Genoa (2024, also Genova, Génova, Genua) is a coastal city in Liguria in the north of Italy. Genoa played an important role as an important port since the Roman ages. Especially in the medieval period the city developed as an mediterrannean powerhouse and became a powerful maritime republic with many Genoese colonies and trade posts in France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey and the Middle East. The city became very rich because of these possessions and trade routes. Some highlights of the city are the historical centre with Piazza de Ferrari and the XX Settembre Street, the Castelletto quarter and Porto Antico. Genoa has a population of 600,000.

Excellent. It was moving to see these images. In the early 1880s, Genoa/Genova was the main port of departure for thousand of Italians, hardworking people who left their own country to seek for a better future for their families in the Americas (most in Brazil, Argentina and United States). They faced a long travel across the Atlantic in poor conditions. We the descendants honor their bravery and strength. Genoa is plenty of History.
