Mint Blitz is here. Mint, I'm sure you have a similar story to tell. Are you getting sick of Infinite? I might not even play Season 2, and just wait for Forge. How 'bout you?
Corporate greed plus knowing your audience wants one specific thing but they would rather chase trends than stick to what made them popular in the first place bungie was wise to walk away
@@subjectnivleis7572 lol bungie is just as culpable as any of those companies. I will never forgive them for how they false advertised the SHIT out of destiny 1
because everyone was buying V and then 1..why give em more when they pay for less..you guys are idiots..just accept it and move onto another franchise and kill that one too.
I remember saying it should be delayed with the complete lack of meat on the bones and was told that was a dumb idea because its already been delayed. 343 has killed halo with incompetence.
Lol same here. People hated on me so hard for saying it needed another delay and now those people aren’t even playing halo anymore. 343 needed to stop catering to casuals years ago, they brought this upon themselves
Delays don’t work. “Rushed” is not the issue. It’s the complicit and apathetic nature of the average customer who blindly pre order and buy stupid fucken cat ear skins, resulting in studios and the corporations not having to even try.
@Molecule Mind cyberpunk was delayed 3 times bro. “Just one more delay! Just one more delay!” Even over a year of post release patches still has the game in utter shit state.
@Molecule Mind it’s absolute Dogshit and I’m on a RTX 2080. The point is announced in 2012, delayed three times, and a >year post patching still shows bugs and glitches everywhere and the fundamental game design is trash…means if you gave these devs 20 years they would not have made the game everyone expected or they promised. Want to know why? The standards of the gaming market are so low they can be sold on a promise. A flashy 2 minute trailer. That’s all they need to throw hundreds of dollars in PRE ORDERS for a digital version of a game. All this easily pleased group of customers has done is cultivated a market that can give zero fucks, cut corners to unbelievable levels and still milk them dry. And they never learn despite from being burned 1000 times before.
I’m sorry man but those good old days aren’t coming back, we grew up at the right time, there was just something about gaming in that era that was truly something special and I’m so glad we were able to experience it. But as far as Halo infinite is concerned I wish the best for it, but I probably won’t be returning back to it
Agreed, soon as gaming hit the mainstream it was pretty much downhill from there. We all felt it coming once DLC became a thing and sure enough corporate greed stuck it's grimey hands into gaming and poisoned it. The best thing you can do now is keep the few online friends that stuck around and play different games.
Ye, this applies to all of gaming. I have come to accept this. We are never, ever getting the "good old days" back. We are wasting opportunities to make these the good CURRENT days by trying.
This is how every generation feels about something. Video games, music, movies, cars, you name it. For everyone saying 'Okay boomer' today, there will be some kid mocking you twenty years from now over your nostalgia and how it used to be.
Halo literally ended with Reach. I have also played since 2002 when I got my xbox and halo ce was the first game I bought. Microsoft and 343 had no idea what Halo really was and burned everything .
I find it weird Halo fans with rose-tinted glasses are pretending like Reach was any good... if anything, Reach is when most classic Halo fans left Halo...
I will clarify: I’m not quitting Halo forever. I still play/stream MCC often..but Halo Infinite in it’s current state is what made me step away after only a couple months. Every other Halo game in the franchise, kept me playing for years after release.
this is so strange but this feels like im listening to my own thoughts, while i didnt get as involved with halo as you, i didnt go to events or anything, i didnt play with large groups of friends my home town hated halo everyone like COD, i played with my older brother and his 2 friends. i played halo since the first one only the campaign all the way up till halo 3 when i started playing online, my brother ended up having to move home for a while, and we started playing reach together ALL the time, i had at least 10k hours in reach we were both nobles. we got so close to inheritor when halo 4 came out then i played that forever. it wasnt until halo 5 i stopped playing halo. i came back for infinite. did the same as you 100% campaign on legendary. finished the entire battle pass LONG before most, was diamond in ranked in the first month, im still top 30% stat wise in ranked. and i just quit about 3 months ago. so bored of the empty lifeless game infinite is compared to reach my absolute favorite of the series. Edit: i also did the same thing i picked cyan for my first colors, then when we could add more color, i did cyan and red. and got to infinite. ohhh great. yeah cyan and red is like 25$
Unfortunately I think I am quitting halo for good. The first game I ever remembered playing was Halo CE. My dad brought me into the living and let me take control. I remember I was on the library mission because I kept jumping into the middle of the map and dying. I was only in kindergarten. That's close to 16 years of Halo for me. 343 has done nothing show a level of incompetence I can't stand to watch. Halo is my oldest memory and my oldest love. It's time I sat out and wait for a new studio to take over. A studio who doesn't see fans like me as an obstacle.
With a budget like that, I don't understand why it came out with LESS than the standard stuff (playlist types, co-op campaign etc). That stuff was the minimum you would expect from a Halo title. They stripped it down to the bare bones and wanted to feed us bits and pieces over the years and it backfired. Badly.
You perfectly described what live service games have turned into lol. It's like going out to eat at a grand reopening of your favorite restaurant, ordering a big steak, and the chef is like "Some of the food is actually ready now. Here it is, we'll bring the rest out shortly." And it tastes *really* good at first. But next thing you know, you've gone through all of your food, your plate is empty, and it's been 45 minutes and the steak still hasn't arrived with little to no communication from the chef, so you decide to just pay and leave.
There had to have been development problems with this game. 343 wanted this game to be like breath of the wild and that ended up not working out so they basically had to scrap most the game and salvage what was left which is Halo Infinite. No unique biomes, reused levels, generic open world and just no depth to the game at all. The multiplayer somehow has quite literally no content. The live service aspect doesn't help either. They also had contractor developers so they were basically cycling through different developers which explains why many elements of the UI and stuff seem incomplete or just really odd in general. This game was so incomplete in terms of content i'm actually shocked they released it. We still don't have co-op or forge. The communication is basically nonexistent with them either. It sucks cause the gameplay is good but the game is so incomplete.
