Disney JUST announced that Splash Mountain is going to be going through a retheme from it's current state to the Princess and the Frog. From what we know so far, the ride is going to remain the same for the next year or so. This means when Disneyland and Disney World reopen to the public you will still be able to ride the original Splash Mountain. An average Disney ride takes between 2-6 years to design and a yearish to build so you most likely will have until 2022 to ride Splash Mountain Also if you have any thoughts on this change, be sure to comment down below, however, please be civil of one another. Ideas may be stupid, but your fellow viewers are not. Cheers!
It's heartbreaking, woke up crying to the news, this ride makes Disneyland for me...but I understand the concept. Princess and the Frog fits well in this attraction. But knowing Disney with how much money and land they have why couldn't they just build it somewhere else rather taking down an iconic Disney attraction. If they are willing to do this...classics like Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain, and Matterhorn will be next to go in the future.
I understand what people are saying on how this ride is based on the Song of the South film that was released on 1946. However, there are people who think this ride has “racism” inscribed on it. This ride has nothing racist, literally nothing. It’s just Bre’r Rabbit looking for his Happy Place. Yes, I do understand the film Song of the South is controversial, but this ride does not mention the racial stereotypes whatsoever. What I noticed is White Liberals just demanding change. I don’t see any minority asking for change about this ride, it’s just White people. Even myself, a minority, a Latino, would love for this ride to stay, but if it changes, oh well.
If I get to ride this again before they kill it. . . I'll probably be in tears at the end :'( I'm all for taking down Confederate flags/statues and anything overtly racist but this is just unnecessary. There is NOTHING offensive about this ride. What's next?
I will miss this ride (or theme of this ride) much more than I want to admit. When I was a kid, my parents bought me a cassette tape of Disneyland music at the end of my first time there. It had Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah on it and I listened to that song so many times before even knowing what Splash Mountain was. It wasn't until years later when I went back again in my teens that I actually rode it and it became my favorite ride. Rest in peace to this amazing experience. You will absolutely live on in our memories.
Emily the Eagles fan I just went 2 days ago to Magic Kingdom, it wasn’t bad but your definitely gonna need fastpasses, since we’re getting closer to easter and summer the parks are getting more packed
one time when i was younger me and my sis rode this ride like 10 times in a row cause literally EVERYONE was at fireworks that night. we didn’t even have to leave our log they just let us stay in it cause there was literally no line. lol good times.
When I was on this ride with my dad we hugged each other and closed our eyes at the big drop.. I think he was trying to comfort me, but it was a pretty hilarious picture to look at.

I understand why they would change the ride, but I'm just so sad that I never got to ride original Splash Mountain. Everytime we went we always didn't go on it because either "it's too late at night to get wet" or "it's not hot enough" and this past year before the cough cough we went and I was ready to go on it. So excited. But then we got to it, and it was closed. I was so sad yet thought, "there's always next time." But, there won't be a next time. I'm just so disappointed that I will never get to experience this theme. The characters and scenes. I've watched countless videos, including this one. Such an amazing ride. I actually just bought a vintage wooden board with the poster of Br'er Rabbit, Br'er Fox, and Br'er Bear holding on for dear life as they ride down the falls on it. Even though I never rode it, I will always remember it as "the ride we walked past multiple times without actually riding it." Princess and the Frog will be amazing though, I just know it. Can't wait to definitely ride that. Sorry that was super long, just had to express my feelings haha.
FuzzyDuck FuzzyDuck the ride isn’t being torn down just updated. The first part of the ride is pretty boring and lends itself perfectly to The Princess and the Frog imo.

this brings back so so many memories. Around 7 years ago I remember going on this ride with my family. I remember talking about this old video game i’d play. Song of the South was a very controversial Disney movie wasn't it? James Baskett the main actor couldn't even attend the premiere because of the racial segregation. Yea its a very impressive ride, the dark rooms are quite rich and immersive, and the final steamboat room's depth is impressive. All in all hits on all classic Disney levels of a great ride, fun drop, fun theme, pretty landscape, water ride, catchy song, varied backdrops. Even the final 'happy' room amd last minute is a nice comfortable recovery leg for the smaller kids that were a little scared by the drop. Disneyland nailed it on this one.

