I have always hated flared jeans. I remember distinctly in the late 70s trying to sew my jeans so they were more narrow around the bottom of my legs. I was only 11 or 12 years old… Loved the 80s when things got more narrow. And, even though they are in fashion, I think we should all just wear what makes us feel good. That’s what I do. Thanks for another fun video.

I loved that red and pink striped t-shirt. The sleeves looked slightly different on the inset picture. Love that colour combination. The first dress was also very nice and I liked the final outfit. It’d be great if your mum could alter the trousers for you. Otherwise there’s that iron-on tape which is pretty good.

The black trousers and beige top look really lovely on you, but the cost of having the trousers altered would probably make it not worth it.

Hi Caroline, I couldn't comment on your Shein vlog as comments were turned off, so I am replying here. I bought the long skirt in a black and I love it. I've washed it, as I always wash before I wear as there were some creases. It's washed lovely, I washed it on a 15 minute cycle at 20 degrees and a 1200 spin. It has washed lovely. I took it out of the washer immediately, gave it a shake and hung on a hanger to dry. I've also purchased the shacket from this vlog, I got the last size 18, woo hoo. So pleased with them all. Take care, have a lovely weekend xxx

Loved my flares in the 70's - the longer the better - worn over my chunky hippy style clogs with my cheesecloth smock tops. Those were the days. Prefer a straight leg shape these days - much more forgiving!

I like the black pair of flare pants, the gray flare jeans I think are too short to look good on anyone lol. You seem to be in a happy mood, and I just love to hear you laugh, you're a beautiful lady. Hope you and your family is doing good. God Bless

Hi Caroline, loved the first dress and the flared jeans, and the black trousers. I'm the same proportion as you 5'3" with a long body and short legs and I find the only way to wear flares is to wear them long with platforms underneath to they elongated my legs, never cropped! ❤

Morning Caroline. I agree the first dress is a little big. I personally don't like flared jeans but they do look nice on you. Think the trousers would work if they were shorter. Thought the green dress was a bit clingy and love the shacket. Think you could downsize on it. All great value xx

I am a jeans/ trouser wearer and don't own a skirt or dress. I like narroe, straight and wide but never wear flared. I must have worn them in the 70's but think that's where they should have stayed.
As always, thanks Caroline. I do enjoy your videos..

Caroline I always have this problem with flares being a size 20 and only 5ft 2” however there is a holy grail combo !!!
M&S cotton wide leg pants with a tee shirt and over shirt always looks smart and feels comfortable
You can easily dress the combo up for evening wear with heeled shoes jewellery and accessories
I personally love black pants a black over shirt and a white tee shirt for evening
Give it a go you’ll love it 🥰
Ps your hair and make up looked really good in this video ❤

I struggle the same as you with jeans I’m sticking to skinny leg or leggings as I can’t find any jeans to suit me at all Having a large tummy but slimmer legs just leaves me with bagginess at top of my legs and I’m only 5ft 3 too so length is always an issue I like the shacket/shirt the most x

5ft UK size 20 pear shaped here. Having heavy thighs I am so happy to see skinny go and wide leg come in 🤣🤣. I always iron/steam flares/wide legs the same way as men’s trousers instead of the way the stores hang/pack them before I make a decision. This forces the wide bottom out over the shoe instead of sticking out over the ankles. I have been taking trousers up since my early teens always using WonderUnder hem tape. Only twice have I had a hem start to come down. Hard to keep side splits (as in the navy striped trousers) as usually the factory process uses overcast bound seams with no excess fabric above the slit.

I like the grey jeans and I think, once washed, the flare will relax and look less noticeable. They do hide the swelling in your knee! Love the pinstripe trousers and yes get someone to hem them. Interesting haul but not the best one you've ever had.

Don't think there was anything wrong with the style of the jeans Caroline, more the colour. I don't like my tummy either and tend to find the lighter the colour of the jeans the more it seems to emphasize the tummy area. The navy "joggers" at the end looked much better on you x

Perhaps you would prefer slim fit flared jeans. They fit similar to straight leg jeans but flare out at the bottom. I don't like jeans that don't fit under the bottom so I always go for the slim fit flares. I buy mine in Marks and Spencer from the Per Uno range. The shorter dress was my favourite but I agree a smaller size would be more flattering. Glad to see you more like your self. When I lost my mum I had good days and bad and something out of the blue would trigger me to get emotional. I knew it was natural and just went with it. Look after yourself. Wendy

Good morning Caroline! I thought the smock dress was very cute, & as you already mentioned, it would be more flattering in a smaller size. I'm 65, I love wearing flare leg jeans, but those gray jeans were not flare leg. They were wide leg...flare leg jeans are narrower up top on your thighs and gradually flare out towards your ankle. Those jeans were way too wide starting at the top, and wouldn't look good on anyone, I don't think. Another really good video that I enjoyed, was nice to see you laugh. Have a lovely rest of your week, cheers from America 💕

I thought the flared jeans looked great on you, I know they are hard to get use to. If you styled them with a white top or shirt knotted in the front and your white trainers you would be happier with them. I think your shacket was one size too big, the size below would still be roomy. If you don’t sew just cut hems off at desired length and use iron on hemming tape to secure.

Caroline, I think you don't like the wider jeans just because you aren't used to seeing yourself in them. Like most others here, I think they looked fab and much more flattering than skinnies on a plus size. I think you should persevere, try different top combinations, maybe a small French tuck? I say stick with it, give yourself chance to get used to how you look in them, then you might see what everyone else does. ❤ The pinstripe joggers outfit looked great, really modern and fresh. Overall, a great haul. Thank you. Xx

Not a fan of the red stripey T-shirt. I love blue. Your asides during the video made me giggle. I am the same as you with trouser lengths. I am a matronly 5ft 2 and find getting trousers that a short enough a real pain. M&S are usually good at different lengths. I actually think the grey jeans look good. When you’re not used to a shape on yourself it is difficult to see how they actually fit. They do fit on your bum and just fall from there rather then cupping. I am not saying this are specifically the right ones. I’d say keep looking!

Wide legs have a tendency to make people look square. Think the best option is to go for a slim bootcut. At least they are narrow at top and only flare out at bottoms. We'll that's what I'm trying for. Live shacked and little smock dress but think it would be too short on me. I'm 5ft 8. Really did not like that pink and red t shirt. No shape and neck too high

  • @1960gal
    @1960gal 6 месяцев назад

Personally l'm not keen on wide legged jeans. I've got slim legs (the only bit of me that is!!) and l find anything other than skinny jeans make me look much bigger all over.
I do like a boot leg cut though, as long as it's got a bit of stretch. I have a pair of flairs from Tu but I feel like I'm going to trip over with all that fabric floating around!
I'm 63 so not too bothered that everyone says that skinny jeans are passé!😊
I'll be controversial here too and say that l feel that the clothing at George Asda isn't as nice as it once was. I think I noticed the difference when the new owners took over: the quality changed. They lost me when they introduced S/M/L/XL instead of individual sizes.
Shame, because l liked their casual tunics and tops.

Hi Caroline I agree with @jantabb8966 the jeans are wide leg jeans and not flared jeans and do look nice on you in fact I think that’s the best pair of jeans I’ve seen you in everything about them is perfect on you I’m not throwing any shade on you but I know you hate the fact that tighter jeans show off your arthritic knee I have the same problem only both of mine are athritic and swell up something awful and make me really self conscious whereas I find this cut of jeans a godsend I love them the black trousers are the same style and look great on you as well I think it’s well worth paying the money to get them taken up if your mum can’t do it as those trousers never go out of style and if you get fed up with them put them away for a while and bring them back out when that passes