@@punchykarma6685 They wanted a game like *Destiny. It's pretty blatant imo. They just couldn't deliver, which is hilarious but also a little depressing considering 343 had the same amount of funding bungie did with D1.
Because money. They need to milk a game for the next 10 years. So might as well put everything good behind a paywall. Really as gamers, its OUR fault for buying paid content, instead of giving them our $50-$60 for the WHOLE game. We've allowed game developers to take advantage of us. So we deserve empty games at launch.
After 'Reach', they had a perfect template to make a great, current gen 'Halo'. And they ignored it entirely, released 1/4th a game as 'Live Service', and they are not supporting it or the community. 'Forge' has not shown up because they cannot figure out how to monetize it. They killed lobbies. No same screen. These things will not be fixed. This is your new norm. Crappy matchmaking without lobbies, no creating custom games, mass monetization, no significant content drops. Basically, 'Halo' has become a generic Live Service game. And live services do not support communities.
@@Johia_Mapping_2 People who have access to Forge right now, a month from release can't even save their projects lol at you thinking this will come out and just work - And even it does there's a million other reasons why it won't save the game
I mean I can't even say it's a generic live service game at this point. They aren't updating the game at a rate where live service would be fair. We got more content after launch in halo 3 and reach with a year compared to infinite. Rip halo and fire 343
I find it weird Halo fans with rose-tinted glasses are pretending like Reach was any good... if anything, Reach is when most classic Halo fans left Halo...
Also 31, dang time flies. Playing With Friends is a tough one. Just can't seem to get the time to coordinate the gang together or others have moved on with their lives. Good memories.
me and my buddies still do our best to hop on at the same time once a month....we literally set a date, tell our wives lol, and put it in our calendars 😂😂😂😂😂
The glaring irony in all this, which goes for every other game that built - and lost - an entire community, is that once marketing wonks took the reins out of the hands of the actual game developers, they ultimately destroyed what made these games fun... fun to play, fun to share, fun to talk about, etc. Today's "live service" games are released buggy and half-finished, with the minimum content required to support in-game revenue generation aimed at grabbing as much cash as possible in the shortest amount of time. The money people ultimately killed the goose and the golden eggs are now just a memory.
The same thing has happened with the modern toy industry for the most part. It’s so sad. I understand capitalism but major shifts like these into further and further low effort/low quality cash grabs will eventually alienate most consumers and kill the industry; which is what we’re seeing now. Short term profits over huge long term gains are among the many pitfalls of corporate greed.
As someone who quit playing Halo after I was furious at how Halo 4 turned out, this video really hits hard. I feel you man. Thanks for posting this, it’s a GREAT video! So much nostalgia.
I had some concerns about halo 4, but halo 5 was what killed it for me. I was hyped for it. Loved the Hunt The Truth audio book and was excited. I didn't even bother with Halo 6. I'm watching the TV series and that's probably gonna be the rest of it
@@trillionbones89 The tv series is a disgrace to Halo and MC. The dipsticks at Hollywood couldn’t even get the basics right like the prophets never allying themselves with humans for obvious reasons and MC not showing his face. Also they made MC a sidekick in his own show just so they can wow us with irrelevant gurl power. Its a complete shitshow.
Halo 4 was fine honestly as a first go for the new team at the helm. Was curious what they were gonna do with that story. Then they shat on Halo 4 with Halo 5, and now they just did the same ti 5 with Infinite. I guess Halo Wars 2 came out, good game I guess but I didn't like and prefer the first Halo Wars.
It's incredible to know how many people across the country had such crazy similar experience growing up with this franchise. From being introduced to Halo CE by my cousins to the all nighter LAN parties with friends as well, I share a very close affinity for Halo like you and you articulated almost exactly what I've been feeling lately as a 20 year fan myself. Thank you for making this video my friend. You get an update an a sub from me.
I was 21 when Halo launched. We had my apartment decked out with a 4 television set-up. We cleaned out the attic for the blue team room while red team was in the living room. EVERY Friday and Saturday we usually had 10-12 players. We had guys come in from out of state a few times. Halo, cheap pizza, and even cheaper Vodka. Simpler times 😍
@@TwoQuickOnes multiplayer isnt about ''progression/unlocking/achievements, it's about being the best goddamn player you can be quake 1-3 will always be the fucking best.
@@TwoQuickOnes I think 343 has 90% of Halo Infinite's content on a hard drive somewhere in their developing floor just locked up and with it all ready to go. They say they're "slowly adding new content" but it is likely, all that content is pre-existing. They used nostalgia just to make a quick buck in thee most predatory way possible. They're not working on Forge, they already have it done, and when they release it, they will probably charge ya 10$ for something that isn't even completed and with barely anything to forge on. Just look at the maps in Halo infinite, I really cant picture forging on any of those levels. "Most" if not all, of this game's customization is locked behind a store that I think, shouldn't even exist. Making Halo Infinite free-to-play was the error and just slap multiplayer beta on the thing and call it a day. The people behind the multiplayer development, just wanted a pay check, and go home and move on with their personal lives, nothing else, at the end of the day to them, its just another day at the office. Halo infinite at bare minimum can't be called a completed game, they probably twiddled their fingers during the entire development process worked on it on the side and the excuse but the pandemic, I think the pandemic isn't the issue, it was the lack of motivation and passion.
I’m quitting 343, love halo but 343 have done nothing but fuck it up. A new dev team needs to take this series over before the final nail is hammered in.
I honestly believe that this was the final nail. This was the biggest buzz halo has had since 3 and for many, a first experience with halo. I don't see infinite making a coming back and I don't see the gaming community taking any more interest into a new halo.
