I loved the BIGGER DOOR HANDLES! When you are busy and have your hands full, you don't want to aim for a small handle to pull a door open, you want to generally aim in the door's direction & catch a handle. Speaking from experience.... The kitchen is looking amazing!!! I am so excited for you!!
Me too! Those larger ones look perfect. I installed too-small handles on my pantry doors recently - they looked fine but it felt weird when opening the door. I upgraded to the large size and the weird went away!
Me, four! (Three didn't call out her number.) I don't think they look too big because they are in proportion to the doors, which are big, too. If the doors were tiny, it would be another matter.
OMG, those larger door handles are gorgeous! They are the perfect proportion for those doors (I would even go a bit larger). I hope you haven't sent them back. You should try them for a while first. Can't wait to see which color you've chosen for the island.
“The fan came with a manual, but let’s say it was very… profound. I don’t know exactly what happens after Page 3…” I find it impossible to watch this show without chuckling at Phillip’s fabulously wry and often wicked wit! If the Chateau isn’t utterly exquisite enough, the cast of characters (including Benoir, Nathan, and Ziggy) make for the most wonderful bunch to get to hang out with for a bit. What a great place to travel to
I LOVE the large door handles...appropriate scale for the doors. After they acquire their 'natural' patina, they will look even better...more subtle. Thank you for the wonderful and satisfying video💗
I think the large ones look better. Stand back from the door. The height of the door easily takes the larger ones and gives proper perspective. The height of the room would make the small ones look like a doll house!
I am a cabinet maker by trade and if you really look at the big doors they should have the bigger handle. And for wood turning you should use a face shield and dust mask.
I love the videos but watching this work going on without protection of eyes, mouth/nose, ears makes me so nervous. My grandfather was a carpenter and died of stomach cancer after years of inhaling wood chips, apparently it is a common cause.
I like the large ones too. When they’re tiny, compared to the scale of door/room/house, it can look chintzy. No doubt whatever you do will work out, of course! Just a perspective
Shirley Harold -- I totally agree with you, the small handles look just odd on such a large door. I hope they were just urging the subscribers to comment, but they knew already the large ones would properly fit the door.
@@larainejones4641 they’re talking about the size. I like the size , it’s sturdy. The kitchen is a very busy work area and needs the sturdy door handles. When you stand back the big handles are beautiful
OMG! I laughed so hard when you said, “66.6, OMG that’s the big beast, then 33.3, OMG little beast”. Regarding the large door handles for the large cupboards, I love them, but of course it is your kitchen. Looks like Bernard is giving back as good as he gets from you. I live the call camaraderie and humor between the both of you.
Especially when his wife walked in right after he said it. Lol Also, watch what he says at 1:01 on the newest episode called “Taking on a New Historic Renovation”. 😂
I love the new handles and pulls. I think the handles are a great size for that size door and it’s a matter of getting used to the difference in size from the tiny ones.
The best part of a new kitchen is when it’s finally all done, everything is put away and you sit and have your first cup of coffee or first meal and breathe the biggest sigh of relief! I can’t wait to see the kitchen progress. I’m sure it will be as lovely as the rest of the Chateau!
Hahaha Benoir roasting Phillip is my favourite 🤣 Benoir's mistakes are still perfect it's ok hahahaha I hope he'll still be a constant presence even when the chateau is done renovation. Cant wait to see the kitchen completed!
I actually like the big door handles, they are suitable for the scale of the doors. You guys are really making great progess! Oh and Ziggy is soo cute!!!
Omg I’ve sat here watching Phillipe do the electrics and kept bursting out with laughter! He is so funny, brilliant! I love the connection between him and the furniture maker, it’s just so funny! Does his sense of humour make you laugh or does it go over your head by now?! 🥰🥰🥰
Ahhh the plight of the father and husband... all the blame when anything fails and you get no respect for the stuff that turns out perfect. I am sending Phillip a huge attaboy for his extractor fan and spotlight installation! Love this episode!
Have a look on Pinterest for ageing brass. I literally typed in “How to age brass” and lots of different methods came up. Some using shop brought Brass Ager and others using things like cider vinegar. They all give a slightly different patina and finish so it’s best to have a look and see which finish you prefer. Hope this helps? I also love the big handles on the doors. I think the doors and room can handle that size but it’s your kitchen so you must do what you like as you are the ones living with it over the years. It’s going to be stunning. Oh and please wear safety glasses when doing things like wood turning. It’s not worth the risk of getting a wood splinter in your eye. X
Yes! The larger cabinet handles, for sure! Everything’s coming along so well. Kudos to Phillip for the exhaust fan and lights. I love how he measures! I do the same!!😆😆😆
Wonderful to see that Patrick Stewart and his lovely wife are back to help you. I thought for a moment Phillip got his wish and the wood panels were painted orange. Everything is looking fantastic, fingers crossed on the glass sizing.
I agree! The larger handles are gorgeous and really make a statement. Don't send them back!! They are in proportion to the doors. Everything else looks amazing. ❤
The design and craftsmanship going into this kitchen is just beautiful, but, may I say, that the aerial drone shots are showcasing the beautiful park grounds coming to life, all that winter work is paying off. Love the channel guys,
The larger brass handles look fantastic. The brass will age relatively quickly on its own as long as you don’t polish it. Zingy is adorable! Is he a vizsla?
Seriously….I love the larger door handles! Doors that are floor to ceiling need bigger/longer handles and look proportionate, if that makes sense. The smaller doors need a size smaller. The kitchen is starting to look fabulous…can’t wait for the reveal! 👍🏻🥰🙏
I'm quite amazed by Philip's level in French, accent is nearly perfect and vocabulary is very riche. Considering he is native in 2 languages and more than fluent in English too that's a great achievement. Even my wife (also native in German and polyglot skeaking 5 languages fluently) who has been living in France for 20 years does not have quite such a vocabulary. I guess some are gifted. All the best for the rest of this fantastic journey 🙂
I started Duolingo French. And I’m not sure if it’s because I watch this show or because I’ve been reading Canadian cereal boxes my whole life. But whatever it is it’s working. I’m loving the French immersion here. Thanks for French lessons.
The larger brass handles look perfect on that size door!!! Hope you’ll see all the comments and keep, they looked great!! Such a beautiful renovation. I literally laugh at loud at Phillip! So funny!!
Use the new door handles, they are very well proportioned for the scale of the doors and will look really nice with how they match the pulls. Especially as they age!
I agree, they’re in proportion with those tall doors! And if in the future they have a breakfast chef with big hands, he or she will be more comfortable! 😝
I agree with previous comment those larger door handles are perfect for those doors the small ones are bit lost on those big doors. How absolutely gorgeous is Ziggy he's adorable Philip you did a great job but gosh you are a crazy bloke.Love watching both you and Anna renovate your beautiful chateau. Thank you so entertaining .
I also vote for the larger door handles. I thought they were just right and looked impressive. I also like the existing finish and would let them age naturally IMO. Love the kitchen design. Your channel is so fun to watch. Thanks for the content. And for the humor, Philip. You always bring a smile to my face. 😁
Aging brass is surprisingly easy! If its lacquered, use acetone to remove the lacquer first. Then put them in an airtight container with strong (high %) vinegar. Thats it. The vinegar doesn't even have to touch the brass, just the fumes can age it. I did it on new handles for an antique piece and you'd never know!
I don't care that i have to read the subtitles, I could watch Benoit and Phillip banter together for entire videos 😆 they have such a natural humor that is clearly born from a true, genuine friendship. Only true friends can deliver such exquisite roasts 😂 Benoit chuckling at Phillip attempting to turn the wood was just 👌
The larger door handles are perfect! Especially after they get a beautiful patina on them they’re gonna be absolutely perfect. They look a lot more refined with the patina. But size wise and everything they’re just perfect.
I would suggest keeping the large door handles. They’re quite stunning, provide greater ease to open, a necessity in a kitchen, and would argue that they’re the right scale/proportion. Always a personal choice, but, my 2 cents!
This was fun. Loved Phillips banter. Look at the handles from a distance, in the video. The new ones are a much better scale. Go for the larger handles. Ziggy is adorable!
Definitely go larger. Otherwise they look like “pimples” on a door. The larger handles are in proportion to the size of the door. And the larger can give an even “pull” apposed to a smaller handle which causes more stress on the handle

