- On the first anniversary of Shortland Street a special album was created in very limited numbers. This album consisted of two tracks, Track one Shortland Street Theme, Track Two: Shortland Street - The Club Mix.
CD was later released later on mass and in a plastic sleeve accompanied with the first edition of The Official Shortland Street Magazine. No official cover art was accompanied with this release, and the CD art itself promoted the "Heart" a new product from the Tip Top Ice Cream Company.
Theme and remix recorded and mixed at STL Recording Studios, Auckland, New Zealand on the 12th and 13th of May 1993.
Written, produced and engineered by Graham Bollard for STL Productions Limited.

@@stevok777777 we are on episodes from 2020 in Ireland. It was on 5.20pm then switched to anytime between 11am-12.30pm. Now it has taken over the two slots that were for Neighbours, 2.20pm and 6pm. It would s not very popular here as on when a lot of people still not home from work or college. I miss that they cut the theme song. I used to watch it until they first cut it from the 5.20pm slot.
I remember in the mid 1990's if I was off school either because of the holidays or being ill I used to watch this at about three in the afternoon, loved the theme tune a lot, for me it was part of the mysticism of that era, I miss the show and its a shame it was axed from the UK schedules, daytime TV is just not as good now.

I used to watch all the time in the 90’s when it was on ITV, yes it’s a shame they axed it 2003.

I was convinced that Shortland Street was going to be a sci-fi or ghost mystery when I heard the theme. It took me about 3 days to figure out it was just another soap, but with a great theme tune...
Watched this for the short period it was on... But I've never forgotten this haunting theme song. Love it. :)

It is a very moody piece of music and yes it has a haunting quality that the backing track really underlines

They should have released an instrumental version of this theme. This is the best theme song to a TV show I have ever listened to. Plus the show as a whole, New Zealand's best show of all time.

Got the theme tune on cd with an additional hiphop remix. Ace. A freebie with 'Shortland street' magazine. Also have a set of signed postcards. I was a Big fan!

Best soap on tv since 2016. If you'd stopped watching, start watching again. The storyliners have been taking some new drug or something, it's insane.

Back in the early 2000s, Canadians were able to watch Shortland Street on APTN (Aboriginal Peoples Television Network).
Too bad APTN discontinued it in Canada.

I remember my Mum used to love this show until ITV cruelly took it off of the air. Then after that Home and Away was as good as it got ... Never really were fans of Neighbours
This program should have been back on UK screens, Channel 5 should have contacted the makers of Shortland Street if they could screen it on the channel. It's a really amazing show.

2023: It's on the FreeVee app from 2021/2022. Someone has uploaded season 1 on RUclips, although some episodes a bit glitchy.
That would be South Pacific Pictures. The owners of Shortland Street 😂 . Not sure why they let them go out with such terrible encoding glitches. Better than nothing though.

Absolutely great music but wooden acting even though I used to watch it here in the UK. They pulled the plug on this show for some reason. But home and away plus neighbours survived, oh well!!! Could have been cell block h or young doctors. Nov 2020 🙄🤪 🤣😂 😁😃🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
