EDIT: FYI some of the replies to my comment explain what she meant really well, so what I initially wrote doesn't reflect what I think anymore. Let's not have pointless arguments over misunderstandings ^^
@hind She initially said that brown skin is just a muted version of orange which implies warm undertones, and then goes on to say she has cooler undertones. I believe that's what the mix-up is about 🙂 I'm brown, but I have very green/greyish undertones and have cool toned skin, not much orange in my skin... But I believed for a while that I have warm undertones by default as a brown person only to look terrible in warm toned makeup and clothes.
I love her, but I agree that this can be confusing for those who don't know better and are cool-toned olives like myself.
Edit: thanks for explaining what she meant, it makes sense now that brown is just a darker orange and that it doesn't necessarily imply warmth or coolness

Cool toned grayish purple lipsticks that are ashy on me and I look dead. What I found nice though is orange blush. I never thought I'd wear such a color since on the lips or body, it tends to be so neon but as a blush, since it's blended, it emphasizes my cheek. Soo pretty!

Play around with the shades of eyeshadow and lip colors, and maybe try using complementary tones to even out the shades.🤔 For example, if you use a cool toned blush, try a slightly warm lip instead of using all cool toned shades for the look? I find that it helps to balance out my complexion.😌
Im a light medium tone and olive undertone gal, and I definitely go for the warmer tones, they look best on me. I use Orange, peach, coppers, and even bronzer tones for my blush. Bronzer is usually too warm for my tone but makes a great blush for natural/ "no-makeup" makeup looks. If i wear purples, they have to be either neutral, magenta, or very deep warm like wine, Bordeaux, black cherry. Cool toned blue eyeshadow doesn't look good. It makes me look yellowish, so I have to pair cool toned shadows with my warmer peach blush to even out the yellow. That makes a HUGE difference!

@@ophilianecr yeah I think I need to do some experiment with shades and tones. I don't like to use warmer colors as it tends to make my face looks burned (ex: orange and brown doesn't complement my face at all) but color with (too much) gray also makes my face look muddy/dirty. Dusty pink is my color for sure and it helps with blending other colors better. I like doing "sunset makeup" with dusty pink and a bit orange and purple, it's cute and really fun! I guess I can't do a single color and have to mix a bit of colors. Being in the middle is fun and games until you found yourself not belongs to anywhere, it sucks tbh ✋😔

@@MlkMeow olive references a slight "green" undertone that can lean (at least based on what makeup companies consider as such), warm toned or neutral. In actual art color theory, green is cool toned.
You can check by seeing which types of jewelry metals look best on you, swatching multiple different undertones of foundation/concealer on your jawline, and trying on different colored clothes in a neutral lit room with a neutral background. This is called using relative color to see which background colors match your skin's undertone, what colors clash, and what illuminates your skintone.

The skins undertone is IN the surface color… it’s just saying whether it’s warm or cool. It’s like, “I have brown skin” doesn’t say whether it’s a cool, neutral, or warm toned brown. Brown is a color with many varieties, the “undertone” just narrows down the amount of varieties to consider, really.
The initial response to this is a bit silly but if you don’t wear makeup (which the majority of men don’t) it’s not exactly surprising that the whole undertone thing discussed in makeup would be a little confusing. This is absolutely true, I had no idea when I discovered that pinkish blush makes me look tired/older/wrong on my face I tried to explain to other they'd say you're exaggerating it's just a blush. But when I put peachy/ orangy color, I look so healthy and pretty and it looks more natural, Im pale with warm undertone

I just love and adore you. This also goes for drag because the contours are typically five shades darker not one or two. So when you powder you can still see it and when the stage light hits you aren’t Casper. And the purple really makes the contours blend into the highlights and I “mid tone” with a cool toned pink into clown white and put a highlight on the gradient between the white and pink. It’s basically every undertone/depth color theory on one face and it is why I love the art form of drag so much

    Honestly,
Color theory is important for every skin color. No matter your brown, pale or extra dark. I’m light skinned and more neutral or neutral in some pinky way. But gold and another warm colors looks bad on me. But my sis has opposite problems. Pinkish colors looks dull on her. But warm and neutral colors looks really good on her. Thanks to color theory I had at school I know what mistakes not to do.
Im still watching you for educational purposes. And I love your work. ❤️❤️❤️
