I love the local models concept. As a medical trainee, If we could get LLAMA within HIPPA compliant EMRs like epic and cprs it would literally free up half my day worth of notewriting and save lives by giving more time to actually do medicine. Hope those partnerships are in the works
Yes! The AI community is very lucky to have Meta/Zuck push the open source space forward so we can all have state-of-the-art private, localized models for use cases just like this.
@@chrishayes5755 It's 405b not 450b, and what you said is not how it works dumbass, usually these models are distilled into smaller partitions capable of running on consumer hardware for general use, by larger labs and companies with compute. I’m selling all my fancy expensive state of the art gaming items and saving up for future! VR, AI, and robot land here I come. PS Zuck is a fucking beast 🔥 he is on our side these days
Follow you on Twitter, and at first thought this was an imposter account because I couldn't believe the amount of subs lol. I expect that to change really quickly. Love your work, and love this interview. The Zuck seems like one of the big tech bros who has the greater good in mind. This is a huge milestone for open source competing against closedAI.
Mate this is incredible. 700 subs and you got THIS with ZUCK. I'm blown away, I'm really trying to start my own AI / Automation business and keep hitting walls of giving up my career as an HR Executive at a global company, the income, failure etc - you've shown me just what can be done. Legend.
In major label music promotion there are two roads promo managers know they can go by (...but in the long run there's still time to change the road you're on?). A. Give it away, give it away, give it away now...but then pull back on your fishing rod and ask people to "donate" or micropay on every "unit". This is when you've achieved a torrent of distribution from "giving it away". And B. License the snot out of it. Invoke IP lawyers. Pay dues in a policing agent (RIAA) that records every recordings issue (Archivist: Discogs). So what I perceive that Zuckerberg is doing is adopting the "give it away"...but if done right he can still make out in a big way.
Mark is a legend! There is no way open sourcing will make more money for Meta than keeping it private. He actually thinks it is better for the world and future of civilisation. Huge respect.
Zuck understands humanity of the 21st century, my take though. It's like making O2 available for everyone instead of refining it and bottling for profit.
Great questions around open and local LLMs. Open source AI will enable more innovation, simply because companies won't fear where they're sending thier data and maintain peace of mind when building new AI-native tech for customers.

idk what got into zuck but you gotta respect it ... if you want to earn back the trust of the public make as much as possible open source i hope meta inspires many other companies to be as transparent as possible
Bright side! There are so many things to fix in this society: the relation to the animals, the acceptance of our own decline and end, the care for life in its diversity, ... Opening the technology sounds as a step in a better direction.
Real Open Source Models != Open Weight Models Real Open Source Models: 1. The full source code, training data, and model architecture are publicly available 2. Anyone can inspect, modify, and retrain the model from scratch 3. Typically released under permissive licenses like MIT or Apache
Insightful discussion on AI with Mark Zuckerberg! SmythOS provides a secure and open platform to experiment with AI agents like Llama 3.1. #SmythOS #AIInnovation
Tried now, the 70B and 8B, very good. the 70B feels like GPT 3-5 or even GPT4oMini. The 405B actually has problems on Groq. By the way the 405B will be not possible to run on private GPUs...
Ok Mr. Zuckerberg, I admit, that I don't liked you in the past, but now.. you nailed it! My respect, huge value for mankind! In the future LLAMA will the Linux of AI, and OpenAIs GPT,.. well,.. maybe the OS/2.
Meta still needs to catch up with Google regarding developers, quality, ecosystem, etc. And also meta apps need to improve for users and what they really want, and getting rid of junk fake user accounts.
For those with short memories, until 2022 Zuck was saying the future of the world lay in the metaverse, throwing billions into a seemingly bottomless pit with little to show for it. Then, seemingly from nowhere, AI and ChatGPT came along & hit him smack bang in the face! OUCH!! And suddently metaverse, the technology he was so sure is the future he had changed the name of the entire company, was the last thing he wanted to talk about. People think these tech founds have got super-human vision. NO. They're just incredibly lucky people. Zuck literally has been saved by the AI boom. He was going entirely in the wrong direction, and his pride was not going to let him admit it. His obsession with metaverse was going to bankrupt Meta, with the irony of it all sticking like a sore thumb
Ya but you need a supercomputer worth tens of thousands of dollars to run llama 3.1, but still some smaller organizations can have access to this is awesome
how T F this looks so realistic .... if i didnt read the comments i wouldnt have known that this video is AI generated... AI generated videos cant be this long... how you managed to have it so long?