Yeah for sure. The final drop actually doesn't even cause a 'splash' at the bottom. The only reason you get wet is because of the water canons aimed towards the hill right before you enter the tunnel.
who want lasagna don’t sweat it. “Grades” are an artificial standard of performance, used by burnt out dead inside bureaucrat-babysitters, in a broken down, outdated, inefficient, and often dangerous education system that does nothing to adequately prepare young minds for the real world. Real learning is unstructured and Socratic, NOT “standardized text”.
It's really a shame that this ride is going away. It's also a shame that people are so dang sensitive nowadays. I had always thought the lack of a Princess and the Frog ride in the Disney parks was weird, and I had wanted one for quite some time. But not like this. I think they should have tried to make a brand new ride instead of retheming Splash, because this just feels like an afterthought. And they're getting rid (kind of) of one of the more iconic rides in the park. It's a silly decision if you ask me.
@@laurie4275 The soundtrack on the Disney World version uses the same songs but they're played in a bluegrass style (featuring banjos and harmonicas) to tie into Frontierland 😊
This ride gives me so much joy! This is by far my favorite ride at the Disney Parks! I love the music, the characters, the drop, the whole ride is amazing! I went on this ride 20 times in a row with my dad when I first visited Disneyland when I was 5. I'm saddened to hear Splash Mountain is being re-thememed, but I'm BEYOND Excited for the Princess and The Frog re-theme! Tiana is my favorite Disney Princess and I'm so glad she's finally getting her own attraction! I hope Disney parks will re theme the Hungry Bear diner to Tianas Restaurant. Maybe they should also add a beignet cart outside of the ride! I'm glad that Splash Mountain will still be an attraction at Tokyo Disney. I might have to take a trip there when the pandemic comes to a closing. Hopefully soon
the thing that's gonna weird is that will splash mountain be in critter country anymore? because its gonna look stupid when its in critter country because 1. Its a disney princess ride 2. it won't match the theme to critter country 3. everyone be excited but then be sad after its gone
@@silocus8709 @NemoGotYeeted I'm not sure if they'll keep this little section of the park called Critter Country. They might change it but probably not because half of the Princess And The Frog movie consists of Tiana and Prince Naveen as Frogs. Plus a lot of the characters in the movie are anthropomorphic critters. I'm really hoping Disney goes all out with this re-theme. If it flops, I feel like people are going to want Splash Mountain back. Kind of like the whole Figment ride situation. I'm really hoping it doesn't though. I feel like with the new attractions that the Disney Parks have been recently putting out, they've been pretty big downers. Especially with the Star Wars Land attractions
Fun fact: Content on original ride *originated with African Americans* (actual African American folktales heard and [two decades *after* the Civil War] set down in print by chronicler Joel Chandler Harris). The controversial Disney film, whose (relatively less controversial) animated segments drew from those folktales, inspired the ride. The content on the new Princess and the Frog ride will have less to do with actual African Americans and authentic African American history.
I only went on splash mountain a couple of times as a little kid and it gave me nightmares because I was really scared of roller coasters. Looking at it now doesn't look very bad of course. I hope to ride it again before it changes. I don't live in California anymore sadly.
My family and I went to Disneyland in October, and the weather was pretty nice so we decided to ride Splash Mountain at 10 PM, it felt so nice! The weather was just perfect, and since it was only my dad and I on the ride we didn’t get very wet. I love this ride now, but hated it as a little kid.
Christopher Cervantes Mhm, i went october 30th last month and all i was doing was stressing about the drop and couldn’t even focus on the ride. The drop wasn’t even bad. I regret it so much i hardly even remember the ride.

