- I made the effort to go over to the east coast for a weekend of waves, this session was supper fun, small but fun... It was my first time riding a fish and I found it super fun (but so different to a performance board), for a start I was trying to surf it like a performance board, pumping it and turning sharply but I found just taking my time and let the board do its thing worked best.

Fins - Shapers Quad Keel
Gopro - Hero 5 Black
crazy how you can bump a guy on a wave and both have a good laugh. where i live you get screamed at for a good while.

Used to love riding my fish. Todays boards are not the same as the good old days. The single then the twin in late 70’s.

yeah surfing a fish is very very different than a shortboard. a good fish is about letting the board do the work. you dont pump fishes they dont work when you do. you actually slow them down trying to pump. its a different type of flow and you can be on different parts of the wave shortboards dont really allow for. you also have to really react to the wave and look further down the line and read the waves more vs shortboards kind of doing what you want to do in a shorter amount of time.

I've been riding a 5'7 twin fin fish 34L lately. Too much fun! Don't need to pump for speed and sling shots turns. What part of the world is this?

Fish rider here. Thank you for the video. I just brought a mouth mount for my GoPro max 360. They claimed to be 15ft waterproof. Still nervous about it...

Hi Mr. Kook Show lol. At 39.4L, did you like how this board felt? I notice you usually surf boards a bit lower volume, so I was just wondering why you decided to go bigger with the fish. Just curious because I'm getting into surfing and was pondering board volumes on different shapes. I'd appreciate some feedback, thanks!
Hi mate, it's actually my friends board, so if I was to buy one I'd probably go with less Ltrs... but it felt fine to ride! I don't think I'd go any shorter than 5'9 tho, as I'm 194cm tall lol. I'm assuming you'll be looking for a first board over 7ft? Unless your already through the first stage of standing up and doing a bottom turn, but If your still learning that then I wouldn't be to worried about litres until you start looking at a performance/shortboard...
P.S My advice is don't buy a short board for your first board! I'd be looking for something over 7ft at least, you'll progress much faster this way! Learning on a board that's too short can be extremely frustrating and annoying...

What is the difference between a fish and a shot board
Basically the tail of the board but a "fish board" usally has a lot more volume and often faster.
