Love claire Richards she is just amazing and she has a super voice and Karen carpenter would have been so proud of her singing so well. I closed my eyes for a few minutes and I thought it was Karen singing. Claire has so much talent its so hard not to love her ❤❤
Claire did a fantastic version of Karen Carpenter in my opinion just like she was in Steps and she was and is my favourite member of Steps and I really hope that she is Knitting on the masked singer as all of the clues are linked to her and the voice definitely sounds like her as well
Claire does have that fullness (sort of a Rich darkness) in the lower alto register that Karen had that is so rare and is/was so special. Probably more so than anybody else I have heard that has covered a Carpenter's song.
I love this from The Carpenters song, Karen Carpenter had such amazing voice, so did claire richards in Steps well done claire beautiful done well sung ❤🎶
Wow .. This explains why when I listen to her rendition of "Goodbye to Love" it makes me think of the late Karen Carpenter. If I closed my eyes you couldn't tell the difference.
Karen had a lower tonal quality to her voice, she was who I tried to emulate, but Claire IS very good, she reminds me of Sandi Pattie(world renowned gospel singer). Well Claire can sing anything good, there's that
Probably been the first time she'd sang live in her career at this point. Steps were forced to mime everything. I saw Claire do her solo album launch a few years ago, and she was 10 times better live.
I recently watched a documentary on PBS about The Carpenters. They’re not really the kind of band that I’d listen to while riding to work or while walking or running outside. So it’s safe for me to say that I’m not a big, mad fan of their style of music. I do enjoy a few songs of theirs from time to time though. They are the kind of band that I have to be in the mood to listen to. But they certainly made a huge mark on the music industry though because of Karen Carpenter’s voice. They had a very unique sound that only belonged to them. A Carpenter song can come up on the radio and you’d be able to immediately recognize that it’s them. They were kind of that band that brought people down into a state of calmness and tranquility in a decade that was dominated by a lot of the upper beat sounds of soul, disco, and funk.
Sorry but this girl is struggling through the whole verses. She lacks the lower register that Karen had. I'm surprised so many people are raving about this performance. Brave though.
Not KC, of course. I've been listening to the Carpenters since 1971, so I wasn't a fan of how she sang this, as it's one of my favorite Carpenters songs. Too many people try to copy the way Karen hit the notes perfectly, as well as her tone and other nuances too much, and they always fail of course. Karen was the greatest female artist in recorded music history. It's basically impossible to match her. But this woman has a pretty voice, though I feel she'd be more suited for doing Carpenters songs at weddings.
You're right, many try and copy her too much, I can sing a little like her, but I am never as good, and I know it!! Her voice is near-impossible to recreate.
@@scottiramage317 I have no need to Google her. She may be a recording artist in her own right, as you say, but no female singer can match Karen Carpenter's voice. Period.
All over the place and that's with autotune! shows the difference between someone with talent and someone who is a mediocre. This is just Richards singing (poorly) a classic carpenters song, sounds nothing like KC, pure Karaoke.
Karen Carpenter died as a direct result from an eating disorder, bought on by idiots like you telling her she was too fat. Nice to see the cycle never ends. Moron
OMG....OMG....Just So Lovely!!!! Thank you for the Good Memories!!!!
2019 and still in AWE! That voice!
I totally love Claire Richards she is Absolutely Gorgeous & has such an Amazing Voice & she really does sound like Karen Carpenter
Wow. Claire!!!! I’m wrecked girrrrl!!! I knew you were fabulous but I’m blown away!!!! Excellent!
One of my favourite Carpenter songs and sung beautifully by lovely Claire.
Love claire Richards she is just amazing and she has a super voice and Karen carpenter would have been so proud of her singing so well. I closed my eyes for a few minutes and I thought it was Karen singing. Claire has so much talent its so hard not to love her ❤❤
Gr8 singing , so close it made me cry. I would buy this.
Had the biggest crush on her for years .. and what a voice
2021 and I still love this vocal, what a voice ♥️
miss Karen's voice... still cherished to this day
Claire did a fantastic version of Karen Carpenter in my opinion just like she was in Steps and she was and is my favourite member of Steps and I really hope that she is Knitting on the masked singer as all of the clues are linked to her and the voice definitely sounds like her as well
But Claire was by far and the best singer in steps..I love her
Claire does have that fullness (sort of a Rich darkness) in the lower alto register that Karen had that is so rare and is/was so special. Probably more so than anybody else I have heard that has covered a Carpenter's song.
FANTASTIC hope she won that episode!!!
Claire is brilliant live vocals
Outstanding vocals
I’m STILL obsessed with Claire’s new, hmmm, not so new album. Her vocals are incredible. ❤️
I love this from The Carpenters song, Karen Carpenter had such amazing voice, so did claire richards in Steps well done claire beautiful done well sung ❤🎶
Wow!! She should play her in a movie she sounds just like her
I would pay good money to watch Steps perform as Cher
2020 - Ouch thought I was listening to Karen Carpenter. Richard is am sure would have a flashback here. WOW.
Wow .. This explains why when I listen to her rendition of "Goodbye to Love" it makes me think of the late Karen Carpenter. If I closed my eyes you couldn't tell the difference.
you are kidding right? Get the wax cleaned up....This woman seems great but karen was in a different stratosphere.
Claire can sing but this makes you realize just how good Karen was.
oh the shade of it all!!!!!
Wow just wow she mailed that song great vocals
Claire being shy is so cute. As if she didn't know she's known worldwide with Steps.
What a nice person! Very most and appealing - and obviously has huge talent!
Wow! I'm surprised because I never thought anyone would be able to replicate Karen. Well done
Stunning vocal 💚
Claire nailed Karen's low tone. Claire's amazing vocals still stands out though. I love Claire. I love Steps!
I love Steps! I love Claire
Fabulous singer
Great voice Claire!
Fantastic job Clair your awesome alone on stage singing
If you didn't know you'd believe it's Karen Carpenter.
Never knew she's done this.
Wow !!
Oo how lovely is she...😍😍
2023 and just checking this out !
What the heck. Its Karen Carpenter resurrection!
I am her big fan!...
I grew a fond of H being always hyperactive & energetic that it's so unusual to see him being behaved & silent.😁😁😁
Sounds like her. Brilliant
Look!
Awesome job, Claire!!!
Amazing 🤩
Genuinely really good job
Karen had a lower tonal quality to her voice, she was who I tried to emulate, but Claire IS very good, she reminds me of Sandi Pattie(world renowned gospel singer). Well Claire can sing anything good, there's that
So I interesting to see this old stuff
Very good!
Brilliant version
You would think it was karen carpenter
Amazing 👌
This is flat out ridiculous talent !!!
Only when she mentioned the nose wrinkle did I realize that she does that when she sings!
Aired October 6th 2001
OMFG! 😱
Claire is good
I remember watching an episode of this... a Teacher won it as she impersonated Dusty Springfeild singing Son Of A Preacher...
Nailed it
Probably been the first time she'd sang live in her career at this point. Steps were forced to mime everything.
I saw Claire do her solo album launch a few years ago, and she was 10 times better live.
Nervous? No need, just fantastic.
Claire’s voice is amazing.
Is H seatmate is one of the dancers in their MV of it’s the way that you make me feel?.
Love the accent
Sounds like her most of the time
Cracking effort
What year was this?
Is this show the forerunner of Your Face Sounds Familiar?
She’s good!
"Your face sounds familiar" a show transforming celebrities into different artists whom tgey will impersonate
"Your Face Sounds Familiar' is the European rip-off of 'Stars in Their Eyes' that was going on for decades before it.
june 2021