Your videos are exhilarating. I savor your wit, choice of music, and fortitude. Also your artisanal approach to preserve harmony and history in the renovation is inspiring to me. The beauty and romanticism is wonderful to watch.
Anna and Philipp, once again, I'm smiling all the way thru the video. I love it when Benoit is included and your parents seem to be enjoying helping out. Feels like family.🥰
I would go with the larger door handles with the larger doors. Love Phillip’s sense of humor and Ziggy is so adorable. The kitchen is looking good. Must be challenging to have guests while undergoing a kitchen renovation. Looking forward to seeing it completed 😍😘
You guys are getting good at this. I mean not just the work around the chateau (that's a given) but the narration you do during the video. Some of the remarks are not only informative but witty and humorous as well.
THE BIGGER DOOR HANDLES look great! Can be aged with a mixture of cider vinegar and table salt in a plastic co container for about an hour, bake in the oven for an additional hour.
Love the larger door handles & all the rest of the fixtures for the kitchen🤗❤Ziggy is quite a character.kitchen is coming on nicely.🤗🤗 Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Ziggy is shaping up to be a real character. The kitchen will be spectacular! If I can put my two cents in I don’t think those handles are too big at all for those doors. Those doors are really tall!
The larger handles looked perfect, in proportion to the scale of the doors and the room. I was so excited to watch this vid, you would have thought it was my own kitchen. Living vicariously.
The bigger handles for the doors will look terrific!!! Not to worry, the aged look will come soon enough since it is not lacquered. It will be interesting to see it age naturally. So nice to see the progression of your work and it will look wonderful when completed. Yes... Goggles, goggles!!! Safety first, please! Lovely to see your mom is back for a visit and some helping hands in the garden ❤. Have a good week Anna, Philipp and team!!!
The large door handles looked in proportion to the doors. We used a salt and vinegar soak to age brass for a show once years ago. It looked great. We left the pieces in for an hour, then aged further the bits we wanted darker in short bursts. We used pickling vinegar because it was the only one we could get hold of in large quantities.
I love the BIGGER door handles. I love the more squarish angles and they complement the size of the doors. Also, the new shininess of the polished brass will age best without chemical interference. The kitchen looks lovely.
Phillip, you continue to put a smile on my face with your dry humour....you and Benoit comparing the fine jobs you do...hilarious! Can't wait to see your kitchen finished! No doubt it will be fantastic! I have to say I like the bigger door handles on the bigger cupboards. I had to make the same decision when my kitchen was renovated and from experience, I think you'll be much happier in the long run, with the bigger ones.
You always make me smile…what a tremendous amount of hard work you put into your home…..and it’s so good to see your Mum and Dad back again. Just love Benoir, great guy.
The larger door handles are perfect! My subzero has integrated panels and the handles are massive and they are perfect for the scale! I think the handles in the newer kitchens have larger more gorgeous handles lately! They’re like jewelry to the kitchen ❤️
Ziggy is adorable. Congratulations. One thought (please don't scream) but we've always had two dogs. They have their own canine relationship - physically and mentally - and they can be much easier to manage, for example, if you leave Ziggy at home alone for a while he won't mind so much if he has a friend with him. The whole thing sounds more complicated but REALLY , it isn't; life is so much easier and the dogs adore playing with and grooming each other, etc. Just a thought (smiles)... Your kitchen is getting better and better. Well done!
I loved the BIGGER DOOR HANDLES! When you are busy and have your hands full, you don't want to aim for a small handle to pull a door open, you want to generally aim in the door's direction & catch a handle. Speaking from experience....

