The ending of "stimpy's fan club" is so cuuutee....
'Specially since it was so dark before that
Space madness best episode ever still laugh about it today and quote it with my siblings
2 episodes I love are "Hermit Ren" and "Insomniac Ren". I think the reason I loved this cartoon as a kid wasn't so much the dark humor (though that's definitely a main factor since I've always been that way), but also, I relate to Ren way more than I'd like to, especially those 2 episodes in particular, lol.
I always related to Ren as well. Even as a kid his character resonated with me more. There truly wasn't another character like him in TV at that time.
I relate to Ren more as well, I was an emotional kid who cried at the drop of a hat and was abused by my stepdad for five straight years and had anger issues in my teens and early 20’s because of it.
1. Sven Hoek
2. Stimpys Invention

6. The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen
7. Ren's Toothache

9. The Great Outdoors
10. Nurse Stimpy
Well man's banned friend was a banned episode so the does not count
You can’t put a number on the episodes, they’re all good.
@@unekagray4089 it does count because it's still the show even though it's on the s1 & s2 DVD why is it listed in adult party cartoon
@@bruh-yo6ef john confirmed Adult Party Cartoon is not even canon...
@@unekagray4089 thats a relief

What about don't whiz off the electric fence!
+kiara Rodriguez
Svën Hoëk? Most people either love that one or find it meh from what I know.
I Love Chicken and Hermit Ren are underrated imo.
Definitely Hermit Ren! Ren has a Jack from The Shining moment.
Yes!!!! Love them both as well!
I think hermit ren is on par with Sven höek and Stimpy's fan club.
I wasn’t even alive in the 90’s but i grew up on this show I’m glad i had a father who knew what was good content or not
Parenting done right 🤘
A personal favourite on mine is Jerry the Bellybutton Elf. Just having Gilbert Gottfried go full on crazy in a Ren and Stimpy cartoon is just hilarious!
My favorite scene from R&S is the psychedelic sequence from this one.
Ren and Stimpy can be best described as an adult cartoon disguised as a children’s show in order to get on the air.
you can diss john k for being overly excessive, but the best episodes were made under his direction. he is the stanley kubrick of cartoons
great countdown btw, i agree with just about everything
Yeah all but one on this list were John K episodes.
All his cracking down actually was for good reason it would appear.
IoST I agree, John K's episodes are the best of the series
+Lobo's Top 5
Yeah, and the one episode on this list that wasn't John K's was at the bottom of the list. Coincidence? I dunno, man...
+Lobo's Top 5
Actually, I'm seeing more than one episode on this list that didn't involve John K...
I'm far too lazy to rewatch it, but all but one were under his reign right?
I hate it when someone calls ren and stimpy way too foul and inappropriate and when they give an example they are actually talking about the adult version remake
If anything, the adult party cartoon is more inappropriate compared to the original.
@@robbiewalker2831 That's precisely the point. Adult Cartoon Party is on the nose with its crudeness, and the quality suffers accordingly. As such, it sucks when people unfamiliar with the original show judge it based on ACP.
That’s my adult party ruined ren and stimpy too many people thing that it’s the same shoe
Adult party is great. They're both good.
You are all MORONS. The original RAS cartoons were WAY more filthy and obscene than the stupid adult cartoons on the so called "Adult Swim". Some tits and hairy morons do not a classic make. Funny as it is to watch the boys lathering up naked tits and contemplating the most hairy of buttocks, it is just cannon fodder compared to the spectacle of Stimpy and Sven Hoek sharing a private moment in Stimpy's filthy and disgusting litter box.
Sven Hoek is my favorite episode it's just so memorable! Especially that part where Ren talks about how he's going to kill Stimpy and his own cousin
Love this! Even as a kid I understood that forcing Ren to be happy against his will was a disturbing concept!
But there were two episodes I really loved that weren't on the list. Where Stimpy won the Muddy Mudskipper contest and left Ren to be a star, and the one where Stimpy looked for his lost friend 'Stinky' until he wanders out into a blizzard searching for him.
Untamed World's my all time favorite! Happy happy happy! Joy joy joy!
I liked the feature with Sven Hoek.
My opinion is that all episodes belong on the list
"Maybe I should make another mistake... maybe two more."
Call the police!!!!
I remember when Ren & Stimpy first aired on Nickelodeon. Lasted a bit before parents complained and got it taken off. Years later they had it on "Adult Swim". Great memories. 😊
I know these lists are all subjective but here's mine:
# 1 (BY FAR): Stimpy's Fan Club
#2: In the army
#3: Sven Hoek
#4: Insomniac Ren
#5: Ren's Toothache
#6: Hard times for Haggis
#7: The Royal Canadian Kilted Yaksmen
#8: Blazing Entrails
#9: Jerry the Bellybutton Elf
#10: Stimpy's Invention
My favorite is probably Hermit Ren! That episode is really well done! I also love the Wild West, In the Army and the one where they pretend to be babies🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great list though!
P.S. Mr. Horse is timeless🐴
7:49 Hey Rens beloved as well! Perhaps not in- universe, but at least by many adults and kids in real life. There was even a situation where hundreds of kids wrote Ren letters, saying they loved him too, after this episode aired.
Right? Ren’s my favorite 🥺
I really liked the Halloween episode where they mess around in an old haunted house while a ghost tries to scare them.
I remember the show when it first aired; it was something wild and different. I'm still surprised that it didn't get the axe after its first season, LOL.
Aside from the iconic and beloved episodes that all fans seem to hold dear, I was (and still remain) drawn strongly to the "mad scientist" and "retro b-movie" type of episodes such as Double Header, Ren's Brain, and Ren's Bitter Half. There's just something wonderful about them.
But back to the fan favorites: the episode Stimpy's Fan Club is such a great character study, and it's fortunate that it is a full length story at over 20 minutes long; we get a rich and interesting look at Ren's psyche and resentment. And listening to the dialogue is half the fun here-- super writing and voice work.
This video is a solid countdown with really worthy choices.