who want lasagna don’t sweat it.
I’m going to Disney in November so I’m exited! I watch ur videos to know what rides to go on, thank you
Epic_Gacha33
not sure if you went already but have fun if you haven’t!
Who else is just sitting here watching this and wishing they could go back to Disneyland?
It's really a shame that this ride is going away. It's also a shame that people are so dang sensitive nowadays. I had always thought the lack of a Princess and the Frog ride in the Disney parks was weird, and I had wanted one for quite some time. But not like this. I think they should have tried to make a brand new ride instead of retheming Splash, because this just feels like an afterthought. And they're getting rid (kind of) of one of the more iconic rides in the park. It's a silly decision if you ask me.
I grew up going on the one in Disney World and I had no idea that the style of the soundtrack differed from park to park!
If its the songs from Song of the South, how is it different?
@@laurie4275 The soundtrack on the Disney World version uses the same songs but they're played in a bluegrass style (featuring banjos and harmonicas) to tie into Frontierland 😊
@@bibbleshanks Oooooooh. Ok then.
I loved this ride
I 100% agree
the thing that's gonna weird is that will splash mountain be in critter country anymore? because its gonna look stupid when its in critter country because
1. Its a disney princess ride
2. it won't match the theme to critter country
3. everyone be excited but then be sad after its gone
Splash Mountain is at its best on a hot summer night when all those lanterns are magical...
I went on this ride and it was awesome
Anyone else here just to relive the nostalgia? Gosh I miss it and I hope I can go back someday
No one:

I got an ad right as it crested the top of the hill and all I could think was, HI welcome to viewer mail!
Same
I’m so excited tomarrow I’m going
5:33 some of the bee hives aren’t working.
How to fix
i saw 2 not working
Fun fact: Content on original ride *originated with African Americans* (actual African American folktales heard and [two decades *after* the Civil War] set down in print by chronicler Joel Chandler Harris). The controversial Disney film, whose (relatively less controversial) animated segments drew from those folktales, inspired the ride. The content on the new Princess and the Frog ride will have less to do with actual African Americans and authentic African American history.
I don't know who needed to here this but changing an innocent Disneyland ride into a different theme isn't going to fix racism-
Lunar sign the Save splash Mountain petition on change. Org it has over 82,000 supporters! Thanks
@@Horseskw did it!
I only went on splash mountain a couple of times as a little kid and it gave me nightmares because I was really scared of roller coasters. Looking at it now doesn't look very bad of course. I hope to ride it again before it changes. I don't live in California anymore sadly.
Who is here after the news

Fuck Disney
Everyone
Fuck BLM
President Obama your playing right?
My family and I went to Disneyland in October, and the weather was pretty nice so we decided to ride Splash Mountain at 10 PM, it felt so nice! The weather was just perfect, and since it was only my dad and I on the ride we didn’t get very wet. I love this ride now, but hated it as a little kid.
Kind of hard to enjoy the show when you know what’s coming at the end, isn’t it?
Christopher Cervantes
Mhm, i went october 30th last month and all i was doing was stressing about the drop and couldn’t even focus on the ride. The drop wasn’t even bad. I regret it so much i hardly even remember the ride.
I thought the first drop was THE drop so I was so shocked when that last one came around it was awesome going in with no knowledge
Macie matz how did you think that was the drop 😭😭
Top number 1 ride at both Disneyland/world
Me: At least I will be able to go on the classic Disneyland ride Splash Mountain!
Disney: We are completely redoing splash because its "controversial"
Also Me: :((((((((
That also makes me really sad
😢
🏺 I’m collecting tears
mAya SquAw ?
my trip to disney got canceled cause coronavirus, so im staying sane by these
Lol I was wondering why it was so different compared to the one I’ve been on, because the one I went on was the Disney world one 😂😂
My favorite ride!
I was there Nov 26 and got back today the first. Was this recorded in that time? If so, I might have seen you!
Definitely like the music on this one more than the Disney world one
When I went this ride was closed down. I was sad though it looked nice.
I never saw the pumpkins on the ride so thanks for showing me them 👍🏽 also I just was looking for the huge drop it took me forever- LOL
I can't believe they are changing a classic just because a few snowflakes decided to say it is racist. What a sad end to a great era and alot of childhood memories.
There's NO WAY I could go on this alone. I LOVE Splash Mountain but I couldn't go alone. Animatronics mixed with water freak me out but if I'm not alone I love them.
My favorite ride! Thx Kris
That was fun thank you for sharing that.