Agree the scale seems out, love your style choices
OMG, those larger door handles are gorgeous! They are the perfect proportion for those doors (I would even go a bit larger). I hope you haven't sent them back. You should try them for a while first. Can't wait to see which color you've chosen for the island.
Agree! They looked the right size for those large doors!
I agree… Big handles. Don’t send them back!
Not too big
Perfect proportions for the large handles!
I agree!
“The fan came with a manual, but let’s say it was very… profound. @Michelle yes! Couldn't agree more 🤩
Indeed. The banter in the Phillip and Bênoit Show is top notch.

yep, so the man glitter won't get in your eyes and mouth🤣
Yea, I'm sure this was their first day doing it. They definitely don't have years of experience behind them.
Omg I'm certainly not a cabinet maker and even I was wincing at all the wood chips flying everywhere. Imagine getting that in your eye!
I love the videos but watching this work going on without protection of eyes, mouth/nose, ears makes me so nervous. My grandfather was a carpenter and died of stomach cancer after years of inhaling wood chips, apparently it is a common cause.
The large door handles looked great….they compliment the huge doors…..use them👍

Shirley Harold -- I totally agree with you, the small handles look just odd on such a large door. I hope they were just urging the subscribers to comment, but they knew already the large ones would properly fit the door.
The scale was fine but the form was a bit chunky. They need to be a bit more delicate, more refined.
larrimo s Exactly what they said not the size the style
@@larainejones4641 they’re talking about the size. I like the size , it’s sturdy. The kitchen is a very busy work area and needs the sturdy door handles. When you stand back the big handles are beautiful

🤣
Ah yes, innocence on 2 or 4 legs…that leaves only Anna & the girls to be the guilty parties…Hummm🤔 is that fair//

