Look at that bow-sprit! This ketch is rigged exactly the way I love! I was a sloop man in my youth, but as I grew older and wiser, the many sail plan options offered by a cutter rigged ketch, became my favourite!
Super good looking vessel wether it’s 45 yrs old or 5 !
I loved the gimbeld old kerosene/oil lamp on the nav-station’s bulk head! So, so cool!
    Peace

    She's such a beautiful boat!
Only complaint I have is the tour was way too short. I'd have liked to see the salon and the forward end of her.

I saw this boat for sale a few years back and wished it had been the right time and place for me. Then the JoshuaGG class was announced... I thought I could buy one new. But that builder has disappeared. Are there plans still available? I don't think they remain from Meta, but maybe the new ones still exist from joshuagg?

The drawings are in possession of the owner of this vessel, I have some pictures from the drawings. Need to check the backup for those, also will ask the owner if he is willing to create a copy.

This boat has an outboard rudder. That means the rudder post is just behind the stern the Mizzen mast is stepped well forward of the rudder post = KETCH

🤔 What’s the point of a Yacht video with no narrative? I realize that it crosses the language barrier but only at the expense of conveying useful information. At least there was no distracting Euro-techno pop music 😂👍.

Donald, your original post utilized “ at the end of the sentence, Causing me to ponder 🤔: Was Donald mistakenly referring to my age when he actually meant my length? I was let down when another “ was observed at the beginning of your sentence and observed that the “quotes” were subsequently deleted.🤣
Adults are capable of feeling and expressing more than one emotion. The thumbs up 👍 expressed appreciation for the absence of canned Euro-techno pop music (so maddeningly prevalent in these types of yacht promotions).
The laughter 😂 was a weak attempt at satire that one would think this video was effective marketing. I wonder how many inquires or new subscribers (besides myself 😉) were generated by this piece.
Yacht Broker Caribbean now has 100 subscribers after having this channel for three years. I subscribed, and hope that my constructive criticism hasn’t “butt hurt” an important broker. Perhaps the number of new subscribers and inquiries will be viewed as a measure of this brokerage’s future marketing effectiveness.
I do however take your point referring to the extensive description provided: Joshua is a 42’ Ketch and the video was taken in France 🇫🇷 !
What more information would a buyer need than this? 🤣 No need for a specification sheet, for instance. The almost silent film, but for the wind and creaking cabin sole, conveyed all an interested party needs. I gleaned from the video that it was built in 1977 making it 44 YO, that it might be either 40’ or 42’, and that it probably has had 130,000 NM of water passing under the keel, a good sturdy boat by appearance, but of unspecified maintenance history (all of which might have been conveyed had either in a “Berthon International type narrative” or a written commentary been provided).
My guess that this is a replica of Bernard’s “Golden Globe” contestant boat, and that, judging by the small amounts of rust, that Northern Lights is of steel construction and generally is well maintained. 😎
I have refrained from doubling up emoticons in this response and will strive for simplicity of expression in the future. 🤗

@@vincentstouter449 the broker clearly doesn’t use this channel to sell boats on youtube, just to have some teasers about some of the boats that are up for sale on their website.
Hard to understand for a wiseass like yourself, i know...you would do it differently, i know...satire is only funny when it starts from the right premisse, otherwise it just makes you look stupid.

I was just responding to your 12 YO remark. If you want to troll, I will play the dual of wits game. It’s just satiric riffing. No ill will is intended.
Out of curiosity, you have any connection to the Yacht Brokers Caribbean? It seems like my initial remarks were taken as a personal insult yielding the insulting response.
Donald, I respect that you use your name as do I. I’ve no use for those to hide behind pseudonyms (cowards). We might just choose reset the conversation and refrain from further insults.
My passion is sailing (especially design). Teasers disappoint me. Information inspires. While my experience is lake, river, and costal sailing my aspiration aspiration is blue water.
To this end, knowledge to make the right choice just takes homework and crew time. I just don’t have either the time or assets to make poor decisions.
As a broker, I really think that extolling the virtues of a particular design and that yacht’s virtues will do more to stimulate interest than a “teaser video” (in fact they really turn me off). I prefer that which appeals to the rational brain rather than the glands. Salesmanship and marketing trumps teasing (one man’s opinion). 😎
      Peace, 😎

@@vincentstouter449 i have no connection with the broker, i just sometimes get tired of wiseass comments under youtube videos from people who don’t understand the purpose of a video and judge them for what they want them to be. Teaser videos are very useful if you click on them from the brokers website where you have all the other info (not if you randomly stumble on them on youtube). That’s why salespeople use them. Northern lights is a pretty famous replica of moitessier’s joshua, that sailed all over the world and spent a winter frozen in the ice in antarctica...use the google if you want to know more or go to the brokers website...it might still be on there.

Its beautiful, but not ketch, this is a jawl. The second (back or aft, or little) mast is behind the steering wheel. If it would be before, called ketch. (Sorry for reasoning)

It is a Ketch. Reason being the Missen mast is ahead of the rudder. Would be real cool if this was a Yawl rig.

@@willymueller3278 No way, originally its a jawl. When the cockpit (rudderstock) is before the mizzen-mast, the vessel is yawl. Whent its after the mizzen-mast, that ship is the ketch. The company mistakenly named this beautiful vessel as ketch, but is not correct. Generally, they call the all of two masted vessel as ketch, but the two masted vessels can be schoorers, cutters, sloop, yawls, or ketch, its depend on the sails type, and the height of the masts. When the vessel has foremast and mainmast, called it schooner or sloop, sometimes cutter, when it has mainmast and mizzenmast, called ketch or yawl, depend on the rudder stock, or cockpit positions.