Kinda same tbh, I defended H4 to hell and back, but the way they've handled 5, MCC (the literal 5+ YEARS of it being a dumpsterfire) and now Infinite is most definitely a 3rd strike they're out kinda deal. Not being faciestious, they're actually killing Halo. They completely crapped on the explosive momentum they managed to capture with Infinites release and let it fizzle to a wet fart while simultaneously pissing off almost every single fan they had left willing to defend them. I'm over it.
I quit Halo when my friend who I always played with fell into a coma. Every single time I see something to do with Halo, I think of him and feel pretty bad.
I’m sorry to hear this man. Some advice though: Ask yourself what your friend would want you to do. Have you considered playing the Halo games again in his honor/memory? Try to remember the good times y’all had together by reliving the experience. Pour one out for your friend instead of avoid all those feelings. I have a feeling they would want you to play and not avoid the classic magic that are all the Halo Bungie era games . Hope this helps or at least gives you a different perspective to think about.
Damn.. this actually brought a tear to my eye, when you were talking about LAN parties.. i was always the youngest/smallest one, friends called me WeeMan. God.. how i miss those days. Rip Halo
Halo is not dead. Infinite needs work and more unlockables but the gameplay is still really good. If you get burnt out maybe you should stop playing so much video games lol
@@dustinnoll486 I think the point is more of what older games brought to the table from the get go that Infinite doesn't even have after a year of delay. It's been a minute since we received a finished game from a AAA studio, all games are cyphering features and coming out buggy/requiring day one patches, it's tiring
@@arch_.. atleast they're DOING changes. Atleast they fix most issues and listen to fans. They could be better, hopefully they keep improving. Still 100x better than cod
Bruh I keep thinking back to your first Halo Infinite video how you were bragging about being a “Forerunner” and how you “helped build Halo Infinite into what it is today”. That didn’t age well did it? 😂🤷🏼
This is exactly what I was feeling and starting to realize about Call Of Duty after 2016. I was only being met with disappointment, and I was done and fed up. Only difference is that I've actually quit it completely and haven't played since. Other players who say they quit CoD still buy the next game, and I truly don't understand why. People keep supporting something they know is bad, and I wish they finally saw what I see now. Our favorite games, just aren't what they used to be. It's time people realize this about both CoD and Halo. They won't ever live up to our expectations ever again.
This is exactly me the last 20 years. All i can think of is exactly what you listed as the 3 bulletpoints. What great video. Brought a tear to my eye. Spartens never die, they just missing in action.
I remember playing 2/3/Reach with my guys (still close with to this day) in someone’s house for HOURS. Talking trash. Eating pizza and rotating when he had to. Getting back on xbox live for infinite was so hyped.. for like a month. Such a shame this game is so disappointing. Great video.
I remember the days my sister and I would play Halo CE and Halo 2 everyday. I'd wait excitingly for the next Halo and telling my mom excitingly how much I really want to play the new Halo game haha. Those really were the days.
I genuinely feel that it’ll get there someday, but I’ve returned to MCC for now. Infinite will very likely not be where it needs to be by 2023 Halo has been horribly mismanaged since 343 took over in my opinion. 4, 5, MCC (for years until it was fixed up), and Infinite all have some massive mismanagement. None of those games needed to have those problems and I’m sick of accepting unfinished Halo games. I’ll play MCC probably frequently, since I still have the desire to play Halo but I’m putting infinite down for a while. Maybe I’ll return for free events if I feel like it, but I’m pretty burned out on the game rn
Same here. I quickly went back to MCC where the gameplay is just simply more fun. I only wish that new maps and content could still be pushed out for the older Halos but obviously Infinite is their only cash cow right now.
Fantastic video, you shook up some deep emotions and powerful moments we all shared through Halo. Thank you. Halo will never die, it's just missing in action.
Nah shits dead bro and will stay dead so long as 343 is behind it. Look at d2. Witch queen is awesome and already 2 more dlc planned. Bungie makes better games 343 makes ass
It is still alive anyway. I keep playing the bungie’s halo since 15 years. If it’s not for now, the comeback will be on other times, maybe in the hands of another studio. But it’s not the studio to blame, it’s more the investors and all the modern video-game industry that ruins great franchise.
I've played through every Halo game with my gf since we got together (excluding the non-FPS games). I wasn't sure if she was into Halo at first, but then I saw her cry at Johnson's death. After we beat the series, she showed her younger brother the series. "That's the Arbiter. He's like Chief's best friend." Hearing that made me happy. It's unfortunate that we won't be able to experience Halo Infinite together for quite a while, but I don't really think she missed out on a lot.
Bro I honestly got a sad and might have dropped a tear down my eye watching this amazing video. Everything you said I did and seeing things like halo 3 custom game modes I played in this video just made me realize how good I had it. Gosh I wish I could live those memories again…
I reject the platitude “don’t be sad that it’s over, smile cuz it happened.” Because if I’m gonna be honest about my feelings, im glad that it did happen but I’m still sad that it’s over. And my sadness for it being over is valid.
Your sadness is not valid actually, nothing is valid, everyone will die one day and the earth will be swallowed by the sun when it explodes, the universe will eventually become an empty black void of nothingness and there’s nothing we can do about it. Have a good day man :)
I loved seeing the photos and videos of old Halo LAN parties. I have lots of them myself. Wish I could go back there. Also, I hope every video you do talks a bunch about that hunting game.
Your feelings are echoes of the entire Halo community right now. What you said about Halo, it being an empty shell of what it should be, is so very true. We all had high hopes, but 343 made another hiccup.
This is my exact feelings with Halo aswell. I was practically raised on halo. I was obsessed with Halo until the pass few years. Thankfully, I discovered monster hunter world in 2018 to fill that void of obsession.