I think his theme tune should be Absolutely Flawless by The Ones 🤣
Absolutely 😂😂👍
Which one is Philipp?
Someone knows how to get an OP like
An does not need protective glasses even when operating with the Drechsler 🙄

I like the large ones on the door handles. The scale of the room supports a look.
Definitely go larger. Otherwise they look like “pimples” on a door. The larger handles are in proportion to the size of the door. And the larger can give an even “pull” apposed to a smaller handle which causes more stress on the handle
I agree, big handles for doors are in proportion with the room as a whole. Love the expel air and down lights nook, overall looking fabulous. Quite excited to see the final reveal.
We are all pulling for you! Kitchen remodels are so disrupting to family life, but you’re almost there. You are making it great.
Thank you so much!
I love how you seamlessly integrate sponsors into your videos! Very smooth transition.
I love the large door handles too! Don’t return them!

Philip. You are just the funniest influencer on RUclips.
I agree with the other comments. The large door handles are great! I love how your kitchen is coming along. It’s going to be amazing!
I love everything about this video! The kitchen will be outstanding and all of your labour will be worth it. It took a bit of time before I totally believed you ARE an influencer of extreme proportions but the comment on ‘I don’t know what comes after page 3’ cemented it for me! 😄
Page 4 talked about the importance of safety goggles whilst wood turning
Your videos are exhilarating. I savor your wit, choice of music, and fortitude. Also your artisanal approach to preserve harmony and history in the renovation is inspiring to me. The beauty and romanticism is wonderful to watch.
Oh, wow, Anna, it looks stunning!! The door handles are gorgeous, don't age them, they will age all by themselves. Love your new kitchen!
Thankyou for extending your video's that touch longer..
Makes a huge difference.
Awesome vid guys, thanks.
Ziggy is tops!!!
Anna and Philipp, once again, I'm smiling all the way thru the video. I love it when Benoit is included and your parents seem to be enjoying helping out. Feels like family.🥰
Glad you like it!
I would go with the larger door handles with the larger doors. Love Phillip’s sense of humor and Ziggy is so adorable. The kitchen is looking good. Must be challenging to have guests while undergoing a kitchen renovation. Looking forward to seeing it completed 😍😘

Ageing brass can be done with Winegar and salt mixture.
I actually loved the big door handles
So nice to see Benoit!!! And Phillip makes me nervous with power tools 😝
I pray you eep some of the awesome wood grain look in your kitchen. It makes it so inviting when it is done well.
Those door handles are perfect! Remember they are going to get a lot of wear and tear!
THE BIGGER DOOR HANDLES look great! Can be aged with a mixture of cider vinegar and table salt in a plastic co
container for about an hour, bake in the oven for an additional hour.
You have the BEST chateau channel out there. Phillip is a hoot! Anna is a doll. Love the kitchen.
Loved the bigger door handles! Ziggy is just so cute! I excited to see the kitchen complete. Great video as always.💜
Philip is hysterical, and Nathan's humor dry and fantastic! What a great video to watch!
Love the larger door handles & all the rest of the fixtures for the kitchen🤗❤Ziggy is quite a character.kitchen is coming on nicely.🤗🤗

I have been looking forward to a kitchen update. Can’t wait to see!
Ziggy is shaping up to be a real character. The kitchen will be spectacular! If I can put my two cents in I don’t think those handles are too big at all for those doors. Those doors are really tall!
The kitchen is going to be amazing! You two are so hard working … and funny as hell!!
The larger handles looked perfect, in proportion to the scale of the doors and the room. I was so excited to watch this vid, you would have thought it was my own kitchen. Living vicariously.

So thankful we were able to stay with you all at the chateau and excited to follow the kitchen renovation. Good luck!
It's Monday in the US & I so needed an episode of intelligent humor & great craftmanship - well done
Have you considered beveled glass for those doors? More expensive I know but adds that touch of je ne sais quoi.
I liked the larger door handles!
"Omg, it's the number of the little beast"🤣🤣🤣
I buried my handles in the garden for 3 months and there perfect now matching the ones still here in my 1900 house.
"omg i'ts the number of the little beast" had me cracking up 😂
It is wonderful watching a professional at work🤠❤️. Well done self!
You guys are so fortunate you have been able to do all this work. Amazing. I love both of your accents. Philip you are definitely a man's man.
Go with the larger handles, looks better on the large doors.
Had to stop to comment on how funny Philip is 😂😂😂🤣🤣 only a skilled intelligent chap can make fun of himself. Fabulous progress with the kitchen👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well done!
