so hard to tell from this because each one is different environment and mics and placement and what-not. but, that being said, from the video alone, i think the Fabspeed and the M-Performance are the best sounding. some are just loud, but don't sound amazing.
F1N9ERS so what did you choose in the end? Shit, crap, Super Shit, Super Shit Plus, Super Shit Plus Carbon Edition? They all sound absolutely shit, awful disgraceful sound. Yuck.
I can tell that the Fi exhaust is simply the sweetest sounding of the ones showed here. If you don't like it that brutal just stay with the M Performance exhaust
@@darrenakrigg5978 Sound is actually a super important part of the overall driving experience. Sure the car is fast, but how often in daily driving and commuting will you be on the limit? You might do 20% of the performance of what this car can do in an average daily commute in a city or even a weekend drive. And if you're buying this car for the track you're buying the wrong car. But you will hear that shitty civic exhaust every time you drive the car. Personally, I'd be pissed if I paid as much as these cars cost for BMW to give it an exhaust with this sound. Not even the aftermarket can fix it. It's strange because the N54 exhaust sounds no where near as bad and my N55 is actually pretty good for a turbo car. Once the original owners are done with these, this generation of M3 is going to get modded to hell with cheap gutted exhausts for high horsepower drag racing and highway pulling. It's too bad because aside from the anemic steering feel and god awful exhaust this platform had so much potential. But when you can get something that sounds like a gt350 with better performance for the same or less price, well...it's an easy choice.
Eric M I’ve got the competition M3 which sounds a world apart from the standard and I love the sound of a great engine and exhaust . If I was going to get a car for that reason I’d pick a V10 M5 but they have such systemic problems as a whole it’s not viable . As a driving car I swapped my 2017 RS Focus for my 2016 M3 and your right ....I live in the dales and as a car to through around the RS would destroy the M3 but the sheer torque and speed of the DCT is second to none . I went on a track day at Oulton Park (Bmw day not my own car) and was shocked how good the Handel fit a heavy saloon . It’s the twin turbo that causes the rasp sound that’s why the single turbo cars sound different and it can be sorted with a single pipe 2nd cat delete pipe . Mines not modified at all and will stay that way so it can hold its value .....I had the chance to swap it for a supercharged VXR monaro which sounds amazing but didn’t do it for me
Nate M No car in this world can tick every box Sound ...driving experience....drivability....track drivability.....power ....speed ....comfort ....practically.....insurance.....maintenance.....cost . Eg I loved the V8 F1 cars sound ....totally awesome but I’m 6ft 4” so if I had the chance to drive one I’d have no chance so in that case it’s irrelevant how it sounds cause I can’t experience any other part of it . I had the chance to drive a Lamborghini Aventador on a track day and it sounded the dogs but I couldn’t go out in it cause I couldn’t fit in it so great I can hear from a distance but not whilst sat in it . I love the sound of a Rover SD1 3500 V8 but dint have any interest in driving one , big and slow ....boring , I’ve driven some fast and expensive , exotic stuff and me PERSONALLY I love my M3 .....not saying it’s the best car at all but if I had to swap it tomorrow it would be a long haul around dealers test driving things to compare it too
I wanted to do a S55 muffler swap on my N55 but the m3 sounds raspy... not attractive sound.. Maybe its the twin turbo that makes these i6 around bad... look at the n54 in comparison to the n55. Single turbo around better
It’s the unequal length of the exhaust. Search equal length exhaust f80. Active auto works is the company that pioneered it. It sounds a hell of a lot better with the equal length setup.
You're Right M-Performance Exhaust Could be Pair with Midpipe from Fabspeed Motorsport/Dinan/Supersprint and Catless Downpipes from Evolution Racewerks/Active Autowerke/Gintani/VRSF/SSR With Chargepipes and burble tune from RK-TUNES then reach 125 db

thank you so much for going to the trouble of making this video.. really helped me to decide on what exhaust.. job well done!

Supersprint💪
That ipe sounds good af. Dinam second place
Seriously a massive downgrade in sound from the E92, hell most other BMW straight 6s sound a lot better than this raspy beast!
Drive one ......the sound is irrelevant

It sound so good
Why did all the aftermarket exhausts kill the burble and crackles
Great vid to compare whats available!
Love the car, wish it didn't sound like a 90s Pontiac
Does changing the exhaust void any parts of the warranty?
M performance the best...

Full remus
Which one is actually the loudest?
TONY C m performance exhaust, with a midpipe from fabspeed, dinan or supersprint, catless downpipes then you got around 125db :)

loudest does not = best. I can bang on a trashcan and it's loud, but does it sound good?
They all sound terrible. The only 2 things that can make the S55 sound good are a single turbo or equal length exhaust
HFCs are actually the key. Most are running catless downpipes and it makes the car sound worse.
Eric M what’s hfc?
Hyper light High flow cats
Congrats but the music killed it for me