As a kid, the ability to customize and really express myself was so amazing. It was free, and I had to actually earn the armor through gameplay... I’ll never forget unlocking the Halo 3 armor pieces... Going for Hayabusa... I also remember how awesome it was to wear the ODST armor in Reach... It’s a shame how far the gaming industry as a whole has fallen. We used to earn every reward and unlock, nowadays, you have to pay money for everything... There really is no enjoyment in that. I remember unlocking some really cool armor sets and bragging to my friends about it! I’m just glad I grew up around that era. The memories I had were some of the best.
The fact that there isn’t really any play to unlock anymore completely ruined it for me. Halo infinite made you pay $20 for the color white and like another $5 for the color red. It’s ridiculous. Just let us pick our own damn colors
This is the first video I’ve watched about halo that accurately describes my experience as a kid. This is exactly what my halo experience was like growing up and I’m glad I didn’t waste a second of my life on halo infinite garbage
Nice Music? More like legendary score that no one could forget. You are amazing sir, and should've been treated as a concerned friend when you warned the folks at Bungie. We all saw the aftermath of that though. Saddening when you see how Jason would talk about you back then. He clearly looked up to your work and was driven by it. To throw someone who means that much to you to the side... it's the makings of a fantastic Activision partner!
We were all there at the Beginning, and the End. And in the end, this Ring made us Brothers. Also; Halo brought us all memories too epic for words to explain. We the fans can save Halo. The mantle of Responsibility has been passed down to us.
I will NEVER forget my first Reach playthrough as long as I live. That game blew me away, as someone who was new to Xbox 360 and only used to Wii and DS graphics
@@TheItalianoAssassino Odst blew my mind into a different dimension . Just getting the perspective of an ordinary human gave me chills, and a feeling of fear. It lived up to my expectations. Something 343 can't do. HR, HCE, H2, H3 Odst and H3 will be games I still plan on playing when I'm 70. They have a special place in my heart. Now my heart is crushed at how they've destroyed our boy, but the Mantle of Responsibility is now ours, let's make Halo Great again
I watched an interview of some 343 devs and they basically said that the halo fans are what's holding halo back. Was pretty disgusting to watch tbh. We keep that company alive and we are the issue. We want a true halo experience and because of that we are the problem. The dumb political and cry baby bs being fed to the game is ridiculous. Let alone the show 🥴

@@Cognitoman 4 had an interesting campaign, multiplayer was absolutely ass, halo 5 didn't do any justice in both departments, at the end of service for H5, the social aspect was literally one of the best of the series, Infinite does none of this stuff
This was great man! As a Halo newb (started the Halo games in September 2021 lmao) I didn't really have any perspective on where Infinite stood in the Halo franchise. This laid out the OG Halo fan perspective perfectly and I surprisingly feel similarly about Infinite, despite being a completely new person to the games. I was playing Halo 5 multiplayer a few months before Infinite and it was (in comparison) ridiculously more polished... What a shame.
Welcome to the fam!! I highly encourage you to grab MCC and play through campaigns 1-3!! The games feel different to modern shooters, but are truly amazing.
My first Halo experiece was playing Halo CE, 13 years ago. I was only 5 at the time, and my dad handed me the controller and asked me if I wanted to play. And after all this time, I strongly believe Halo is the best shooter game, but Infinite has just ruined the game franchise I am emotionally attached to. Everytime we moved onto a new Halo game, we always played Co-op together, we shared our first experience of the game together. Now I am tearing up that my families favourite game, is now in a pile of dirt.
Same with my dad. We started off playing normal difficulty bcuz I wasn’t good enough. Then one day I was the one carrying him through legendary. When I got older, I would bring my 360 over to his house to show him the new halo game. Now i don’t have the heart to show him what they’ve done to our game.
I know how you feel, had a similar experience with Gears of War. Gears 5 was my breaking point and I haven't returned to the game for 2 years now. Gears of War just isn't what it used to be to me, as sad as I was, it was time to just move on. I have no interest in playing Gears 6 whenever it releases.
I only got into Gears around 2 years ago. A buddy who was a big fan, wanted to do co-op with me. I loved the trilogy to death, especially 2 and 3, but by the time we got to 4, I already felt like the soul was missing. Halo is how I met that friend, and it genuinely angers me to see 343 neglect its original fanbase.
In the immortal words of the Halo Multiplayer announcer... "BALL DROPPED!" Also, excellent video my guy! Gonna go ahead and subscribe, I hope to see more content like this from you in the future! Halo means so much to so many, except for the people in charge of it. To them, Halo is just a job they were placed into. To Bungie, Halo was a dream that they wanted to make into a reality. They had something to show the world, and made the absolute most of the limited resources they had to execute their vision. The problem with 343 as a whole is that they had no part in the core franchise that attracted it's audience in the first place. They're like some sort of genetic experiment that was created in a test tube in a lab solely to milk the IP for all it's worth, with way more money and resources than the original creators had. When you've got all the money in the world to back you up, you don't need take as many creative risks because you have nothing to lose. You already have a dedicated audience that will buy anything to do with their favorite brand, and you don't need to try as hard as you possibly can to create something original and different. You don't have to build that audience from scratch with your own hard work. There's no real passion to create something new and special in 343, there is only the desire to keep the franchise relevant in a world that has moved on. There is only the need to keep flinging shit at the wall to see what sticks, because they are out of touch with their audience and they didn't fling the first shit to stick. They have no idea what made that original shit stick, so they keep flinging different kinds of shit to attract a new audience, because different audiences like different types of shit. So maybe if there's some of their favorite shit over here on this wall, they'll become interested. But in flinging so many different types of shit into the mix, they cover over the original shit that stuck in the first place. And now the people that stuck around for that first special sticky shit have none of their favorite shit left to come back for. I hope the shit analogy makes sense. Great video dude, keep up the good work. Also happy to hear you use the secret John Mayer track from H2 in the beginning.