5. Sven Hoak
4. Man's Best Friend
3. Powdered Toast Man

#1. Stimpy's Invention
Agreed
The "One yard too far" episode was one of my favorite episodes :) The part when the baboon fell in love with the puppet was funny :D
Your list is good- this was THE cartoon back in the day. I remember being floored by their non-Hanna-Barbara animation style. Long time ago, I used to attend the International Tournee of Animation at the local theatre in my hometown, I saw Big House Blues at that show and R&S was the one cartoon I took away from it. Then it hit Nickelodeon: WHAT?! Then history was made. There was so much joy to be had from recording the episodes on VHS and then pausing it to see the frames of animation in between parts. There was nothing else like it. When Stimpy wharfs the hairballs on Ren, or watching Ren fighting the happy helmet..... just, there weren't any other cartoons that did that before, so it was perfect that a cartoon like R&S was so crude- it fit the animation style. What if R&S was done like The Flintstones with that choppy, overused animation? It wouldn't have worked.
rens toothache...loved that one.
What rolls down stairs doubles in pears and runs over your neighbor's dog fits on your back it's great for a snack it's log log log it's log its log it's big it's heavy it's wood it's log its log it's better than bad it's good so come on and get your log
They think I'm crazy
but I know better
It is not I who am crazy it is I who am mad! hahahahahahahahahaha
My favorites have always been "Sven Hoek" and "Rubber Nipple Salesman." Other classics include "Stimpy's Invention" and "My Shiny Friend"
Stimpy's invention contexualized the insanity and anxiety I felt as a kid. I just didn't know it at the time.
My Mom and I both loved this show ever since it came out, I was 9 years old but I really liked the warped adult humor and found it hilarious. We still quote the show all the time-“Caramaley caramaley caramel corrrrnn!!” and “Oh joy!” and our favorite: “A bloody head! And it’s a Jim Dandy!”
Those Adult Party cartoons were so terrible they almost killed the legendary run! Hell, they killed John K's rep.
John's rep would've got ruined sooner or later, I think you know what I'm talking about..
Alex 001 I don’t, care to explain?
Christopher Howard hopefully Jhon k looked at it back and realized what an awful mistake he had created
Well, that and the sexual assault allegations :p
Not so. Because they're expressly for ADULTS, obviously, they contain ADULT THEMES AND GRAPHICS. Grow up...and laugh yer butt off. They're JOKES!...ADULT...PARTY...JOKES!!! NOT INTENDED FOR KIDS!! or, didn't you READ THE TITLE???
Thanks for sharing this! It took me back to my childhood, I had forgotten about moat of these episodes. So cool!
This is my favorite cartoon ever. I was around when it first aired. We waited 7 months for it. Parents hated it, don't know one child in my era that wasn't in love with this cartoon! They tried to ban it when we loved it so much. They couldn't ban it!!
What about Sven Hoek
TFGC yeah that's the best one!!!!
That episode was great too!
Its my favorite episode
I liked it, but it wasn't the best IMO. There was a lot of jokes but some moments dragged on.
Indeed! It's on my top 3
Ahh! He is holly, you are Sven! 😂
Man these take me back thanks for the video I love the nostalgia
i love how rens' teeth flare out of his mouth when he yells at stimpy
I was a 1 year old when this show came out and I remember me and my mom singing happy happy joy joy whenever it came on tv lol
(I know I am late to the party but) I like how the background music when ever it was the transition to the next one on the list it was playing the opening music to the SNES game Sitmpys Invention.
You really hit the nail on the head with Stimpy’s Invention. What also makes it so great and worthy of praise is how it’s the absolute best episode to show to newcomers of the show.
You get questions on IG , who's your favorite super hero?? I always say "Powder Toast Man" Most don't get it!!
