    This for me is very helpful, I need to also play / learn this on my lute, were the strings are in fourths also, so perfect to learn on both instruments

    If look at the modes dorian is natural. Play the same steps backwards from octave you get the same scale, like a mirror. Now phygain your get the major scale same for every mode above and below dorian. You could say every mode has its own pair by playing steps backwards but more know as undertones
