You're completely right I mean all the stuff that happened before the show even started he Lost his dad was shot with an arrow was tortured for constantly for hours lost his only friends and had to kill one of them got off the island lost his humanity because of the things he did under Walker, his only friends son dies finally decides to return home then is captured and tortured some more however a drug makes it 10 times more painful fainaly he gets home and then the events of the series take place in short he spends 11 years of his life getting through things so horrible that the devil is taking notes just to go to prison and have people try to kill him every other day not to mention that he is being used to destroy all that he stood for.
