A well tuned PA gives you a better mix, and the easiest way to tune the PA well is to use data. even if you don’t have a digital mixer or an expensive mic, you can still use data to get a balanced PA and amazing sound. Now nothing in life is free but in this video I’ll show you how to measure and EQ your PA system using an analogue mixer, a cheap microphone, and a little bit of outboard equipment. Practice makes perfect and the sooner you start taking measurements, the sooner you’ll get better at system tuning.

My pleasure!
Very helpful, thank you!
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Simply awesome.
Thanks so much!
Does this work to equalize in-ceiling speakers?
Thanks, that was very helpful.
Hello, if I do an acoustic measurement but don't have an analog EQ behind the mixer, is it possible to apply it digitally on the computer? I mean, I want to have this EQ only for the music coming from my computer, so is there a program on the computer where I can set the desired EQ and have the audio come out of the computer already equalized before going to the mixer?
Thankyou sir
You're very welcome
so im going to attempt to digitally eq a live mix this weekend through ableton live. any tips?? kinda sending it blind but this was super good info to have since i have the sonarworks mic still.
If you're going to EQ the mains then watch this: ruclips.net/video/ALjEBJXHGQw/видео.html
Keep an eye on latency.
Hello, I noticed you used the trace within open sound meter. Do you recommend this trace or the Lawrence trace?
It's personal preference really. I recommend just starting with the Lawrence one (he really knows his stuff) and then seeing how you feel about it. Eventually you'll have an idea how you want to do it yourself.
Hey! Are you using a crossover when connecting your graphic eq to yours speakers? I ask because ive been on google searching like crazy for the proper equipment to use and I havent found any answers yet
Not in this example. As a really simple answer you only need a crossover when you're using subs with your tops. Check out this video for a little more about PA setup:ruclips.net/video/L4zXuPqDqU4/видео.html
@OffshoreAudio Thank you!!
@@DERRICKLILLYMUSIC No worries, I'm working on a course where I go in depth on this stuff so make sure you're on my mailing list if you'd be interested in that
ive downloaded this program and i have the same focusrite interface as shown. not sure why but i can get reading on ALL BUT magnitude and Phase. i have coherent turned off, even tried winding it right down. plenty of level in and out of the unit but cannot see any graphs on MAG and PHASE pages. i have interface exactly like this video with MIC L and LOOP set with Focusrite USB selected as devices in and out. am i missing anything here ? or has someone had same problem and found the fix or stuff up that i may have made ?
Hey, I'm afraid I'm not sure. sounds like you've found the coherence control, but just to be certain, you're clicking on the mag graph and turning coherence off there right? Is your delay time set? though that shouldn't matter if coherence is off.
Have you set how your Loop works in the control app? I just had to do this recently for a FOH build I did last week. I don’t remember what it was specifically, but I had to adjust setting in the Focusrite Control app.
@@thejonathanhatch havent found anything specific in the focusrite app as yet, i'll try with a lead from output 2 to input 2 as googling some say the LOOP function was unreliable in the OSM program. will see how that all goes
