    As for the guy who wanted to tie up on the port side of his vessel there is one big advantage. It's much easier to back the trailer down the ramp with the dock on that side where you have better visibility.

    I swear I love the boat ramp channel but you really really need a Boyton Dock Blocker channel!!! that is the most fun especially with sea tow kicking back feet up waiting!!..

    I know very little of boats, but RUclips sent me here and I've been enjoying these videos. Is the "dock blocker" meant to be there? If not, why not dredge it to make the waterway less problematic?

    $$ can't buy you the talent or finesse reqd to be a captain, but I recommend the USCG Safe Boating course to all! (And while you're at it, basic physics wouldn't hurt)!

    6:55 Was she a hero or zero? She jumps off & keeps the boat from 'love-tapping' the dock (hero) . . . but otoh, she didn't grab a line (zero) before doing so & lets it get away (zero), then she runs barefoot to the other dock (hero), then gets the bow & stern secured there (hero). Hero 3, Zero 2. She's a hero!

    Question, I'm more familiar with South Jersey and there the channels are clearly marked. I have to believe they are clearly marked near the "blocker", correct? What am I missing then? Especially the dude that hit it 3 times, you have to be kidding me??

    It always amazes me on how calm the water is with the wind that strong. Up here by Lake Michigan, there would be 6-8 foot swells.

      In fariness, "everything going smoothly" wouldn't make for particularly compelling viewing, so we are almost certainly seeing a condensed summary of chaos in the docks.

    People choose a side due to the trailer backing capability or lack there of. I’m guessing. I worked with guys like this. They could only backup using the driver side mirror thus never able to parallel park with a trailer.

    I don't understand why they all seem to have 50' long dock lines all tangled up. I don't have a dock line longer than 15' for a 17' boat. Get a stern line to a cleat and idle ahead you are on the dock.

    It amazes me that the boats approaching the docks have no lines or fenders rigged and then wonder why they get in trouble and almost hit other vessels.
    The guy that grounded 3 times should sell the boat and find another hobby.

    Two points: 1) Why do so few captains (?) fail to just turn the engines and simply pull the stern over to the dock with a little throttle? They just drift around sideways like the boat will dock itself. 2) Captains (again ?) don't know to tell people to stop walking around because that just keeps tipping the boat and making control harder. OK, 3 points: 3) Have your God dam***d lines ready BEFORE you approach the dock !! Alright, I've calmed down. On the couch now to check my blood pressure. Note: I'm never bringing my boat anywhere near Miami !!

      I was wondering the same thing. It seems that not only on this vid but others as well, they always seem to push, pull, drag, and tow over the sand bar and against the current. Only SeaTow goes the opposite direction.

    Please explain to me why all of these captain's are making so many mistakes. Running the boat a ground, lines not ready before approaching the dock, unable to back up the trailer. Where I live there is none of this nonsense. Are you not required to have any training where this is.