Boycott 343 industries if they refuse to listen to fans. Hit em where it hurts which is their paychecks. Also Bungie needs to buy back halo from 343 industries so they can make Halo great again.
This really hit home. I remember my best friend got a 360 and Halo 3 for Christmas. The older brother and his friends played for almost 48 hours straight after Christmas day and we had to wait. We didn't mind at all because just being in the room watching with 8+ people who all loved the game was so special.
My first experience with Halo was the PC port of the first Halo. I liked it but I didn't spend much time with it because my PC sucked and I had no internet also. I finished the campaign once and that was kinda it. It was only after MCC launched on PC that I was properly introduced to the series and it quickly became my favorite series in general. I obviously don't have the nostalgia factor attached to it but even though they were old games they didn't age at all as far as gameplay goes and they were just better than pretty much every modern shooter, that's why it didn't take long for them to end up as my #1 series. My personal favorite is Reach and 3 is close second.
Bro I almost cried like legit teared up. You took me through memories and then reality hit about infinite, I share you exact thoughts and journey of infinite. I've messaged them, tag them in things and done everything I can to get straight answers and anything. Yet like others...nothing proper from them and they aren't listening to fans :(
Hey dude I fell ur pain I was playing halo back in 2002 best years off my life it's a damn shame gaming gone to hell thanks for this video means a lot to have a voice out thar
Great video! It seems like, by their own admission, that we the fans are a “threat” to what 343 considers success. Unbelievable! 🤦🏻♂️ Are they that stupid? Do they live in some corporate, Woke bubble, detached from the free market economic reality of pleasing your customers (fans)? Yes. Yes they do.
The only thing that will fix Halo is honestly to close down 343 and let someone else take a crack at it, 3 failed game releases in a row. Bungie woulda been shutdown if they had done this and we all know it
@@andrewmeyer3599 100% agree. Halo will either continue down this path of mediocrity until its just another generic sci-fi series or 343 will get a major overhaul of its management and we can get a true halo game again. Hell at this point a halo title that's even half as good as Halo 3 would be amazing.
I have a tough time with this. I hate what 343 has done with the franchise. But I understand they’re in a tough position. Think about it. I was young when I played CE and 2, (split screen mostly which kids just don’t have today)and continued with the franchise as a teen. I’m in my mid 20s now. I barely have time for games. Then there’s the fans that were teens or in their 20s when CE/2 came out. They have even less time. Then look at how arena shooters just arnt popular anymore. Quake champions was a failure. The popular shooters today are more tactical or battle royale, even cod is dying. So they could either chase trends to get a younger audience or stay true to the franchise. But the older fans are quickly growing out of the main demographic for video games. Unfortunately what we ended up with was something that neither younger audiences or older fans wanted. We got a contentless live service that alienated old fans and had nothing for new fans. It’s a shame but I think halo should’ve ended after reach. Times and trends change and the arena shooter halo I love just isn’t popular anymore. 343 could’ve made a true fans dream, but the AAA is a money making game, and as much as all of us older fans are upset over infinite, we’re not going to get them the money they need, but even then games like split gate that emulate it well didn’t blow up. I think the time of arena shooters is just over. Also literally nothing about this game is woke idk wtf you’re on about there lmao
I'm in a similar boat. I'm almost 27 and have been playing Halo for the past 20 years, since my cousins first brought their Xbox over on Christmas one year. Got an Xbox, Halo, and Halo 2 when it came out. I've realized that I've mostly "aged out" of games. Games like Insurgency: Sandstorm and others from smaller studios are the only ones that still have "soul" anymore. You can tell $$$ wasn't the deciding factor in their development; the passion of the developers shines through. Microsoft's greed ruined Infinite, unnaturally rushed its development, and squashed 343's aspirations and creative energy. We got an empty shell of a Halo game with huge potential, and no tangible indications of improvement. I want it to thrive, but I'm not holding my breath.
I actually dropped out after completing the campaign once, after it resolved a plotline that I had been waiting for the better part of a decade to see unfold (the Created Rebellion) almost entirely offscreen, in favour of returning to a status quo (humanity as the underdog, being hunted by an alliance of aliens) that I had honestly grown sick of by the end of the Bungie games. To say nothing of how nonsensical said resolution was. To me it exposed that 343i doesn't have confidence in its own ideas, and after that realisation, it just becomes impossible to stay invested in a setting I had grown up alongside. After all, why bother caring about any interesting ideas that crop up when 343i are one community backlash away from scrapping them, regardless of potential?
yep every game was a bait and switch, ho no oni is dark and nope, ho no the master chief has gone rogue but not really, look a forerunner the didact what could have been a more compelling character we could have been facing halo 4 5 and 6. when we could have be diving in the way the didact thinks learn more about his wife and were she has gone perhaps cover the scars left on him by his time with the flood and maybe have a good reason to bring them back. wait nope were just gonna toss his entire compelling story off a wall and go with AI uprising and people really didn't like that so now brutes again fun but the story is means nothing now
Watching this makes me wish I got some more video footage from back in the day on my camcorder. Excellent video dude. I think you're encapsulating the general feeling that many Halo fans are experiencing.
weirdest part about these videos is how surreal passage of time feels. 2004 feels almost like yesterday. i remember my middle school crush and how exciting it was to have her over at my house and eating and watching tv together. i remember playing halo with those monster crt tv's. it really doesn't feel like that long ago. im 30 now, but i still feel the same as i did when i was in high school. but then i look at footages of that time, and everything just looks dated and old. feels so strange almost like reality is a dream.
