This month I felt inspired to read Ruth. I went in expecting to hear about strategies to "snap me a God fearing husband" but I left hearing "God's abandant grace and love for me." This teaching is spot on. Thank you 😊

I really enjoyed this teaching, every morning I purposely look for a teaching of the Bible stories and I ran across this teaching and this is a very good one, I have a good friend that has always called me Shonda Ruth and I knew there was strength in that, today as I listen to the story I could see myself and life as ruth. I thought she said that because I have been home taking care of my son who was in a accident 13 yrs ago and became totally dependent on the love of a mother to care for him so, this has been a very a sometimes lonely journey but, then there is god who has made my journey more of my assignment to honor him and his glory, so today has been one of those moments in my journey that has stamped my grace and mercy with the lord’s instructions and I am so thankful, thank you for your service to get his word out to the believers that we can everyday set out to be,do and have what the father has for us amen

In Ruth we have a clever little love story, accompanied by some few mishaps, but followed by the usual consummation - wedlock.
Elimelech (El is my king) = Aries during summer), a man of Beth-lehem-Judah (spring), having wed Naomi (summer) and got two sons by her, sets out with his family for Moab (winter). Elimelech (summer) soon died, and his sons Mahlon cave-Sun = summer) and Chilion (pining-away = winter) took them wives of the daughters of Moab. Orpah (fawn = Virgo in winter) and Ruth (female friend - Virgo in summer). The two sons died in turn, and without issue. The poor widow Naomi, finding hard fare in Moab, and hearing that the Lord had given his people bread (harvest of spring), set out on her return to the land of Judah (spring) with her two daughters- in-law (vs. 7). As they proceeded on their way, Naomi requested her daughters-in-law to return each to her mother's house, hoping that by so doing each might " rest in the house of her husband " (vs. 9). However, they continued to follow the old lady, as if they thought she would yet furnish them with other husbands; at least: the mother-in-law seemed to think that was their object. However, at the last moment (i.e., at the spring equinox), Orpah yielded to the request of Naomi, but Ruth (Virgo in summer) stuck by her, saying: "Where thou diest, will I die" (vs. 17), i.e., at the end of summer. So, the two came to Beth-lehem (spring harvest), when the people inquired: "Is this Naomi?" She replied: " Call me not Naomi (summer), but Mara (bitter = winter); for I went out (of summer) full, but the Lord hath brought me back empty " (vs. 21).
Naomi now, by her request, permits her daughter-in-law, Ruth (Virgo in summer), to go to the field of her kinsman (constellation Bootes), in whose sight, she was persuaded, she should find grace. Of course, she had a right to think her beauty would soon attract the attention of her kinsman, and she was right. Boaz told her " to abide fast by his maidens, and charged his young men not to touch her" (vs. 9). Ruth acknowledged her obligation to him, by falling on her face (Virgo sets head first) to the ground. Meanwhile the courtship went on until Ruth, by the advice of her mother-in- law, who understood all about such matters, cleaned herself up, put on her night clothes (3.3), and, when Boaz had got sufficiently fuddled and gone to bed, she came softly to where he lay, uncovered his feet, and got into bed with her lover (v. 7). Boaz, being merry, was in the proper mood, as the old mother had foreseen, to get into the trap thus set for him.
During the night, on coming to a little, he turned over and found a woman in bed with him. Of course, he was greatly frightened, and called out: " Who art thou? "The poor lonely, longing young widow, as much scared as he, answered: "I am Ruth, spread thy skirt over me "(3.9). At this Boaz was as much tickled as he was scared at first; for Ruth now showed him more kindness than she did at first (3.10). "I will do to thee all that thou requirest,"said he; for everybody knows that thou art a virtuous woman (vs. 11). There is another, said he, nearer than I, who ought to do the part of a kinsman; but never mind; "lie down until the morning" (3. 13). She did as request, "and rose up before one could know another." Boaz, as she departed, strictly charged her to tell nobody that she had slept with him over night, and gave her six measures of barley in part compensation for her company (3. 17).
Boaz next went to the gate (the eastern horizon), where he met the kinsman (Aries setting) whom he had spoken of to the young widow. Inviting him to sit down, he told him of the inheritance left by Elimelech, his brother. "The kinsman said, I cannot redeem it for myself, lest I mar mine own inheritance; redeem thou my right to thyself" (4. 6) - Winter could not become summer. So, Boaz redeemed it for himself, had the bargain ratified after the usual way, and took Ruth for (servant) by name = the Redeemer = Christ = the summer Sun!
The curious reader will look on the celestial globe, where he will see Ruth (Virgo) going to bed, i.e., setting at the feet of Boaz, or Bootes, the ox-driver, otherwise called Arcto-phy-lax, or the Bear-driver, in allusion to Ursa major, directly west of him.