Bullshit....
Oh how I loved the original Ren & Stimpy! In the mid 90s, MTV was broadcasting the R&S show nightly. I don't remember why, but it was great for me as I taped every episode that I could on VCR tape. When it was said and done I had a couple of tapes and HOURS of the best cartoon of alltime! Such a great time...I think it was Beavis and Butthead followed by R&S...or the other way around lol...I just know it was awfully smoky in mah living room and many, many brain cells bit the dust during those wonderful day. I know they tried to revive it with the APC version but it just tried too hard to be "adult"...the original was adult enough with some of the humor being strictly for the older crowd. To me, it was just a way to unwind with your friends , get stupid and laugh like idiots for a while...always just another group of goofballs laughing and having fun...exactly what Ren & Stimpy were all about!
Greatest countdown ever! Thanx alot!
You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it!
do i ever :D
My favorite episode is pixie king. I just found this one hilarious! It's my personal favorite!
LMFAO, when you showed the "Fire Dogs" episode I had a flashback to a huge dissapointment from my childhood, lol. On my 11th birthday my parents took me to the game store and let me pick out any game I wanted and I ended up picking the Ren and Stimpy game that was based off the fire dogs episode. God dammit was that a depressing birthday, lol. I was all excited the whole drive home, reading the back of the box and the instruction booklet and being super excited to plop the cartridge in and play some Ren and Stimpy. I rushed through the front door and right to my room and turned it on. Within 15 minutes my whole fucking birthday was shit. Good god was that a terrible excuse for a video game. Video games were kind of a gamble during the SNES/Genesis generation. There was no RUclips to see if a game was any good, all you had to go on to decide if a game was worth it were T.V. commercials, video game magazines, or if you were lucky you had a friend or a family member that had the game and you could play it to decide if you wanted it. Plus every cartoon and movie had a game, and the commercials always made them look fucking bad ass.SNES games were a total gamble. The worst part about it was that brand new SNES games were fucking $70, so if you picked a shitty game (which happened a lot, lol), not only were you stuck with an awful game, but you were also out $70 on top of it.
I had a similar experience with Simpsons Wrestling on PlayStation.
SinCity Sinner Hell! The exact same thing happened to me with the Mad Max NES game. I actually took the game out of the NES and placed it under the tire of my dad's truck.
Rentals?!
Don't like the AVGN had a video based on that game
No game cost $70 back then. I'm 34, I should know.
my favourite episodes were the ones starring George Liquor, American!
There's only two!
Powdered Toast Man
My favorite episode of all time is “rubber nipple salesmen”
*Stimpys Fan Club*
"Yeeooouuw" YEEOUUWWW An' you're fan mail .... No. 1 for me
😂😂👌
Like you, my favorite ep. will always be "Stimpy's fan club" because it was the first one I saw. It scared me at 7 years old, but I kept coming back for more, and now I just laugh whenever I watch it. Someone did a spot-on parody of it here on youtube a while back, and the attention to detail was insane. Just type in "Marital Complaints | Ren & Stimpy Tribute" and prepare to laugh.
To be honest.....when I first saw the title of this video, I instantly thought "Surely, Space Madness is #1". I very much agree with your placing of these episodes, and as you stated, #1 and #2 could be switched given the day of the week or what kind of mood I was in, at the moment of the asking of the question. Regardless, I very much enjoyed this video. It was nice to see them all lined up and narrated in this way. Good job.
Thank you so much!