What made them unique was , like Captain and Tenille, they sang all the parts themselves instead of using background vocalists.
I didn't think she could be karen but she was amazing .
Is Claire Richards a Contralto like Toni Lee?
So so, Karen is unique.
What's the name of the song? X
Superstar
Claire es igual que Karen Carpenter.... ( de tamaño)
Holy crap!!!! Turn away and you'd never know it was not Karen. Wow!!!!! 😍
Sounds just like her
So close but voice not deep enough. Bloody good though.
I actually can sing like Karen. I need to go on karaoke. It's a tense thing because she is such a legend. One day.
Toni Lee is the Best
Bournvita,
thats actually not a bad Carpenter she would have done a better Cher though
Sorry but this girl is struggling through the whole verses. She lacks the lower register that Karen had. I'm surprised so many people are raving about this performance. Brave though.

I suggest you google Claire Richards - she’s a recording artist in her own right

Rob Adams Jesus, it’s a television show!! Not reality
It’s stars in their eyes you absolute melt. They’re meant to try and copy the vocals of the artist.
She looks like Holly Willoughby.
No she doesn't! 🙈
Good till she got to the chorus , not great but good
Nice singer but sound’s nothing like Karen
Nice performance but she’s no Karen Carpenter!
Nice singer but sounds nothing like Karen carpenter!

She is to chunky to be Karen Carpenter but still amazing voice x
Karen Carpenter died as a direct result from an eating disorder, bought on by idiots like you telling her she was too fat. Nice to see the cycle never ends. Moron
Is that really necessary, particularly considering Karen died of heart failure brought on by her long struggle with anorexia?
Which year was this?
