when you see a team go herd you know the majority of the players are bad because they think the only way to live is have lots of other targets around them to take hits. almost every blowout game starts with either a DD not spotting its flank, or the BBs running away right from the start. but players never seem to be able to learn this. one weak link is hard to overcome in most games.
Congrads on your new ship, I just got Staligrad yesterday. Todays daily crates gave me a super container 1,500 steel.
simply out of my reach , I will have enough steel to buy it in 20 years .

Yeah I'm indecisive about if I should wait 2000s more so I can get the FDR or go ahead and get ether Stalin or Ragnar I know both are amazing ships

It really is strong, I faced one in my Khaba, won the match eventually, but hell of a fight. The ship was very difficult to deal with.
@@somebody700 In fact, you can do pretty well in khaba against it. You just have to stay as far as possible and juke like hell, but yeah you are at such a disadvantage against that shit. You shoot perfectly and juke as good as you can, deal 15k, she still chunks you for 5-8k, goes dark and guess what. She is almost full hp again. Even if you juke better, if your teammates don't focus her, you can't kill her and you can't do anything else till she dies, because if you do, she starts annihilating you.

@@somebody700 ragnar is not the best.. the fact that u won the fight in a khaba says allot about it. ragnar just has a radar which can freak out the torp dds but among the gun boats in a 1 v 1 i feel its the worst.
It's a tough match up, khaba has the advantage when he is kiting away fromm you. The closer you get to him the more of an advantage you have.

Yes, finally. Ragnar is my first steel ship and she is so fun to play. :D 3:01 I am running concealment instead of range, because I am better at the umbush hunting of DDs and want to use the stealth radar you get with double concealment. Also 13km is a bit short to fight cruisers, that is true, but most of the time you can make it work, for quick finishers. I am dislike being open for so long at longer ranges with my DDs anyways, so 13km sometimes feels even TOO long as a range for me xD
Try not using SI and use Range,Cammo and Reload at T4. Counterintuitive when you have 3 great consumabels but for me it worked wonders.
I liked the review as always. I am thinking about getting the Ragnar. I have also been considering the Shikishima or the Incomparable.
Lol I got Ragnar the moment the ship coupon activated too. Full concealment with radar matching detection is *SO* powerful …
The end of this video is so accurate. Games that are just spoiled by teams melting are more and more common. It’s not a new phenomenon but it’s just getting out of hand now
I got her immediately when the coupons reset, and damn she's a blast. She can dunk any DD in the game. She's not as extreme as Småland in that Småland also has that ridiculous DPM that gives enemy DD's little time to react, but Ragnar can get away from knife fights more intact because of her bulkiness against small caliber HE.
BTW, you should definitely go with SE, getting concealment down to equal to or less than your radar range is kinda imperative for radar DD's. You can omit FB for it, 10% faster reload isn't really worth giving up essentially a stealth radar. Even in randoms.
Personally I use all 3 important P4 skills and sacrafice SI. It sucks a little bit not having 3 Radars and Heals, but I noticed that in many games you dont actually need them (ranked specificly) as you want to be farming anyways. Radar is so much more potent when you can pop it as soon as spotted, this is worth only having 2 as thouse 2 are so much more deadly.
I had a game lately, where the sky was filled with planes all over. An enemy CV, a Tromp, a Johan de Witt and as a cherry on the top, a Kearsarge - all enemy planes.... and I'm sitting in a Gouden Leeuv in a pure AA build and I felt like I'm in heaven, with planes falling out of the sky like raindrops around me. I didn't get as much planes down as you in the Ragnar. because the enemy was smarter and respected the "no fly zone" around my ship, but still 46 downed planes later I ended up on place 2 even with very few maindamage.
I guess, plane damage is still more worth than secondary damage on ships, because its way easier to be on the top of the list, with AA builds, than with secondary builds.