What an excellent teaching. God clearly has given you a gift Dr. Smith! This video made everything in the book so clear, there were so many things I overlooked while reading it for the first time, now I know how all the pieces of the story fit together and how God is working through each person, even though God doesn't have any dialogue. God doesn't need dialogue He only needs to bless and work miracles in people's lives!

I *love* Dr. Smith's exegesis on scripture. I've borrowed some of his items and inserted them into my sermons. I consider myself one of his students. I wish l could sit in live while he's teaching. Although as a 45+ year Bible student, l agree with about 95% of his teachings. I don't agree with his analysis of Naomi's Theology. I've always felt her godly lifestyle was an influence to Ruth's steadfast cinversion. She struggled like Job, Elijah, Jonah, and other Bible heroes. I'd love to dialogue with Dr. Smith. He is fascinating.

Have to know the character of God. when you can’t see what he is doing you have to fall back on God’s character. When his acts makes not sense his character is what you trust. You can never trust the circumstances of your own life. The character of God shows that he is Good and he define Good by his very own character.

This story is so hard for me, as I married an Elimelek . I tried to do everything right, but it was never good enough. GOD never did anything right in his eyes either, so he died. The only problem is, his body is still alive. I'm a married-widow with NO friends, and no Ruth. My husband left, but I refuse to divorce him. It's a covenant marriage, and I will NOT participate in the cancer of the church and go to a civil court, get a civil divorce, and "re-marry."
That leaves me as Naomi, not bitter, but definitely destitute. I'm a mother of 8 raising the bottom four alone. There is no chance for me to go out and meet people. I live in the Bible day and night. Because I live in the Bible day and night, nobody wants me around, especially pastors. Basically, I know too much and they hate that. The fact that I have no husband gives me a double whammy, and they just assume there is something wrong with me. I stopped going to church, I just watch these videos, pray, read, study the Bible and go to the gym. I know all of this has been by the Sovereign hand of GOD, I just don't know where I'm going, what I'm to do, or how to cope. Basically, death is my only deliverance, but life and death is not in my hands. So, I write: searchingfordriedbones.blogspot.com/2019/04/when-death-is-your-only-way-out-how.html

God is good..........all the time........and yet you believe that He empties your hand and causes terrible grief and pain and suffering ? In order to achieve a greater purpose ?
I say God is good......all the time.......and the emptying of our hand, which causes terrible grief and pain and suffering is the result either of satan's attack on our lives, or the consequence often, of our own sin and failure, or poor choices, which we then have to live with.
It is God, who takes satan's schemes and our own fleshly mistakes and turns them around because of His unending grace, mercy and love and causes ALL things to work together for good, for those who love Him, thus bringing Him the glory that is due His name.
Why do people want to attribute their suffering to God ?
How can I trust that He loves me, if He is emptying my hand and bringing pain upon me ?
Do I do that, to something I love ??
No, love protects.......it has boundaries, it corrects, it exhorts......but it doesn't deliberately and wilfully inflict pain.
The life of Christ and the work of the cross, was to show us who God is and how much He loves us.
Christ said, if you have seen me, you have seen the Father.
    This is the new covenant.
His love, which is more vast than any of us can fathom, is the thing that draws us and causes us to want to serve Him, please Him and lay down our lives for Him.
We are in a battle beloved.......with the devil and our flesh and the world........God is our anchor.
Don't ever stand at a funeral and tell yourself that God wanted to take your beloved to teach you something.
God is perfectly able to teach us our lessons, without causing our loved one's to rot away and die.
Be blessed in Him and thank you for all the other insights I "gleaned" from this teaching X

God does not make your spouse turn on your or run off with somebody else. That is a combination of human free will and the temptations of the devil. The devil is constantly trying to tempt people and we have the power to resist. Don't blame God for what people and lucifer do.

      Naomi
      נָעֳמִ֗י (nā·‘o·mî)
Noun - proper - feminine singular
Strong's Hebrew 5281: Naomi = 'my delight' 1) wife of Elimelech, mother of Mahlon and Chilion, and mother-in-law of Ruth and Orpah
We ran this through Strong's Lexicon for you, hope this helps! :)

@@GCBIMedia Boaz was 70 years old when she met Ruth I think according to Jewish Mishnah...he lost lot of children before meeting Ruth and according to Jewish Mishnah he died next day after his marriage to Ruth ( she became pregnant on wedding night). That is why when Ruth has a baby boy neiomi does not mention the name of Boaz at that moment..God bless

I have no idea why you say Ruth was beautiful in appearance. God does not seem to shy away when He talks about a woman's physical beauty. Yet, He does not do so in the book of Ruth. Instead we see the beauty of her character which surpasses most people on the planet I think it is a dangerous thing to add to God's word.

Not enough research and many assumptions here. No one knows it all, but much more confidence in your conclusions when you admit when you don't know something instead of saying, "Oh, she was trying to wake Boaz by uncovering his feet." INSTEAD: There was a Jewish tradition she was following. Please.....a beautiful young woman just happening at this rich, honorable, elder's feet? No. Reasearch, please; don't suppose.