Well put, Zuck! Excited for Llama 3.1 (all models) I like your acceptance that maybe we could have done social media a little bit better 🤣 (although hopefully Threads will help with that).
Open vs closed. He’s right in that PCs won the open approach to computing… but by what measure? The closed mobile system has brought better security and privacy by comparison. Sure it’s negative in other areas, however when measured against customer outcome, it’s been a good win. Looking at open standards approach for AI, what will the measure of success be? He mention a few metrics, but like mobile, outcomes for people… that, hopefully, will be the driver and true measure. Not sales and market share.
Zuck looks slightly more human, man AI is really getting good.
if he grew sideburns I would kneel
I know. This guy know thing I need to know.
Zuck is upgraded with more skin like material
I know right! Zuck 2.0 is blowing Lex Fridman v.1.1 out of the water on conversational metrics

lmao
Literally came here to say he needs to quit tanning in the metaverse lol
He must be in a castaway scenario.
And the hobbit ears, man!
hahahahahahahaha
Zuck is on a crazy redemption arc. And I’m here for it

and great point about windows/apple hardware/software: linux software flourished by being run on commodity hardware that was ubiquitous as a result of windows popularity, though not coupled to its OS inherently
I’m selling all my fancy expensive state of the art gaming items and saving up for future! VR, AI, and robot land here I come. PS Zuck is a fucking beast 🔥 he is on our side these days
But stocks like Arm Holdings with the money you get!!
Legend.
He has a huge newsletter that has been pumping out useful info for a while.
He owns a massive newsletter with like 600k subscribers, he just expanded to YT.
Congrats to a good interview, @Rowan Cheung!
Thank you Laura, I’m so glad you enjoyed it!
@@rowanch was this 1 on 1 interview or you took the announcement and inserted your questions?
So fun that on the 'Bigs' Meta is the more open and OpenAI is the most closed
Wow. What a first interview. Way to come out with a bang.
Awesome interview Rowan. Great to see Zuck's vision for AI and Llama.
Zuck, thanks my brother. Appreciate you. Keep kicking ass. Open source is the way to go (at this stage). ❤
Thanks to Zuck…what an absolute legend !
3.1 is definitely a Windows OS reference
Mark, I am your biggest fan. Thank you so much for the work you do!
Super interesting, thanks for this Rowan.
Zuck is my hero. Disappointed that multi modal has been delayed but its fantastic a leading model is available for free.
This was great Rowan -- nice work and huge score.
Thank you, Meta!
This is what openAI should have always done. Kudos to Meta.
Amazing interview! Thanks
Mark is taking things in a great direction. The pivot over the last few years has been incredible to witness.
Nice to see Rowan on RUclips. Love the Twitter news& reports
Mark is a legend! There is no way open sourcing will make more money for Meta than keeping it private. He actually thinks it is better for the world and future of civilisation. Huge respect.
Why did Zuck stop applying the concealer halfway?
amazing interview
Zuck understands humanity of the 21st century, my take though. It's like making O2 available for everyone instead of refining it and bottling for profit.
The most sophisticated model ever released, tells you that 3.11 is greater than 3.9 😎
Great stuff Rowan. I can tell VR is the future, and when combined with AI it's going to change the world as we know it!
Great questions around open and local LLMs. Open source AI will enable more innovation, simply because companies won't fear where they're sending thier data and maintain peace of mind when building new AI-native tech for customers.
thank you Mark. you can dominate the sector if you coop closer with Groq. Their chips are insane
Good for Zuck for making it open source 👏 and I like the new Zuck btw 👌
Feels like this channel is going to be big... happy to be subscriber number 701 :)
I hope so too! Thanks for your support 😊
smokin' AI models! IMHO Zucc is a champion for doing this.
Great Interview Rowan.
Can you explain about the concealer?
Too bule to covering the skin
open sourcing models approaching AGI is insane! When (not if) this gets used by bad actors, Zuck better be liable to the harm!