Hey PQ, I've been thinking for a long time whether I should buy the Ragnar as the first ship for steel. I just really like to play DDs, but ...
There are so many DDs, with so many options, how you can play them and how best to adapt them to your preferences etc pp.
I will probably test some options on the CT, because I am also trying to set up a Haru on full gunboat (without camouflage) on my main server. Because, for example, the Haru already has 240k Base DPM (HE) and the Ragnar only 165k. Then with every gunboat you add ~ 27% (5% + 12% + 10%). So I thought Haru would be a lot of fun in full-gunboat. Unfortunately, I don't hit the range very well (15.x km), I'm also quickly discovered 6.9km, and I only have a 10 captain ... but if you count the 27% on it, you have a lot of gun power. I will also test the Yueyang with radar + gun-boat. There you also have 3s reload, 7.5km radar (33s with build+modul), 6.5 camouflage. So I'm really thinking about spending my steel on "something" like the Ragnar.
Another good example from Elbing: D.
It has "only" 209k AP DMG but you also add the 27% but also the 7.5% AP DMG ...
that makes a huge difference and you have the "almost same" hit safety as Ragner and even more range (16km), 7.2 camouflage, 5.4s reload. Makes an AP DPM of 294k. Or you take the Z52, which already has a 284k base. Yes, I write too much ^^. What do you think or do the others think of it?

Build Halland with gunboat and only 12.5km range is very little but reloading is great xD - 1.6s. A really good time that the CT is online, I'll have to test a few times ^^
I feel concealment is better than firing range and this one is good ship for antti DD role
Range is extremely effective due to good ballistics. I go with consealment instead of extra HP, IMO best built.
I tried full gunboat build out of the gate with Ragnar, but have found concealment a bit more favorable when trying to radar hunt destroyers.
Damn such a pretty ship. I got the Friesland since releaseand I enjoy playing her and she looks he'lla pretty too. Contesting caps and ambushing smoked up dds. Like yes most of the time damage is not a lot but tons of exp from killing dds, planes, capping and de capping.
So now Ragnar is also an interesting pick but steels are so hard to get unless you are a hardcore clan player.

Now Potato, great video, but would you recommend this ship over the Stalin / Bourgogne for someone that is more casually focussed? Especially when that particular individual already has the Vampire 2, what seems to be a true nemesis to this ship.
Ragnar beats Vampire all day long if played correctly
Not that I dislike what the ragnar has, but a destroyer without torpedoes is killing it for me.
Same the fact that the EU DD line is all Torp boats and all my skill are built for torps. Maybe if there was A BB or Cruiser line then i could make a CPT just for this boat

This thing is hell for me and my Kleb. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.
You don;t miss in DDs because of dispersion. You miss because the shells are slow and arcing making it very hard to hit maneuvering targets beyond 7~8 km.
Say that again playing Anshan. There really are DDs with bad despersion.

Try Khaba also...
Long before 5km the Ragnar would have to endure getting shot at with nothing to shoot back against for something like 10 salvos. That is enough to fuck up any DD, thick plating or no thick plating. The Smaland is just a better boat. At least you have decent concealment and you have the option to sling torps - very fast and pretty long range torps -- when you are low on health. The Ragnar can either sit around and jerk off, or show itself and get raped when it is low on health.
I think that there is one flaw with Pan European ships , deep charges are in front and there is no indicator where it hit that sucks , WG need to patch that .

Ragnar is a very good ship, got her a week ago. Farmed 90k damage on a Hindenburg in CB's, but you have to stay at medium/Long range.

Just Got the Bourgoune but dam 32mm everywhere hurts. Especially against High DPM DDs such as this.

Got 450k in ragnar on arms race best t10 ship so far good against anything if you stay long range
I had no idea what this was, ran into one in my Udaloi, and got completely destroyed.
I also just got the Ragnar. Honestly I am a mediocre player. I want to be better and I am working hard to better than mediocre and more competitive it's hard and the grind is long, but it's fun Ragnar feels the same way. It's a great boat I can avg around 60-70K in it which is 10-15K higher than other destroyers. I just need to learn to master it and play it better. Which takes time and some dedication
60-70K that includes 1 or 2 enemy DDs is just fine

Yeah.. I didn't know much about it and came up against it in my harugumo. Damn... It killed me with 50% hp to spare. But got him with my torps later on.