It has been an absolute pleasure to share our Halo experiences together over nearly 20 years. We wouldn't even have ever met 17 years ago if it wasn't for Halo.
beat campaign loved it, and then the high came down and I began to realize it was fun to play but the story was not gonna to fix the dumpster fires halo 5 caused this is the 3rd time they did a complete jump and 180 around and I just can't take how much halo has jump around it was ruined any kind a story the game could ever have.
Thank you for making this. It helped me a lot. I’m always going to miss the Halo 3 days. Whether it was making machinima, grinding Bungie vs The World day for Recon, or building maps for the weekly file share. Those days aren’t coming back. And I think I need to take a step back from this unfamiliar franchise.
I went to boarding school, and split player Lan was God. I remember getting it working and just, it was literal heaven to be with all your bros just playing halo
Modern day gaming is just botched live services that get abandoned by fans, devs, or both; losing most if not all of the momentum a game had. First impressions are so powerful and at this point any newcomers to the series that already left probably won't come back regardless of the state of the game. It's very sad and frustrating to see. Also great video.
If you made a script, very well writing man 👏. I think you speak for most if not all of the community. Also great editing too, keep it up. Love these documentary kind of videos. ☮️❤️
Dude. I feel it. I was there since the beginning. I was a hardcore XBox guy, spitting at PlayStation all because of Halo. I remember the hype of the games as they released, saving up cash in a poor home to afford the newest game. After the years of games and the thousands of interesting people, I was sold on Halo being the greatest game to ever exist. Eventually though I hit the same conclusion. Halo just didn’t hit as hard as it used to. It started picking up features from the CoD games and other hit FPS games. Then you get the shit that is our now. Halo became just another FPS game with all the same controls and features. Game modes similar all across the genre. I never made it to Halo 5. I see Infinite now and just pure disappointment. Having to pay for everything in a game that isn’t even complete. Cheating running rampant already. Since my falling out with Halo games, I couldn’t ever get into a game the same way.
i feel you. my best gaming memory came from 2007 when halo 3 was launched. i was 8yo and myt big brother (16) bought the game and i was allowed to play all night with him. It was so fucking awesome, it was probl first time i could just play till 4am, eating chips and so on. Halo was my first real game and i fall in love with it, playing shitton with my childhood best friend. i still have same hope and passion towards halo in future but i cant play infinite, it is just way too boring. i really wanted it to succees. I have been playing Fortnite daily many years now (to the level iam compiting for cash prices) and it made me appreaciate Epic games for innovating, keeping the game intresting becasue they update the game weekly, new seasons, new maps, creative, new shit all the time. The biggest problem of fortntite is the skillgap between players. Also as you probl know there is no building game mode now, and its popping off. take your friends and start playing again, its so fun with new mechanics. Also when you start you get waay easier lobbies so you dont feel like everyone is unbeatable. Have fun!"
I remember seeing the videos of youtubers praising Infinite before release, then once it released they did a slow 180. It was a community wide sense of grief, seeing their franchise just slowly sinking. Hoping that the TV show would save it until they saw what it was when it came out.
Yo me being 31 as well! The memories floods through this video. But it does makes sense. My friend and I rarely play halo infinite anymore. We play ROCKET LEAGUE!!
After experiencing inifinte and the Halo Tv series (episodes 1 & 2), I'm afraid of what might happen to this IP. The bean counters are going to see the dip in revenue and assume people just don't like Halo anymore. That breaks my heart.
Man, Nothing will compare to the Halo 1, 4 tv lan parties back in High School. like the wild west of gaming... new people would come see the 4 tv's around a big ass table and you'd just watch their mouth drop as their mind was blown.. probably one of the best times in my life.
I'm a few years younger than you, so my Halo journey started with Halo 2. However, as an early birthday present I BEGGED my parents to get me the Halo 3 Xbox 360 with the game, and that was where my Halo journey truly began. So many fond memories of joining 16 player customs and grinding online for all the different achievements to get the armors, and not to mention just grinding for that sweet sweet EXP to flex on my friends. Halo 3 was truly one-of-a-kind, and as much as I LOVE Reach, it still stands as my favorite Halo of all time. Anyways, fantastic vid mate! I sure hope one day we all get the Halo game we deserve.
Your right In fact the only games I Call Halo I miss having my family over every few weeks We would always do 4 player everything on all the Bungie Halos. I still have memories of always coming 1st place because I was that good at the game while everyone else would tell me I’m cheating Because I looked at there screens But I couldn’t help it and I was also just a pro at the game My favourite times of my life I wish I could relive it again. My life would not be complete without Halo Why played a big Part of my life and was why I got into Video Games. the Bungie halos would always be my games I can relive my fun all the time. Just last year I played on Christmas Day with my long time friend and my new family member who was 10 we had a blast playing CE 2 3 Reach I can happily say the best time of my life Since my last favorite time having fun was Halo Reach.
Dude, this is the most heart breaking nostalgia trip I have ever taken. I haven't enjoyed a multiplayer experience since Halo 2 Multiplayer. Thank you for making this video.
Halo 3 forge custom games were truly the peak of my adolescence gaming. Everyone had halo and the never ending custom maps made it fun to play every night. I remember a map called Hurricane Katrina where all the debris flies at you was the best. I’ll never forget how fun that was stuff was man, truly blessed to grow up when I did!
Same here, I just turned 30 a few months ago, been playing since Halo 1, so about 20 years. My younger brother and I describe Halo Infinite (multiplayer, not campaign) as washed out, like watered down, in some ways it's disappointing for sure. That was an amazing video my dude, you deserve so many more subs, I hope this gets millions of views
Amazing video. The experiences I had on Halo 3 shaped my life. It was a defining factor in my development when I was in middle school and high school. Great video, I heavily related !!!
