Some quick advice I'd like to give you if you ever explore anything like this again: First off, if the place you're exploring seems long/confusing or has lots of turns, I highly suggest you carry some paper and a writing utensil so you can draw out your path as you go along so you won't get lost. Secondly, be very cautious and weary of collapses and be careful to not initiate any collapses, so try to keep vibrations to a minimum. If you see water leaking from the ceiling be extra careful since I believe the water might be adding excess weight to the rock making it more likely to collapse. I'm not a professional by any means but these are some things worth considering
I don't disagree with anything here, you're right. Some things just dont' apply here, which you can't know. The overview over the turns and ways there were was way better when you were there opposing to the video, and people were walking there a lot more regularly as in the video. It's used as a path through for hikers, as i got to know afterwards. Thanks!
Mike Hunt I was thinking the same thing. Needs to have rocks and dirt shoveled and swept out, doors greased up and well provisioned. Could stay there safely for a few years if properly set up. By the way Mike, say hello to Hugh Jass for me would you?
I have visited Switzerland several times. My hosts told me of many odd things that are done for defensive reasons. This tunnel system is just one of them. It is a beautiful country.
The Swiss have a pretty unbeatable plan and that's run to the mountains and fight guerilla warfare until the enemy gives up worked well on Vietnam and Afghanistan lol.
It’s insane that the mountain is SO Steep, with no roads, in the middle of nowhere, with a large entrance on one side and a doorway on the other, yet we all know at one time there must have been hundreds of people there to first blast it out, clear the rock, lay the concrete rooms, install the metal doors, install wiring, and then get 1/2 way done and told to leave. I’m dying for the whole story on this place
This is all i've got so far: 1822 General Henri Dufour visited that cave to write about it. Its called the "Schafloch", sheep hole in english. We have sheep up there. Then before the second world war the swiss army built this bunker into it. Reinforcements in the form of concrete walls, iron doors and shooting holes. It wasnt used, and is currently open to hikers at own risk. Its at a 1780 meters over the sea. It was usable as a bunker, they probably only supported the parts that weren't stable back then with concrete, and the door frames ofc.
I'm from the UK ...stoned ....and this is just exceptional ... the scenery , the tunnels , would be fascinating to see the actual map or layout in relation to the mountain !!!! Fantastic

After knowing where it leads and a short bit of googling i knew that it is nowadays used as a 'on your own risk' passthrough for hikers who dont want to go all the way to the top.
I know where that is because I live there in the region. It's an abandoned defence system, but today it's really more of a tunnel for brave hikers to get from one side of the mountain to the other. The place is very remote and it is quite challenging to get there. That's why there's no graffiti or masses of rubbish. But I think there is a geocache hidden somewhere.