Ragnar is inherently underpowered. It lacks the necessary attributes to make meaningful impact on match result. No burst damage to speak of, split turrets, and yet still retains a fragile platform. I would take 1 Conqueror..Thunderer or 1 DM or even 1 of just about any CA over 2 Ragnars on my team any day of the week. Now... If WG gave it the specialized repair party of the Nestrashimy ( and 1 more base charge)... And maybe a few more thousand HP if could make up for where it is seriously lacking with longevity
I still can't choose between Ragnar, Bourgogne and Shikishima. I play all three ship types (DD, CA/CL , BB) very well. I also have the techtree versions of these ships: Yamato, Republique (Alsace) and Halland (also the Friesland). My first Steel ship was Stalin. :0
Yama (with Legendary Mod) is a better Shiki, so why bother with that?

1v1 Ragnar wins hard, all depends if you can isolate the småland from teammates and manage to dodge the torps. The main reason for Ragnar's dominance is the 25mm belt

The mid range AA is the same as Halland while it has DFAA on. Haha

I had close range encounters with Ragnar on my Daring... and boi he suffers from my 60° AP pen angle, it is perfectly fine. There's no way Ragnar can shoot his aft guns if he doesn't want to eat my AP.
Think the Ragnar needs some more practise; it's best at medium range, not close-in
seriously, it is next to impossible to lose a dd encounter in ragnar, i even won a 1vs1 against a mino below 10km. if u win in daring, he probably was drunken or had some serious lag or worse... lmao

@@FMeyer-zg5mg nah it’s a trade kill I never said I survived that encounter, kekek. it’s just really close fight and it’s in ranked as well so the chances of close battles near islands are often. I had full hp and so does he, he probably thought he could easily take me down but I knew that my he can’t do shit about him so I immediately switched to ap. And for some reason he decides to close in rather than kiting away. Plus my commander’s build at the time is full-on meme gun build with bft and fb.

I have a question, I don't play clan battles too often due to work schedules. But now I have 23,337 of steel. With coupon I can get 6 ships FDR, Shiki, Bourgogne, Austin, Ragnar, and Plymouth. I'm not major in anything too much. You can check my profile. Hetmans3 in NA server. Please recommend me a ship to buy. I think my eye is on Bourgogne and Ragnar, but all seems to be tempting... I am really wondering what ship to get now... I've been wanting Stalingrad for a long time and am about to get enough steel for it; then Ragnar appears, and quickly became everyone's new favorite DD..
I am in the same dilemma. I have enough for my first steel ship and have always wanted the Stalingrad but now I’m not sure if I should get that, the bour or Ragnar. I don’t have the time to build up steel quickly so I know whatever I pick will have to satisfy me for a while. I also worry that I grab one and then they release another steel ship in the next patch and I kick myself for not waiting.

Like my original want was Shiki. People will hate me, but sheesh... that gun sound. Reason why I ranked so much on satsuma.
I like stalingrad as I like my petro. Although I know I cannot face tank like I can on petro cause stakin is more squishy, but the guns are 305mm vs 220 on petro.
And then Ragnar.
One of my best played ships is Friesland. No torps but I love the capping and ambushing smoked up dds gameplay.
Although my dilemma is, the friesland gameplay I got accustomed too may or may not work on ragnar cause it don't have smoke. (Im too dependent on it for emergency). But radar for hydro is nice.
I got Stalin and love her but now I'm in a dilemma for the next one. Bourgogne or Ragna?. I think I'm going Bourgogne.