Bro I feel ya 😩 been playing myself since launch of CE and I am 34 now. I still remember struggling to learn the dual joy sticks, super gluing my buddies controller to the carpet to win, endless hours on my buddies I close porch playing, system link parties, and it goes on and on! This series has taken a turn for the worst since 343i took over and it’s more prevalent now then ever before! Playing this new one is numbing and frustrating being it’s so repetitive…gaming as a whole isn’t there anymore…not like how it use to be
I remember playing halo combat evolved for the first time 20 years ago as well, it feels just like yesterday. It truly breaks my heart to see the current state of the franchise right now especially after hearing about co-op being canceled for infinite.
System link was huge for us growing up too. Also, please stop apologizing and walking on egg shells by saying stuff like “I’m not trying to bash”. Bash away. 343 wholeheartedly deserves it. They have been ruining this game for a better part of a decade. I quit cold turkey just like you did too.
@@TwoQuickOnes none of us are trying to make enemies tbh. But I don’t mind making some if it means speaking the blunt truth about 343 and the current state of Halo.
@@TwoQuickOnes I gave 343 3 games in my all time favorite series. Thats enough fucking patience tbh. They consistently got worse and worse with every release and they listened to NONE of the feedback from the past DECADE. They can't even be asked to put out a complete OR functional fucking GAME anymore; Halo 5 might have been light on content but this shit is just fucking insulting. No, No. I'm done with 343. I'm not done with Halo, though I question why microsoft didn't safeguard their most iconic and profitable IP from that bastardization of a tv show, but I'm done with anything that 343 or any of the leads involved in it besides Joe Staten put there hands on. I do not feel for them at all. They fucking deserve the hate they get, and they deserve the death of any audience and profitability that is coming as a result of their continued choices. You know who I feel bad for? I feel bad for Halo. I feel bad for Joe Staten, watching his baby die as he got back just in time to make it a silent death instead of a painful loud one. I don't care any more, and no one else should either. People need to stop making excuses for horseshit like this. Its been OVER A DECADE and they still haven't gotten their shit together, not even ONCE. You get the products you deserve people. Stop supporting this trash.
@@Airtroops83 I'm with you all the way, I'm tired of having to argue with people who defend the mockery ( Halo 4 - Infinite/tv show )of my favorite franchise. Infinite was their last chance to turn things around. Not only did they do away with the traditional level based campaign, they didn't even deliver on the "open world" they were going for. You would think after 10+ years we would have a cutscene with Chief and the Arbiter by now. The biggest silver lining with 343 Halo for me is that Sergeant Johnson was killed off so they couldn't bastardize his character.
I can empathize with this a lot too. I grew up with halo, and i thank it for making me the gamer i am today to put it very shortly. Ive played every halo game a ton, and even all parts of MCC consistently over all these years. Last week i uninstalled infinite and not sure when ill ever give it another chance. With the budget, time, and resources microsoft gave 343, disappointed is the understatement of the century. Sure there are things to like about infinite, but the way I see it, the pinnacle of the overall halo experience was reach and since it has been such a large difference in overall quality when 343 took over. They’ve had 10 whole years, 3 main releases… all with an IP that defined a genre of gaming and an amazing formula that kept people around for years after launch. How silly I feel thinking infinite would be like the golden age of halo, where everyone you knew was playing, even years after launch.. being an above average player on the west coast, online is a terrible experience ESPECIALLY when i try to play with friends that arent halo vets like me and you. None of them have even thought about the game since launch month
Ugh, this hit me right in the feels. I was a little older when I discovered Halo, but my story is pretty similar. Why, just why did they have to ruin it?😭
I absolutely adore the time I grew up in. I hate that kids nowadays won't get to experience how cool gaming used to be when most things that came out were passion projects and gaming was an actual community that loved each other instead of the miserable, overcompetitive, microtransaction shitshow it is now.
Games were a work of art, with visible passion from its creators. Now its a babysitting service with no heart and younger gens eat it up without a thought
Played since 3 years old, now I’m 22. I remember playing split screen with my dad and brothers and playing campaign over and over and calling hunters biggys and calling the energy sword the slicer and not knowing wtf a heretic was. Halo was truly amazing and its really nothing but disappointing to look at where it is today. And like ODST? Shit was a spin off and was 100x better than infinite, I love that game. I hope Halo 3 remaster can bring back whats left of the community but honestly it’ll probably just be another shitty cash grab. Btw my colors were always primary red with secondary yellow. And my emblem was a red spartan head with a brown cowboy hat. Always chose to play as an elite too. I really miss it.
Great video man! Some of my fondest memories with my friends are the countless nights playing halo on lan, barely sleeping the whole weekend. When times were simpler.
I have the same feeling towards Halo Infinite as you do, I was expecting this brand new game to keep me occupied and it was fun for a little while but just as you said there wasn't enough to keep us in the game, I had more fun playing og Halo Reach with my friends on Xbox Live for 10 years than I did with Halo Infinite, I just kinda want a good Halo game that rivals that of Halo CE, Halo 2 and Halo 3.
I played hunter for a while and Your experience with COTW reminds me alot of mine. It makes me so happy to see someone enjoy my favorite game. Easy like and subscribe from me mate and hope to one day Halo can return to its former glory. 👍
Perfectly said... thankyou for encapsulating how everybody feels exactly about halo's current state, hopefully the right people who can make a change to the halo series before its not too late sees this video. Long live Halo!!

I remember saying it should be delayed with the complete lack of meat on the bones and was told that was a dumb idea because its already been delayed. 343 has killed halo with incompetence.
Damn. I love your vids man. Sad that all of our frustration with 343 has brought us to the same place.
Just one more delay!”
Even over a year of post release patches still has the game in utter shit state.
@Molecule Mind it’s absolute Dogshit and I’m on a RTX 2080.
