  • In today's episode, we get deeper into metalworking, both casting and forging! Our goal: a suit of armor perfect for exploring the shallower depths of the world in a future episode! We also look at some new tools and how to use them, including the scythe and shears! We burn through LOTS of copper today, and we'll have to secure a steady supply of it to fill our smithy!

    Hey Kurazarrh, I started watching your most recent guide 2 videos a few weeks ago. Decided to go back to the start to watch you build that epic compound you call a base.
    One question, I may have missed it, but can you put signs on double chests?
    Love the game, love the videos!
    Ps, my wife wants to know how you got a cat mask!

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  7 месяцев назад

      Awesome! I hope you're finding the early videos helpful and/or entertaining!
      As for signs on double chests (aka trunks), you can't combine them in the crafting grid like with the regular chests, but you can attach a sign to the side (but the sign takes up block space since it's not part of the trunk model).
      I got the cat mask in the Resonance Archive! (Shortly before episode 50). There are a few masks and things you can get there, though from what I've seen of other players, it looks like it's randomized, so you're not guaranteed a cat mask (but the marketeer's mask is a pretty good one, too).

    • @Kurazarrh

      They might work best as like, the edge of the shelf, since the beam blocks themselves are only about 1/4 or 1/5 of a block wide. We're not super flush with wood at the moment, so work with beams is probably going to have to wait for a bit!

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  Месяц назад +1

      I do remember, actually! ;) There is a way to acquire glass before having a bloomery (and even before obtaining a pickaxe!). The quartz you can find sitting on the ground, when you pick it up, has something like a 25% chance of being "clear quartz". Combine 2 clear quartz in the crafting grid with sticks arranged above, below, and on either side of it to get a "clear quartz glass block." It's a bit foggy, but it works well for basic windows!

    This may seem random but, why do lamellae molds look lie waffles?

    • @k3kr

      Lamellar armor is basically a bunch of plates stacked on top of each other
      With leather/clothing as padding underneath

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  Год назад +4

      You might need to ask Tyron that! I'm going to suspect that, while lamellae did come in various different shapes and sizes, representing them in a regular, tessellated shape in the game's style was easiest to represent clearly this way.
      Either that, or we need to change the name of the armor to waffle armor!

    what are your thoughts about fan art? Specifically, like take vintage story or Stardew valley, they are in away a type of fan art, inspired, but different in their own right. When it comes to games there are so many examples, that includes songs, and movies, comics (Hyperion vrs Superman). The definition of art I use is very broad.

    Combat is definitely the weakest part of VS. The bow is weirdly enough also way faster to attack with than most of the melee weapons, but imo all weapons deal way too little damage, relative to the health and density of enemies, which just invites people to cheese things. Also, I feel arrowheads should be salvageable from broken arrows too, since it's most likely that the shaft would break, not the actual tip - at least for metal ones.

    • @Kurazarrh
      @Kurazarrh  8 месяцев назад

      100% agreed. Especially since there's basically no knockback mechanic or anything, it's just irritating when it takes 10+ hits to kill a nightmare drifter while you're being swarmed by enemies who also take 6+ hits to kill.
      Part of me supposes that it might be Tyron's way of trying to indicate that "you're supposed to run, not fight," but then why do the tougher enemies have more rewards? And why do we encounter them in the places we need to go to regularly (deep underground) to get basic crafting materials?

    • @Dark__Thoughts
      @Dark__Thoughts 8 месяцев назад +1

      @@Kurazarrh I don't mind some difficulty but spongy enemies isn't really the way to do that. It just makes things frustrating and I also don't feel too good about my gear when even steel weapons take ages to kill even basic enemies.
      And yeah. If things are too annoyingly difficult then people simply won't go and explore, especially into caves or dungeons (especially if you use certain mods), or end up cheesing things to the point where it becomes even easier than just balancing the difficulty towards more of a fun gameplay aspect.
      I heard they want to improve the combat though so hopefully there's something good coming in the future.