I can’t wait to get Ragnar. Was heavily debating getting Austin as my first steel ship, but when this thing came out I knew this was gonna be the one I gotta get.
Correct build is to take CE instead of fearless brawler, so you can radar what is spotting you and farm damage from safe distance once your radar is on cooldown. Your build focuses on ultimate damage farming. I have seen some other streamers building like that to get high PR to get into leaderboard.

Charging this ship head on at about 4-5km with my Daring, I did way more damage to him since he needed to stay broadside to shoot at me with the same number of guns. Daring AP absolutely shredded him while keeping my bow at him.
I just got the Gronningen and Stalingrad or Bourgoune will be my next Steel Ship that I get. I'd rather get some of the older ships first before grabbing Ragnar. I just have a weird feeling that one of these ships will be removed soon!

Dude get off the AP especially at long range: Ragnar has an 11% chance of starting fires. Damn that's awesome for a DD! I don't yet have Ragnar but in my Pan Euros I get about 20%-30% of my overall caused damage (to ships) via fires and they only hold about an 8% fire chance. Now you might say that 20% is chip damage and you'd be correct, but I can continually get that chip damage whilst taking no damage in return via going conceal behind an island after I light his ars on fire to then to take him on again later. If I ever use my AP then I've blown it and gotten way to close to something way too big: CVs excluded lol. Yes I'm speaking of/from Olands little pew pews but the fire advantage offers the same game for Ragnar. Make light houses out of ships: burn baby burn!

Sailed beside Austin, damn... this ship is bigger than austin, makes me think Austin is nerfed as cruiser.
If I am spec for range, my teammate will be angry, but I did constant 70k - 100k per game
If I am spec for DD hunter, at best I can only survive for 2 hunts, and I only get 30k - 40k.
This is hard...

Very easy to counter with a Khaba or daring, just like elbing.

Smal was way too similar to the tech tree for my taste, this one seems interesting. But imo going 15k range instead of conceal is more boring.
SE is bugged and ruins you're saturation in case you didn't know ... Conceal insted of Suvivability Ekspert is the way ;p

should drop SE as ragnar already has great amount of HP. invest some XP and get commander to 21 pts. and get CE.

@@brentonteo8273 SE bug is getting a super fast patch, should be fixed on most servers already. It's in the ingame news, with 3 WG containers as an apology.

Unlock your ships and get as many tier 8s and 9s open this year75 steel. I made 6,500 steel for them alone , Ranked battles clan battles , and daily crates net 40 steel a day over1,200 steel a month. Unlock your ships do your dailys. You will get at least one steel ship every year.

Same, how you finding it? 32mm hurts for me. HE Burns/ Melts me quickly so you sorter got to play in & out. But AP snipe's are good

DD AA is WAY too strong in the current game, it needs to be toned back by a lot. They have better AA then most BB's in the game which is dumb. Cool ship though, I'm gonna get one :)
im about to get ragnar in 30 minutes......
This ship can't push in though, its best at range, my druid destroys Ragnars at close range, but at range its hard dealing damage do it
It also has an improved heal like you get on the Groz . Think it's like 14% rather than a typical 10% heal
So two heals gets you 28% recoverable, on other destroyers with 3 heals you'll get 30%
I pushed into a cap in a game in this and whacked 2 DDs and chased a 3rd off. Lmao

I just got it - and god am I bad with it... I am not a bad DD player and I play both gun & torp dd's. I really cannot remember having such a bad time then with the Ragnar. I regret so much having spent my steel on this, it's not even funny anymore. I do not say the clip is wrong - I just recommend to think A LOT before buying it. It seems to be a bad solo-ship - maybe in a team? But for randoms I will not recommend it at all. Not even in my wildest dreams.

A Monty and a GK with all their armor, HP and heals dead within 3 min of the game starts. This is a good showcase of the skill level of T10 player base these days. No wonder we get all these steamrolls with games ending in 6-7 min when a T10 BB (or even 2) cant even survive 4 full minutes.
Ragnar seems cool boat tho.
