Nice videos Pete :-) I have removed the 8 torx but it feels like its bolted somewhere or maybe it needs to be lifted in on side first? Ots the outher side that feels not loose. Do you remember how?

great video - is there a way to move the seat back mechanically without unscrewing anything if the electric won't work? R129 2002

Not that I know of but usually you can jump the wires and make it move. I've had to do this before in another car. You can use a battery and jump the forward or backward wire

How do you get to the bolts if the seat motor is not working to move the seat.

    • @petescarport

So if the motor still works but not getting power you can jump the plug that controls motor using a battery and ground. If motor is shot you should be able to remove motor or the drive from motor and than slide the seat manual

Great videos on the R129! I have a 1992 500sl that I just inherited so I am very new to this. This is off topic but do you know much about the climate control unit. I believe I have the same on you do. Mine only works in automatic mode. None of the other buttons seem to work on it, well except for the off button. Automatic works fine and fan speed slows as it gets to temp. Any info would be much appreciated! And keep the R129 videos coming!!! Thank you

So I did a video on accessing the fan and blower motor relay. Sometimes the relay going bad will create weird issues like this. Mine happens to be bad and I will be doing a video on changing it very soon.
Also have you seen my other videos. I am about to start a whole series on making a 600-700hp widebody 500sl. This is why I removed seats and made video. It will be part of the make over

Pete’s Carport I thought I did but I’ll have to go back and look at the climate control video. Are those relays easy to get a hold of. I’m looking forward to the mods you’re gonna be going. Thank you and keep the videos coy!

I ended up buying a used climate control unit off ebay and now all works as intended! BUT I do have another question. I'm trying to locate the bass amp. Becker Auto Sound tells me it's under the floor mat on the passenger side. I don't see it. Since you pulled your seats out do you have that amp? It's a flat almost square box. Becker repairs their old radios. I want to keep my SL as stock as possible.
