the radio tonight, while in a fight with someone. The guy was really making me mad to the point where I was ready to punch someone in the face. I got out of the car and ran to my laptop to find this song, it took me like 40 minutes (I forgot the lyrics and didn't know the title) but it was 100% worth it! It put me in the most chill mood I've ever felt, like seriously I feel amazing now.
Every time I listen to this song I cry remembering about a love that does not exist anymore...
Right there with you brother.
Check out Eliza Grace. She done a cover of this song. Your Welcome.
It's so silly how the sound of a song can make you remember things that you would have otherwise forgotten.
What a blessing it is in disguise it really is
Nick, and also how the memory of something forgotten can make you remember a song.
Not silly at all. Music is the closest thing to mind control that exists. It can change your mood, it can make you move, it can bring back old memories. It’s magic.

Tell me how silly it is
I just can't help but get this deep nostalgic feeling every time I listen to an Andrew McMahon song...please tell me someone else knows what I'm talking about? His sound is just so perfect.
Uhhhyaaaah
So with you. When he comes on the radio my brain goes back 10 years to SoCo at the Vans Warped Tour.
His newer sound is very retro influenced it seems. Really a timeless sound.
I also get that nostalgic feeling when listening to The Killers. Don't know why. It's not a personal nostalgia, just what's being portrayed, almost...
I think it's cause a lot of us listened to SoCo and have kinda followed along and are reminded of well, all our lives. each album for me puts me back to a specific part in my life.
One of the greatest artists of my generation. I will never grow tired of these songs.
So underrated. His music just hits different...
"Flashbacks get me close, I'm almost there."
By far my favorite line.
I have seen andrew go from puck rock, to jack's, and now to this. He has done so much, and no matter what he does I always love it.
kao wouldnt really call it punk rock... maybe pop-punk.. or indie punk, but to group him with the likes of the ramones or sex pistols would be a detriment to how amazing Andrew really is. He did his own thing and it created the wave of folk-punk that we see today
+Jason VanBenschoten arguing genres like it's... wait, that was never cool.
His lyrics clearly state (in Cecilia And The Satellite), "Been around the world with a punk-rock band"
Still good in 2021
This song reminds me of winter of 2015 when I was single, spending a lot of time with my friend and hanging out with many different girls but had nothing serious than friends with benefits. I am now happily married, have a wonderful 4y old boy. But man, this nostalgia!…
The channel, the song, the artist.....all need more appreciation.
"Is giving up the music in my fingertips.
By trying to get to heaven through my veins."
Love this lyrics!
Wrong song for those lyrics. That is from All Our Lives. One of my new favorite songs.
Love this song and artist
sad reminisce of a great memory - so much like Boys of the Summer.
I don't listen to this genre much but I love stumbling across gems like this one
It doesn't have to be sad!!!!!💙

Cool story.
This song gives me nostalgia I don't even have
This song is my new addiction.
Just based on the songs that have been released, it really seems like going solo has brought out the best in him again. Glad to have been a fan for so long
Headlight in the driveway
You stand in the window waiting
The stars are out tonight
But do you know what stars are?
Balls of fire burning up the black space
Falling from the landscape, exploding in the face of God
I'm 61 years old and still luv this guy. Seen him with SoCo, go thru changes. Still brilliant, still cry when I hear "Constantine"!
+Tina Curley Constantine will always mean the world to me :)
I can't believe this song is four years old already.
Still such a great tune, though.
I refuse to believe this song was released over 9 years ago.

I love this song.....and yes the water IS moving.
I took the train home, facing backwards
Another hopeless chase
Echo Park, indian summer
I wrote a new song about your new life
Like steps I retrace
Block letters in your little black notebook, yeah
Flashbacks get me close,
I'm almost there
Headlights in the driveway
You stand in the window waiting
The stars are out tonight
One million fires burning
Out there on the high dive
You dance with your headphones on
And I could watch you all night long
Dancing to someone else's song
Oh, dancing to someone else's song
Oh, dancing to someone else's
A black jacket, a blue motorbike
Pass the mission in the moonlight
Teenagers in the alley kissing
Smell the gas burn, saw your street sign
I'm doing eighty in a forty-five
Throwing shadows you could hear if you listen, yeah
Flashbacks get me close,
I'm almost there
Headlights in the driveway
You stand in the window waiting
The stars are out tonight
One million fires burning
Out there on the high dive
You dance with your headphones on
And I could watch you all night long
Dancing to someone else's song
Oh, dancing to someone else's song
Oh, dancing to someone else's
Flashbacks get me close
But I'm staring at someone else's
Headlights in your driveway
You stand in the window waiting
The stars are out tonight
One million fires burning
Meet me on the high dive
You'll dance with your headphones on
So I could watch you all night long
Dancing to someone else's song
Oh, dancing to someone else's song
Oh, dancing to someone else's song
Someone else's song,
To someone else's song
To someone else's, someone else's, someone else's song
Have never once been disappointed by this man.
It just gets better and better.
I got the lyrics on my forearm makes me think about how far I came in this life
