I've loved this song since I bought the album in '71. It's a beautiful blend of guitars, organ, and percussion, like a salad to feed your mind. The Santana band were at a peak at this time.
Santana cooperated with many of the cream artists. He was an idol of Prince. But check the mature Santana: "Europa" live at Montreux 2011. Experience and self-confidence.
sabes que - this was the last album he put out before turning he back on the “drug induced lifestyle of a 1970s musician” and switched over to the jazz infused style you may have anticipated. Pero debo decir - for better or for worse, those “drug daze” produced some very creative arrangements! Neal Schon was the secondary guitarist on this album (only 17 years old at the time!)

This song is from Santana ( the band ) not just Carlos
That Santana album, Santana III, the entire thing, is absolutely killer.

One of my favorite tunes off this album. Thanks! I think Neil Schon does a lot of the guitar work in this song.

El mejor Rock Clásico, Santana
His guitar playing here. Sounding like Mick Taylor.
Santana teamed up with John McLaughlin. They were buddy-buddy. Maybe that's who you were thinking of.
Se A Cabo by Santana is a short song off Abraxas that is more of a rock tune and has some pretty mean guitar in it. I think you'd like that one.
John Lee Hooker with Carlos Santana, Healer Blues, best Santana I have ever heard.
Try "Europa" for another great Santana guitar performance.
Also, please check out Stevie Ray Vohn. I think you will like him.
Rolon
Suave.
