Some more info for you...Grace was the opening act for the Imagine Dragons on the North American leg of their Evolve world tour..41 gigs in 10 weeks all over USA and into Canada..she also appeared on the late late show with Corden... appeared at the museum at Nashville. This was still in the 10 week period...6 weeks later she was on site for filming Stargirl..another 12 weeks ...she wrote this song while on set...all at 14 years old.....an amazingly talented hard working young lady
She was definitely nervous on agt first time in front of a big audience but now its nothing to her she has had well over 70 performances to date I'm sure someone has mentioned this but she wrote this one while on set for the movie she was 14 at the time. Cant wait for your other reactions on her agt performances they are special. Grace has achieved alot since winning agt despite her label not pushing her onto mainstream radio yet she says she has time and wants to enjoy being a kid first. Her fisr ep perfectly imperfect featured her agt songs and one other original it debuted in dec of 2016 and was the best selling ep that year. Her first full length album just the beginning went to number 9 I believe. Her new ep letters vol I was released in nov not sure how it done. She won billboards rising star award in 2017 youngest artist ever to get that award. She is also on billboards 21 under 21 for four years in a row and Forbes 30 under 30 for music youngest ever on that list. She Is a fender signature artist for the ukelele they made two ukuleles in her name. Long list of achievements for a young kid. Lol did I mention she is also a professional fashion model.
Your in for a wild ride on the Grace train. Things to know, Grace is best consumed live, she rarely sings her songs the same way twice always makes small changes so you know she is singing them and not lip syncing or using autotune, the songs she covers she makes her own and you will see that right from from the first one you hear,She is as nice as she seems in her interviews, her band is great and like a family, and last but not least her fans love her like she's related to them
As you may know, she wrote this about 1 1/2 years ago when she was on the set of Stargirl. It was influences by the movie and is used in the closing credits after the director saw it and heard it.
if i close my eyes i can imagine a singer of any age... like a classic , just like if i hear a good song of the 80... 90's... and she is so humble at the same time
Grace is the complete opposite of what most young girls try to be in the music industry and it's so refreshing to watch her really blaze her own trail. No crazy screaming or vocal runs, just pure, tender, raw emotion. You feel every word. She's really quite good regardless of her age.
I instantly subscribed when I heard more Grace Vanderwaal reactions coming. Thanks for checking her music out. For many of us who followed her since agt, she's one of the greatest artists of this generation, and deserves more recognition. My suggestion for a reaction is her performance of Stray in The Slipper Room or Ur So Beautiful in Trevor Live.
Grace has done so much in four years other than AGT. She is an award winning artist, An actress in her own movie, a model where she just came back from France as a Chenel no.5, model, she writes her own music.this song is as beautiful as it sounds. A true Prodigy no auto tune, that voice is all hers! You are now in Grace's bubble. No escape. Of course you won't want to!!!
Grace is a heart melter! Beautiful, honest and easy to love from the beginning of her career. That part has not changed. You folks said about her performance that you were surprised how far she had come, good reaction! Thanks, OLD PETER U S A
Thanks so much for your Grace reactions. Been following her since seeing her return to AGT a year after winning. I had seen her at the competition and was happy she won but when she came back as a guest a year later I was truly astonished. I personally feel that the song she performed that night actually was a big step in her career. Not only were the lyrics pure genius but the performance was absolutely professional. And also the set design for the stage was her idea. The song is Moonlight and this is the song that got me hooked. I am an old musician and highly respect the true genius of this young lady and if you could, comment on her lyrics on all her songs. Seems like she always has a good message. Anyway, here's the link ruclips.net/video/gObVF1cx7WM/видео.html And of course there's so much more music from her so be ready for alot of requests . This girl has been way underrated but I have the feeling things are about to change for the better. Thanks again from a new subscriber.
Thanks YvesAndDeisi reacts with great reaction. This was one of the most incredible presentations, Today and Tomorrow was a great song composed by the artist during the breaks of filming the first Stargirl movie, she was the protagonist and the song fit like a glove in the plot lived by her character, it's incredible the girl skill. Now, in the Hollywood extension of the movie Stargirl, she wrote another great song, Figure It Out, which I ask you to react to, because it's a beautiful song and it has a lot to do with the movie. "Success always"!!!
