    Great video. I really want to look at a CampBoss 270 awning but the boot lifts so high!!

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  Год назад

      There is a brand that makes a 270 awning without a brace over the boot.

    Just out of curiosity if I may, what rim/tyre combination are you using and what year/variant MUX? BTW, I like the roof rack setup, will consider myself.

    Hey Doug, did the holes on the awning bracakets line up with the bolts on that back of your ARB awning? And is the track on the back of the awning standard width?

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  6 месяцев назад +1

      The awning mounts are on a slide, so they can be positioned anywhere.
      The track is a standard width.

    Hi what is the finished height from the roof of the car to the top of platform looks like it sits nice and low

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  3 месяца назад

      I think it was around 100-120mm.
      We have sold the car so I can't measure it sorry.

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  3 месяца назад +1

      Total height with lift & bigger tyres was 2050mm so fit into most car parks

    Hi Doug. Did you get excessive roof vibrations at the sunglasses holder area at high speed before you install your custom wind faring? Is the wind deflector came with the Yakima platform tray causing the vibration?

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  7 месяцев назад

      The vibration was ridiculous at any speed above 70. The plastic fairing that extended from the front made it better but still rattled.
      After we had the custom one made, we never heard it again.
      From what I understand most of our turbulence came from the bull bar.
      I haven't heard anyone with a similar vibration that have the stock bumper.

      @@AussieDoug I don't really have much issue with wind noise itself , but can't stand the vibration it causes to the roof at the sunglasses consoles. I moved the rack 1" back towards the tailgate and it seem to have made a tiny bit better but vibration still there after exceed 80km/h. I stuck a piece paper up there to stop the rattle noise but I will want do something to make the vibration go away. Did your custom faring required drilling?

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  7 месяцев назад

      I bolted it to the Yakima platform only. There is a 20mm spacing to the roof

      @@AussieDoug I intend on installing a recessed light bar in the near future so no point installing a fairing like your now only to take it off later. Might try wrap.some bunji cords over it to see if it will make it better.

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  7 месяцев назад

      The light bar should do a similar job.

    Hey Doug. After you remove the roof rail covers and expose the ditch, is there a ditch fill rubber in there? Did you had to remove that?

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  8 месяцев назад

      No rubber, just the metal roof with the bolt holes. It comes off quite easy.
      What rack are you looking at putting on?

      I think I might go with Yakima like your seeing the slates are East-West. Perhaps this way is easier to mount other compatible brackets or accessories in order to carry other things.. you think?@@AussieDoug

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  8 месяцев назад

      The East West platform was the reason I chose it.
      Most others have less slats / cross beams & they don't look as strong

    Hey Doug great idea re wind deflector, what thickness you use for the aluminium sheet and where did you get it

    • @AussieDoug
      @AussieDoug  Год назад +1

      Our local sheet metal fabrication shop. It is out of 3mm aluminium. I didn't want that sucker to flex & touch the roof.