1. Man's Best Friend
While there have been tons of laughs and amazement to be had from a majority of Ren & Stimpy episodes, there’ve were tons of episodes that just felt like it was going through the motions without any passion at all. Regardless of these snags, I still love this show and I can take comfort in the fact that it’s best material has stood the test of time. One of my all time favorite cartoons from my childhood and I will still continue to enjoy it all throughout my adulthood.
I always loved A Yard Too Far. The baboon’s intensity was a personal favorite of mine. Space Madness, Sven Hoek and the wrestling episode are stand out.
I have to agree with this
I was 16 when ren and Stimpy began.
I've been a fan since

Happy 30th Anniversary to The Ren & Stimpy Show (August 11, 1991).
It was a episode when they were stranded on a planet they got to a bus that required exact change and I also like the episode when stimpy becomes a millionaire.

Thank you so much. Really appreciate it.
Loved that show, wish it was still on.
I differently agree with number 1 and 2 those are my favorite ones
Thanks. It was hard to choose since number 2 was my personal favorite, but I knew that the number 1 choice was a technically better episode.
I guess Rubber Nipple Salesmen was only ranked #11?
That's one of the best Episodes.
I do LOVE every episode on this list. However, IF I could substitute #10 OR IF I could slip in an Honorable Mention, I want Jerry The Bellybutton ELF on this list. JUST hearing Gilbert Gottfried's voice was enough to give me FITS of laughter. When he LOST his SHIT because Stimpy made Lint Loaf, it was sublime! Casting Gilbert Gottfried was an inspiration of comedic GENIUS!

