Something I didn't really appreciate until *this* reaction... Upper Moon 4 would have just died as long as Tanjiro interjected and cut him out of his heart and exposed him to the sun. Tanjiro WANTED to behead him for making him have to choose between the demon and his sister.
Also a Trivia for Hantengu here ... He didn't had any split personality disorder... He was a liar to the core and murdered so many, thieved and changed his name so much that he forgot his OG name .... He always played victim card and got away until his luck finally run out....

So This went down a bit differently in the manga For one Hantengu's back story Was shown in one page as a fractured mirror behind him with different images of his life and then the data book It was explained that hantengu was so mentally ill (Although it never explicitly says what his condition is) and he told so many lies that he actually forgot what was true he had multiple children And wives but voices and his head would tell him that His wife was planning to kill him along with his children and he would have episodes of extreme rage where he would black out and awaken with a knife in his hand and his children and wife dead Since then he posed as a Begger faking his blindness & when confronted he blacked out And violently stabbed the man he called a friend. the series time setting took place And that time were mental illness wasn't understood So in that way he is technically a tragic character Imagine fighting something you do not know you have Because no one there's no research no fault on what is so everyone just blames you.
Also and his final fight Tanjiro is unable to decapitate the real Hantengu (his durability is too tough even with the sun) Hantengu is about to crush Tanjiro's Head like a watermelon Until his clone resentment also grabs onto Tanjiro's blade and uses its own strength to finally decapitate the main body as Hantengu is experiencing these fractured perspectives, his clone a manifestation of its own resentment chooses to atone for their sins while Hantengu desperately tries to survive...because The clone realised how much pain its life had caused... Imagine having mental illness for 200 years (Hantengu was 220+ A little younger than a Akaza)
I feel like since ken already watched this once he shouldn't have said anything during the Nezuko burning scene. Saying stuff like he better finish off the job before it got to the scene is hints and tips that don't need to be said. He was going from knowing what going on to pretending to shocked again. Idk if i was alex i would started figuring things out then felt spoiled.
The fact that Tanjiro proceed to kill UM4 even after witnessing Nezuko getting incinerated in front of his eyes is what makes him the greatest MC. He said to Giyu that he will prioritize to save the citizens and killed the demon with no hesitation.
In fact, the next season is only just 9 chapters in the manga, which is pretty short for a season. It's an amount that could be covered in 3 20-minute anime episodes, but the producers turned it into a season by adding scenes specific to the anime and greatly extending the scenes in the manga. For example, one of the episode covers only 1,5 page in the manga
They didn't turned it into a season because demon slayer has literally no seasons. Everything gets released in arcs one by one. The season counting does neither come from ufotable itself nor crunchyroll, they always use the term arc. But they stretched the arc with the help of Gotouge (the author of the manga) and as far as we know (rumor) they do this because the author didn't had the time to work this arc completly out as she needed to publish it sooner then she wanted and she now wants to correct it (it's well known from an interview that the original author is heavily invovled in production of this anime)
