No one can say that Summer Bird didn't beat Rachael Alexandra because of a muddy track because since the Haskell, Summer Bird has went on to win the Travers and the Jockey Club Gold Cup on tracks that were this bad or even worse in the case of the Travers. She's just a very determined filly that's got blinding speed and refuses to lose.

Jackson says maybe the Travers next. Last filly to win was Lady Rotha in 1915.

I was a non believer -- this was the toughest and award convincing race she has run. Zenyatta will have her hands full.
    Bravo, well done lady.

bring zenyatta to saratoga for the personal ensign at a mile and a quarter on neutral ground!!!

Do all the Zenyatta fans remember 1988? It was the year of Sunday Silence versus Easy Goer. The great "Bald Eagle.," never once hesistated in shipping Sunday Silence to run in the East to face Easy Goer and the result was 3-1 Sunday Silence. Why can't the Mosses and trainer John Shirreffs ship to Churchill Downs in November for either the Clark Handicap or filly race on Thanksgiving weekend and run on natural dirt surface. RACHEL ALL THE WAY!

whatever it was for it looked really awesome lol xD i thought they hit them with the whip to show them to go? or is that something else?

I have seen welts on a horse's haunches caused by a jockey, yeah it totally doesn't hurt them. I have also seen jockeys get pissed off their horse was not running fast enough and hit them in the face, neck and shoulders. It is okay to give them a bit of a tap on the flank but to repeatedly cut into them in the home stretch when they are giving it all they've got is not fair to the animal imo.

Yes, and jockeys who are guilty of inappropriately whipping the horse get suspended, too.

The fact is, RA is the best three year old, hands down. If they want to prove she is the best horse all around, then the Woodward would be the race for both genders and would with out a doubt stamp the horse of the year to the winner!! If Zenyatta shows up. She may have an undefeatted record, but she has never raced the boys and never against a filly who has race the boys and won!!!

if she does not respond quickly enough they will give them a little tap :) I hate when a horse clearly has nothing left and the jock beats the shit out of them though :(

Yeah but your horse has been racing "restricted" company too. Last time I looked she has yet to race the "BOYS" so that makes her restricted too. I like the idea of her going to the Personal Ensign, or the Woodward, the latter would be against the boys again for RA, or the first for Zenyatta. But you know the owners won't bring her for that if RA commits to it.

Nah, but winning 2 Grade 1 races against males in the same year does make her better than Ruffian.