Ya I agree :3 how about the first episode? And the big day
@@Local.Crystal Those episodes were really great as well. Honestly season 1 and 2 were the absolute best. The third season was pretty alright, but that's also when the quality started slipping.
The one with the babysitter. When Ren and stimpy are playing babies
"Big baby Scam."
Ren Hoek is the greatest actor of this generation .Stimpys Fan Club is his masterpiece
Love the video. Would love more ren and stimpy videos :)
Ash Walden That would be fun. Maybe in the future.
Old School Lane awesomeness :)
So this did exist and it wasn't a fever dream? Good to know! Wonder where it disappeared to between five year old me watching it with my cousin while the adults weren't looking and now?
It's been there. Nick's relationship with the show has been a bit "tumultuous", along with it's relationship with it's creator.
John K when making Ren's Toothache: OKAY. WE'RE GONNA MAKE THOSE FUCKIN' BRATS BRUSH THEIR DAMN TEETH. AND HERE'S HOW WE'RE GONNA DO IT.
Nickelodeon Networkers: You're starting to scare us John . . .
A bridge too far, the great Escape,
To this day, I really wish there was a doll of the Croco-Stimpy with a Happy Happy Joy Joy Ripcord! It'll never happen but one can dream! Great list! Wished they made more Nature Documentary episodes!
Patricia .. that was amazing.. very sublime the messages in Ren and Stimpy ... strange but evocative ... now do Powdered Toast Man .. lol
i like the haunted house one in the same way as a yard too far. Just a fun simple episode
Don't wiz on the electric fence. Hand down my favorite.
Am I the only one who actually loved this show as a kid ?
Thank you so much! Love your video. I grew up my childhood with those episodes (born 1989) Santa Cruz - Bolivia (Latinoamerica)
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it!
fun fact:after stimpys fanclub aired everyone sent fanmail to nick saying they love ren
I would include episodes from later seasons like I Was A Teenage Stimpy.
I always wanted to know where they got those sayings in the Happy Happy Joy Joy song. Thank you.
You can thank 1 unfit woman from Michigan who used Television as her baby sitter then didn't like her child quoting Ren & Stimpy to her so she sent a letter to NICK threatening to get her alleged group of mothers she controlled to start a letter campaign to corporations advertising on Nick... John K got fired...
The 1st me and my group of mid to late 20's friends i introduce to Ren & Stimpy was a rerun of Swen Hoek we already saw but were still going to not watch anything else our night and when Ren starts to describe what he is going to do to them for covering his opra records in bubblegum and sticking on the walls... his collection of "rare incurable exotic pathogens" violated... HiS petrified Dinosaur poop droppings. Painted.... like EASTER EGGS..
How could you leave this off of any Ren & Stimpy top10.. Hell... It is top 5.... With Flintstones reference in it... Come on...
Anyway... When Ren should told Swen & Stimpy he would fist tear their lips off. Instead bmusic dubbed over the whole ending. ..
should have been #1 moments for Nick..
.. When they sold out
Man's Best Friend was hilarious, why did they fire John K and ban something so hilarious?
Because he was difficult to work with was never satisfied with his staff of animators was a very opinionated man constantly shitting on cartoons like animaniacs and Tiny toon adventures had a huge ego beleaving that he was the best in the business and thought he was bigger than he actually is now.
Times also changed and His content was getting too crude and adult for nickelodeon and didn't fit with there kid friendly cartoon line up plus he always wanted to make ren and stimpy more adult which backfired with the adult party cartoon.
Plus its been confirmed that john k is another vile Hollywood predator who hired and groomed young under age female artists for his own personal gain of power he even joked about drawing his female characters being hot and under age in a old interview.
However with saying all this he is a influential animator of think 80s and 90s he inspired shows like cow and chicken and other adult oriented shows plus his art style is really cool I think his show and art style should be remembered and the staff who worked on ren and stimpy John K not so much.
They always had problems with censors hating on r & s. And, John played on [what's her name's...] her emotions, always playing up the intended story, but, come delivery, it was never quite the "adorable", "cute", or fill-in-the-blank adjective he literally sold her on to buy and air the episode, by then, it was too late. The ep. was scheduled and she'd have nothing else to substitute it with. Since it always had an additive effect on viewership numbers, her bosses would ride out THEIR bosses criticizms of the "just over the line" content. Plus. He already paid staff as they created it, and Nick was very desperate for creator driven content. Bc it was far better than the 80's crap of merchandiseation of characters...blecccchh!
If you have questions like the one we're all answering, you can pretty much hear all the answers directly from john k right in the interview/ comments on each of the box sets of each season. Amazingly, he's very open about himself. He doesn't try to hide "who he is".
He was missing deadlines for shows and couldn't keep up with producing shows at a quicker rate.
Love the pics. But I always loved when stimpys cousin came and they peed on the electric fence. Or rather that was ren lol.
I'm just going to say that the dog gimmick is a bit older than the yogi bear reference. The yogi bear toon was probably inspired by the shorts of tom and jerry with the dog in the next door neighbor's backyard. It's from the 1940s and I can't remember the name of the character or the title. It was a pretty common trope in Tom and Jerry. Even going as far as the dog character getting a son teaching him how to antagonize Tom!
The dog's name was Spike and the puppy was named Tyke.
The shiny, candy like button!
The glazed ham!
I love ren and stimpy!
