To have, to hold, to live for just a moment... in ecstasy, and then to be, forgotten. To laugh, at life,, and learn to sing a love song... a melody, that's soon to be, forgotten. When love has ended, to cry, but when... Your heart is mended, to love again A night of bliss, but when the dawn is breaking... A memory, that's soon to be forgotten
I dont think rating these is fair. The later music isn’t supposed to sound good, it’s supposed to signify your brain literally decaying from this illness. All this later music does is send chills down my spine, especially the last song, starting with dark sounds and quiet before beginning to erupt in song, signifying that this is the end. All the memories you do remember flashing before you. It’s a beautiful work of art, every single song is.
I sat through the entire album, which was 6 AND A HALF FUCKING HOURS! Even though this is supposed to be about dementia, this was an unforgettable experience for me.
i wouldnt say that, but i would say the craft and story that is portrayed is a 10/10, its the colelction of things, not singular itmes. this video was about meaningless songs, not about the albumb sadly
Sudden time is a warped and corrupted version of Its just a burning memory. It’s supposed to make you feel like you have dementia and say “Have I heard this before? Or did I hear it before The Caretaker?”.
It actually samples dozens of songs from the early-mid 20th century and distorts them, though "Heartaches" (the song used in it's just a burning memory " is probably used in it
The two tracks on the video don’t use It’s just a burning memory. The sample in the Stage 4 segment samples Libet’s delay, and the Stage 5 segment samples We cannot escape the past (I think?)
The songs themselves are pretty good but the meaning, story, and horror of the context also adds up to them. I spent a whole day listening to the soundtracks, and they really tell a story
Have you listened to the complementary albums, like An empty Bliss Beyond this World? They are described where they fit withing the caretaker's main project in Leyland Kirby TV Tropes article
4, 5, and 6 are absolutely brutal. About halfway through stage 4 you can hear Heartaches by al bowlly (it’s just a burning memory) for the last time a few seconds before the hell sirens begin. It’s extremely sad
@@PikaTzye entire piece begins with music that sounds a tiny bit crackly and distorted at the beginning but still nice. As it goes on through the stages, it slowly begins to decay more and more until it's not even music anymore and just sound. This is supposed to correlate to what the human mind goes through within the stages of dementia: it decays and deteriorates to the point that the person suffering from it no longer even remembers how to look after themselves.
How you gonna call chapter 6 "ok". That's simply disrespectful to the meaning the Caretaker was trying to tell in writing this record. Its not meant to sound nice, it's meant to describe the painful confusion that overcomes those in their latest stage of dementia. The final part of chapter 6, is not only the defining part of the record, but also one of the most heart-wrenching pieces of music ever to be written.
You know that feeling that this gives you? This is what your loved ones are going through as they struggle with this. Please as someone who’s been a carer since they were 20 years old and after 6 years is done. Partially due to seeing them wither away from dementia and Alzheimers, please, please love them and hold them close, don’t let those fleeting crumbling memories be all that’s left .
I showed the album to my friend whose grandmother had recently passed away from dementia. He claimed: “Stage 5 reminds me of my grandmother’s last cry for wanting to remember.”
I listen to this album just because my grandfather died due to dementia. I miss him so much and everytime I listen to this I remember him and start to cry
That's because it's terribly overused, just like nearly the entirety of stage 1. To me, I find it boring from the amount of times I heard it be used incorrectly.
The entirety of the album is songs progressively getting more distorted As they are older songs, the last memories you lose are the old ones That's why a person with alzheimer's can't remember their grandchild's name, but the music they listened to growing up. But even that, so far back, will be lost, alzheimer's is by far the saddest disease to whom who have to watch a person suffer in confusion and dismemory And the final 5 minutes being calm, and peaceful, and beautiful, just really shows you how peaceful the release of one's disease is. They'll finally rest, they'll finally be free, they'll finally have eternal peace.
It is surprising that the Caretaker touched on such a topic as the delay of Benjamin Libet in his album. One of the samples of stage 3 is called 'Libet Delay'. This sample takes us into a world where a person breaks away from reality. Let me explain that Benjamin Libet’s Delay is an experiment conducted in 1983 by Benjamin Libet himself, in which it is shown that approximately one second, or to be more precise, 200 milliseconds, passes between the initiating nervous activity in the motor centers of the brain and the actual movement of the hand. According to the theory of scientists, in patients with dementia with the progress of the disease in later stages, this delay increases by more than 200 milliseconds, so the patient sees the world with some delay, which blows up the brain once again 😦 The caretaker is brilliant, which I prove once again. ❤️❤️
how tf is libet delay calming 💀; anyway i'd say everywhere at the end of time should be rated as a whole and not individualy since it's how it's supposed to be appriciated and after listening to it all, 10/10 the feelings and experience he wanted to create is absolutely perfectly done, it's a one in a life time experience, i would reccomend anyone to prepare yourself the time to appriciate it, you really see the world differently once you've listened to it once
Honestly the meaning that was giving to it is the scary part, if I had listen to it just like that it would just be sounds. But the meaning gives and completely different perspective and the end makes everything more sad and scary, now one of the things im mose scare of is dementia.
All of them are pretty much a 10/10 for what their meaning/message is. But from an completely auditory perspective most of don‘t sound pleasing.(I know that that‘s the point)

Libet delay is a direct reference to an old project of Leyland Kirby : an empty bliss beyond this world

Correction: The track that plays in the Stage 4 section is H1 Post Awareness confusions. Sudden Time Regression Into Isolation is a Stage 5 track.
libet delay calming??? that was the point where i had to turn it off because the sleep paralysis demons were coming for me in my waking hours
As someone who's Dad has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease... this album makes me cry.

I'm sorry for your loss...
Ever since I got into the topic of dementia, these songs fucking terrify me whenever I hear it
Ambient music is just goated
POV: you come home in the middle of the night and there is no one home
Stage 5 sounds like a horror game soundtrack
You don't know how much I love this album
I feel like the very end is emotional. Like, it feels like a whole other stage. You should rate that one.
my 10/10's are misplaced in time and that state of bliss in stage 5 whit the "was it a dream" song.
I'm afraid I'll wake and find... it was only in my mind... was it a dream?
M1 synapse retrogenesis 10/10
its just a burning memory. sounds good
I took the time to listen all the six and half hours and all can i say this is a masterpiece, true art and really sad true about dementia.
*it’s just a burning memory, it’s just a burning memory, it’s just a burning memory, it’s just a burning memory, it’s just a burning memory*
"It's just a burning memory" is so good and iconic that when we see the cover of STAGE 1 It is the first song we remember
Let’s be honest. D2 literally sounds like the album cover in audio formation.
Apart from It's Just a Burning Memory, the next best one is probably Drifting time misplaced. It's so... mischievous.
Its just a burning memory is a 100/10

The caretaker's music album is straight s tier
I'm not sleeping anymore, these put an undiscovered fear inside of me that haunt my heart and fill my mind with mold
Its just a burning memory and quiet dusk coming are the best songs.❤ they're like old times and chicken soup by your grandma.😢😢😢😢
Guys you need to listen to A6: things that are beautiful and transient, the first 39 seconds are amazing 😢
Burning memory is literally the first melody that you think of when you hear about backrooms
That's because it's too overused, and dementia doesn't fit in with liminal spaces.
Libet's delay reminds me about terror hotel
Burning memory for me is 10/10 because this song makes millions reflect on life through it, and sometimes cry too.
Burning memory made me think of the backroom
