Okay hold on now, not to quibble with you Johnny, buy Kyle said that play where Purdy hits Mccaffrey on the busted coverage while he's backpedalling was intentional, not an off schedule play. Kyle said that he knew that if Purdy could keep from getting sacked just long enough, that opening would happen in the field and that throw would be there. He said he was stressed out while watching that play develop at different stages.
Yeah, i saw that. I was going off a playbook thing where we've added that route to another concept where it wasn't in the progression, then saw he said that and went, "dohhhh". It was a game-plan addition.
All this team was missing was a half-way decent qb. Now they have Purdy, who balls out, this team could be a problem for a long, long time. So exciting as a diehard lifelong 9er fan to see the team turn into this monster of a squad! 💍 💍💍💍💍💍
Until they have to pay Purdy the money he deserves, it's just ridiculous how cheap he is...

2:55 -- Watch CMC as he chooses a lane. He dekes to the inside hole and number 21 bites. Then CMC cuts to the outside, 21 gets caught up in the wash, and CMC gains almost 20 extra yards.
If Deebo would've blocked that DB, that's a TD run
I point that out to my kids all the time: CMC is a master at setting up blocks by suckering defenders into where he wants them to go, and then cuts and is gone!

Didn't realize the pylon td pass was an improv, thought Purdy just liked the matchup. Deebo said postgame, they never really know who's gonna get the ball nowadays
What are your thoughts on the hail mary before the half? Kyle should have the offense do more of those 1-2 minute drives imo. Good practice for do or die situations in crunch time

Jonny - while a major fan of Purdy - JT's QB School film breakdown often points out that Purdy seems to turn down open deep throws - even in this game. What do you think of that take? Also JT loathes Deebo's 1/2 effort. lol

After seeing it a few times, I'm starting to think that first Deebo TD was Kyle's passive aggressive way to tell Deebo he needs to put more effort in when he's not the target...
ok, that was a joke, but I've seen Deebo not run full speed on a lot of these. He even said he wasn't at 100% on that TD bomb and had to put it into higher gear when he realized Brock threw the ball to him.
Players say Kyle always talks about all 11 players need to do their job for plays to be successful and you can see the difference when Deebo blocks downfield and when he doesn't.
Maybe Kyle is letting it slide because Deebo does so much anyway that a few plays off aren't a big deal, but if Deebo turns it on for those plays in the post season this offense would go to another level
I was thinking a bit of the same thing. The second I saw Deebo jogging on that motion, I thought it looked strange (because that's one area where he usually does go all-out), and once I saw how the defense left him alone, I figured they did that on purpose playing off the "Deebo always jogs when he's not getting the ball" narrative. I was also thinking after that TD vs. the Seahawks that that play might be the best way to get Deebo to stop loafing sometimes, since it clearly shows him that the ball could go his way on any play. It's still something he needs to work on, for sure, but it did look like he was going all-out on that final TD even though he wasn't in the progression (and sure enough, the ball went his way).
14:21 I love that run by CMC as well. If he tries to bounce it outside at the end, as so many RBs would, #55 was already trying to work free from Banks' block and it probably turns into a holding penalty. Instead, CMC just goes "hey I only need one more yard, I'll just join in the block and push the guy in".
13:19 thx for the vid ! Kyle said in his press it was designed that way (for CMC to be open and intended receiver) but brock needed time in the pocket which he didnt get so he extended the play and make it worked. Great adjustment by brock anyway

My original guess was 42-31 for this game. Not bad. Purdy looked great, the defense looked lost with the 16 miss-tackles. They better clean that up vs. Baltimore.

Could Deebo's "lack of effort" actually be part of Kyle's grand plan? Defenders may ignore him when he jogs, and thus just setting them up for an explosive play later (like in the post season). But you're right, the occasional soft blocking is frustrating to watch.

After the game Deebo said Kyle's plan was to dog the route so the D would ignore him.
I've heard the same thing about Deebo taking plays off on the QB channel.
On this one particular play, maybe. But other times, man, the effort just isn't there. When's the last time you've seen Deebo sprint donwfield to block? Aiyuk is always hustling, Jennings also, Kittle, McCloud, Bell, everyone but Deebo

The fourth qt. TD to Deebo was absolutely unreal. It was so precisely placed that it could possibly be defended and could barely be snagged by Deebo. That and the Dallas collapse should remove all doubt about MVP.

Imagine if Purdy played vs Dallas Schedule this year! Dallas had 170 of their points vs Commanders, Giants and Panthers... and then 20 points total vs Bills and Niners...

Great breakdown on a different strategy employed to stop the best QB in the land. Interesting how often they dropped 8 men into coverage and only while only rushing 3. It is absolutely a crime how even with 3 men rushing, Brendel was destroyed on almost every play. I wonder if he’s hurt because even with my untrained eye, it jumped out to me so, Kyle and kocurek HAVE to see it. Surely we have to have someone that can play better than that. I would think he has to be hurt, there’s no excuses for that level of play if he’s hurt and they didn’t dress a backup for him. It was by far his worst game I’ve seen. There’s no way he gets away the level of play against the Ravens on Monday night. Outside of that, after watching your breakdown and JTO’s it was clear there were throws on deep shots that Brock doesn’t take notably to BA and little on flag routes and I believe there was one that he had Deebo on but didn’t take either. I know he has unbelievable air yard stats but what gives? There’s no other QB in the league that sees the field better than Brock, is this an arm issue or do you just think they’re mistakes?
Great breakdown JD! I know it has to be frustrating with YT de-monetizing your high level work but please keep faith and keep doing what I believe is the best breakdowns on YT. Hopefully that changes soon but if not you’ll continue to receive my dollars. Hopefully it’s a merry Christmas to all of us Niner fans! JD what do you think of the newest way to discredit Purdy: "he's 'meh' because when Deebo, CMC, Trent, Greenlaw, and various on oline were dealing with health issues, Purdy lost, so obviously he can't win without weapons"
I'm pretty sure Tyreek and Kelce didn't miss games for the 2018 season when Mahomes won MVP. So he lost 4 games WITH his weapons and wasn't penalized.
It's crazy that Purdy is the only QB in history that has to win all his games or he's mediocre.

Deebo's effort problem is weird. I mean he's a special player but it sends such a bad message to your teammates, to your fans, to your coaches and everyone. It's a constant problem with him, if he's not getting the ball or THINKS he's not getting the ball, he doesn't care at all.
It's because he's such a big, meaty guy with so much speed. The effort level to move that much mass at the speed that he does is next level. Dude is just tired all the time, so he takes plays off.

Mckivits and Brendal are nauseating to watch. It blows my mind not a single coach thought there was a better player than Mckivits. I can’t stand watching them in pass pro. Scares me every time.

I don't think they are standing in our way, I don't think anybody is. That being said, short of the Silverback, our O-line is probably where we could use the most help. Then again, everybody but Philly, Dallas, and Baltimore seem to be hurting on the O-line

Deebo gets lazy when hes not the primary
Deebo’s lack of effort without the ball in his hands is starting to become an issue. It was also an early play where CMC knew got dinged up where Deebo whiffed on a block and his man made the tackle. Coulda been a big play and CMC was hit hard in the knee. I know they gotta see it in the film sessions
They see it. In fact, Kyle used Deebo's tendency to take plays off to lull the defense to sleep on Deebo's walk-in TD. 😅
An issue? This team hasn't missed a beat and actually has gotten better throughout the year wether deebo goes all in or not