But as far as Halo infinite is concerned I wish the best for it, but I probably won’t be returning back to it
i feel all of online went to the dogs a long time ago
They already got your and all the other consumers money. 343 will cry themselves to the bank now.

Good to know I still play mcc all the time
With a budget like that, I don't understand why it came out with LESS than the standard stuff (playlist types, co-op campaign etc).
Here it is, we'll bring the rest out shortly."
And it tastes *really* good at first.

In short this
@@punchykarma6685 They wanted a game like *Destiny.
And as soon as you say that forge is now in infinite 💀

I’m quitting 343, love halo but 343 have done nothing but fuck it up. A new dev team needs to take this series over before the final nail is hammered in.
I would defs be open to a new dev team taking a crack at it
I honestly believe that this was the final nail. This was the biggest buzz halo has had since 3 and for many, a first experience with halo. I don't see infinite making a coming back and I don't see the gaming community taking any more interest into a new halo.
If they want to save Halo from their own incompetence they need to release the source code and development tools for the MCC games.
I'm in the same boat. At this point I refuse to participate in anything that 343 has a part in going forward
Good stuff dude. Hope to see more content from you in the future 👍

I hope your friend is doing well now… :(
i'm sorry to hear that 😔
I’m sorry to hear this man.
I hope your friend is doing better now man. God bless
Damn.. this actually brought a tear to my eye, when you were talking about LAN parties.. i was always the youngest/smallest one, friends called me WeeMan. God.. how i miss those days. Rip Halo
I miss those days. Internet gaming is great but can never replace the feeling of 16 homies at the same house playing Halo CE.

If I want to play a modern CoD I'll just play BO1. The formula has barely changed since 2010.

Infinite will very likely not be where it needs to be by 2023
Halo has been horribly mismanaged since 343 took over in my opinion.
Same here, Infinite ain't worth my time
Sick of accepting games...1st world problems eh....grow up
Same here. I quickly went back to MCC where the gameplay is just simply more fun. I only wish that new maps and content could still be pushed out for the older Halos but obviously Infinite is their only cash cow right now.

My sisters used to play Halo 2 with me and my bros. A lot.

Lucky you were able to play it at 5 years old I was only a year old when Halo Combat Evolved came out in 2001.
"BALL DROPPED!"
Also, excellent video my guy!

@@andrewmeyer3599 100% agree. Lmao woke and corporate do not go together
Lol saaame
343 has failed since the franchise was handed off to them. I don't know why anyone thought this would be different
I'm glad u even had a TL:DR in the first 5m. It's why I even came back to finish. Great production btw 👏

Modern day gaming is just botched live services that get abandoned by fans, devs, or both; losing most if not all of the momentum a game had. First impressions are so powerful and at this point any newcomers to the series that already left probably won't come back regardless of the state of the game. It's very sad and frustrating to see.

Dude.
Welcome to the party, some of us have been feeling this way since H4.

Also where I picked up the gametag I've had since Xbox Live launched almost 20 years ago, I quit
343 honestly screwed up halo and its story.
THE DEFINITE HALO : Halo 1, 2 .3 , ODST and reach. The rest is honestly sht
Someone else should take the mantle of responsibility, 343 have done nothing but fuck the entire world up.
@@JazzOLantern I don’t want 343 To ever touch halo again I hate them for what they did Everything Including shutting the old games down.
Infinite felt like one of those weird 2006 games where you start playing and 2 hours later you’re just like “that’s it?”
Amazing video. The experiences I had on Halo 3 shaped my life. It was a defining factor in my development when I was in middle school and high school. Great video, I heavily related !!!
Yes!!! Really glad!!
Playing this new one is numbing and frustrating being it’s so repetitive…gaming as a whole isn’t there anymore…not like how it use to be
My god UNREAL Tournament 🤘🏻🤘🏻 why haven’t we got another installment on that game!
And the Bawls energy drink??!! Bro where have you been my whole life haha NO HOMO
@@Blu3Bandit 😂😂😂
I feel it bro 😔
I remember playing halo combat evolved for the first time 20 years ago as well, it feels just like yesterday. It truly breaks my heart to see the current state of the franchise right now especially after hearing about co-op being canceled for infinite.
System link was huge for us growing up too. Also, please stop apologizing and walking on egg shells by saying stuff like “I’m not trying to bash”. Bash away. 343 wholeheartedly deserves it. They have been ruining this game for a better part of a decade. I quit cold turkey just like you did too.
Haha I appreciate that!! I’m not here to make enemies..just sharing my story..
@@TwoQuickOnes none of us are trying to make enemies tbh. But I don’t mind making some if it means speaking the blunt truth about 343 and the current state of Halo.
@@TwoQuickOnes people will respect you much more for trying to make enemies with 343.
Let’s be real, Halo ended long ago when Bungie quit. Reach was the last beloved game of the franchise.
👏❤️ I share the exact same experiences you did. ESP with Halo CE. Thanks for the reminder on how great those days were.
Why, just why did they have to ruin it?😭
❤️❤️
Great work. It's clear you put a lot of work into this video and it shows. The music, editing and script are all top notch.
I too started playing very young and I recall calling flood spores eggs, and the carriers big eggs.
Im sorry to break it to you. You were using an unplugged controller….
Great video man! Some of my fondest memories with my friends are the countless nights playing halo on lan, barely sleeping the whole weekend. When times were simpler.
Cherish those memories! ❤️
❤️❤️❤️
Still have my original working Halo Edition Green Xbox.
People today have no idea how huge Halo was then. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
Perfectly said... thankyou for encapsulating how everybody feels exactly about halo's current state, hopefully the right people who can make a change to the halo series before its not too late sees this video. Long live Halo!!