She sang an Adele song at Vegas a month or so after AGT and many say it was better than Adele so to say her voice has mature is accurate but you are basing that on one song, she was incredible when she was 12 too. That's her picture of Stargirl that Kimmel is holding up. Yep, she was 12 years old at AGT and 14 years old when she wrote and sang this for the movie Stargirl, 16 years old here for the Kimmel show. Your WOWS are pretty similar to her fans reaction to her, great reaction
original quote from Julia Hart ( Director) I got to hear this beautiful song back in New Mexico when we were shooting Stargirl. Grace wrote it on set. It's gorgeous. She told me "it's okay if you don't like it." I smiled & said I LOVE it & I'd be honored to put it in the movie. twitter.com/juliahartowitz/status/1235711685840613376?s=19
Didn’t I warn you to not get involved with her! You still have time, turn and run away from the light. If you go any further there will be no turning back. As beautiful as this might be to you, there is a universe of Grace out there and you will soon find out just how powerful she is if you don’t heed this warning ⚠️
John Raymond , your comments were cracking me up in the best way. If these reactors just stick to her live TV performances, that would do fine. I listen to it 💯 all of it All the time. Grace VanderWaal is magic &real.
Funny thing is, she's 16 now but wrote it when she was 14 on the set of Stargirl. It took forever for Disney to release the movie. Anyway, two solo tours and opening for Imagine Dragons will make you less nervous. And starring in a Disney movie.
So she's 1ft taller. Stargirl was made 2 yrs ago ..she wrote this song then. Movie was just released 2 weeks ago. She was extremely nervous on AGT she says in interviews. But she's a trooper. She's had 2 tours of her own music. She opened for Imagine Dragons in 2018. Playing arenas in front of people not there to see her. But gained their respect and probably gained fans. Now she's stuck at home like everyone else. Posting some vids of her messing around singing on her guitar and uke. She is an amazing person . with a huge heart. If you were to look into what she does for society you would be like wow.
Yes our miss Grace has about 50 songs out to date. Most are her original songs, with a few cover songs. By the time you get through AGT she will probably have released her next album "Letters vol 2". She would be on tour now except for the "virus" out there.

I like your plan of alternating then and now, showing us the amazing arc she is on. For the next "now" I suggest her "I Don't Like You" on James Corden last November. It will show her amazing range as a writer and as a performer (when compared to the one you just did).
I warned you LOL about Grace, your stuck. The good thing is Grace has a really loyal following she is not nationally syndicated in media or radio, so her exposure is limited. Grace fans will flock to you like moths to a flame. as I am sure you're starting to find out already. We are watching in real time the evolution of a generational talent. Her song writing and composition skills already rival successful songwriters three times her age. all production and video concepts are hers, in front and behind the camera. Let alone her ability tell a story in a simplistic and yet profound way that totally captivates you. She does not bend to industry norms, and does not compromise herself or her music. She is a true independent in the industry. As Simon Cowell once said she is a pioneer in the industry, All this at an age of sixteen, Imagine what she will be at 20, 30,or 40 years of age musically.
Dang Grant bravo again. You are an excellent writer/communicator. You describe things so completely, and eloquently. I hate to type, so I'm just gonna start looking for your comments and just hit the thumbs up button. I'll just be here for back-up. Sound like a good plan? ✌️😎Peace Breezy
I suspect this was not Deisi's cup-of-tea, as she took her focus off the performance to drink a couple of times. When you are engrossed in a performance, you don't think of your thirst. You might miss something important. Not all of Grace's performances work for everybody. Even a die hard FanderWaal such as myself had to listen to some of her performances multiple times before I fell in love with them.
I am looking forward to more reactions from you two about Grace VanderWaal. Please visit VanderVault.org and click on the catalog. In the catalog section there are links to well over a hundred of Grace's originals and covers.
Thanks for the reaction, but if you would please study up on this incredible artist, so you can see that her song writing is not like mainstream garbage, there is no one like her today. Check out her EP, Letters Vol.1, and her movie Stargirl. You won't be disappointed 😁!!
Love your honest and real reactions and happy to see you reacting to more songs of Grace. Just to let you know, Grace has said that she was very nervous on AGT, and she still gets nervous. But with experience she has gotten better at hiding it.
For a look at a much deeper example of Grace VanderWaal's songwriting ability, check out this "Darkness Keeps Chasing Me" from New York City rooftop for MTV. You won't believe the lyrics. For awhile she would not perform this in public because she said it was such a downer but it is heartfelt poetry written when she was 13 years old. If you truly listen closely, you might want to keep tissues close by. If you start reacting to her music, you will have viewers flocking to your website. Just saying. But please don't give shallow reactions. Delve into her background. Such a profoundly gifted individual inmany more areas than music, but music is her specialty. How can you stop such a beautiful and touching original performance? I think it's not, what a musical performance is for. It is simply to enjoy and maybe move, dance, sing and cry with it. Talking? Yes, but please not inbetween. Just my two cents as an artist myself ;)