Thank you for this interview.
holy shit. 666 subs and you interview zuck?
It will grow
I was like only 666k? crazy!
Rowan Cheung is the Founder of the world's largest AI newsletter, The Rundown AI. In just over a year, The Rundown has gained a following of over 600,000 subscribers and millions of monthly website visitors, grown primarily through organic word-of-mouth, who rely on the information provided by the newsletter daily.
Yup this is my first trek into video content. I’m bigger over on X and also write one of the world’s most popular daily AI newsletters 🙂
@@rowanch who is xwitter nowadays..... like real people.
What?! How do you not have 500k+ subscribers?
Now we know how Agent Smith appeared. Thank you architect Zuck.
I like the new relaxed look.
WAIT HOW DO YOU HAVE UNDER 2K SUBS BUT YOURE INTERVIEWING THE ZUCC
Its crazy that this has x150 the views on twitter and was released at the same time in both platforms.
Mr. Mark Zuckerberg is an amazing man of our universe. Takes much wisdom to create all he has done for many and hours. Thank you for the time you've taken for others. There is always something new. His gold chain with a prayer for family just may be another something new for others. ❤
idk what got into zuck but you gotta respect it ... if you want to earn back the trust of the public make as much as possible open source i hope meta inspires many other companies to be as transparent as possible
Huge leap towards AGI!
Bright side! There are so many things to fix in this society: the relation to the animals, the acceptance of our own decline and end, the care for life in its diversity, ... Opening the technology sounds as a step in a better direction.
Quest, React, PyTorch, Llama -- Go Meta. Go Zuck
The guy on the right is not human, well done mr. Zuck
Please you should ask about API access next time. We need free open source AI API endpoint
Hi Rowan, how do you manager to get Marc to do The podcast ? Do you work on meta ?
Keep it up ! From Portugal 🇵🇹🇵🇹🇵🇹👍🙏
Real Open Source Models != Open Weight Models
Real Open Source Models:
1. The full source code, training data, and model architecture are publicly available
2. Anyone can inspect, modify, and retrain the model from scratch
3. Typically released under permissive licenses like MIT or Apache
i asked Meta AI what the roadmap for Meta is over the next 100 years. it was very interesting
Its great for competition. OpenAI needs to catch a wake up and innovate.
That hair tho 😂
@@OutboundShaneone step away from becoming a dreadlock san francisco Jesus (God = AGi)
After threads I doubted zuck after WhatsApp I doubted zuck
Today onwards I will never doubt you zuck
I love how much potential agents have for SMB and creators. Mark's got a great vision :) Excellent interview!
It's just released and they probably suffer overloading issues. Give it a few days.
To be honest I'm very surprised how well developed the new model actually is. And Llama 3.1 is okay too, I guess.
Mr. Zuckerberg, thank you.
Ya but you need a supercomputer worth tens of thousands of dollars to run llama 3.1, but still some smaller organizations can have access to this is awesome
Zuck v2.0 is quite likeable.
Where do I get one?
So is this available on my Ray-Ban's yet? Because it's telling me it's still working with 3.0.
how T F this looks so realistic .... if i didnt read the comments i wouldnt have known that this video is AI generated...
AI generated videos cant be this long... how you managed to have it so long?
Well put, Zuck! Excited for Llama 3.1 (all models) I like your acceptance that maybe we could have done social media a little bit better 🤣 (although hopefully Threads will help with that).
How does such a small channel, get such a big interview?
I asked the same thing
He owns a massive newsletter with like 600k subscribers, he just expanded to YT.
will AI be able to dye my greying hair and order my gold chains> asking for mark
llama 3.1 8b is really nice!
Great interview
Why does Mark have a new interview out every week?
I guess I like Zuck now
love mark's drippy chain
1:47 "Good Cost per Performance Ratios" What exactly does that mean?
I think its like its cheaper to rent compute from amazon etc. and run llama than to pay for using chatgpt API
awesome video
I’m just gonna listen to this without staring at Zuckerberg
He's metamorphosizing into Dave Portnoy.
Not sales and market share.
model "Zuck 2024" - got out of uncanny valley and is almost human like
