all my IRL friends do is post stories on Instagram. I post stories too because there's no reason to make an actual Instagram post anymore.
I'm thinking about getting rid of it myself because I don't actually talk to anyone on that app. Even though they're IRL friends, we all been separated and moved on with our lives and the only way we keep up with each other is through these apps. IMO why? it's dumb and I don't care. I don't need to see what date you went on, and I don't need to see what you're eating.

Social media doubled down on short form videos overnight and completely ignored everyone else. I am a photographer, and I immediately became irrelevant because I didn't want to turn my photography into videos. But, that goes for every single person who didn't want to post 3 videos every day. Now, John & Jane Simpleton who just wanted to interact with their friends and a few favorite creators, they're no longer seeing their friends' posts because now their feed is full of video creators and ads.
The everyday, average human beings, are the ones who hold the power to social media. Forcing EVERYONE to participate in short form videos was never going to be a sustainable practice.

lets be honest, You can do everything right on instagram and it doesnt matter because instagram has taken away the ability for the people to make their own decisions about what they want to see. you can have the greatest content on instagram and have factors outside of your control decimate your reach. nothing you did wrong its just simply the algorithm has chosen that its not gonna show content like yours. thats pretty much what it comes down to. a new app needs to be created that is everything instagram used to be before the algorithms. i like the fanbase app personally

    • @mr.bond2023
      @mr.bond2023 6 месяцев назад

@@JMRabil675 that’s lie. Instagram employees literally have a heat up and cool down button. This is documented. Employees have the power to make their friends go viral they also have the power to cool down aka shadow ban people/pages they don’t like. This is a documented fact. It’s also a documented fact that black creators are negatively affected by the algorithms because they are programmed in such a way that minimizes their reach and engagements. Congress literally grilled tik tok about this in a hearing. So you can’t tell me nothing about how I’m wrong about this. You can do literally everything right and have the best content in the world and Instagram whether through janky algorithms, prejudice employees or many currently unknown factors will destroy the reach of your account. The fact that Instagram is an ad revenue based platform makes Instagram a direct competitor to us as creators. It hurts Instagram’s bottom line if you as a creator have a million followers and all your posts get sent to 1 million accounts. That means a company would be better off paying you to reach a million followers rather than paying Instagram for ads. So what Instagram does is kills everyone’s reach so that it is more beneficial for companies to Instagram instead of a creator who has a million followers but they only reach 50,000 out of the million. I can debunk what you are saying from so many different angles. The Instagram algorithm is a joke. It’s a total fraud and they are literally stealing from the user base.

If you still want to use the free version (literally everyone), you have to confirm that your data will be used for these ads 😅 It‘s just a trick to work around regulations in Europe. I miss Instagram being photos, youtube about long form content and tiktok when it was short form and not constant ads. Also, I really needed to hear that whole thing about how you grew slowly over time and built an audience while watching others in your niche grow quickly. That's how I feel like I am now. I am not growing as quickly as other people, but I am steadily growing a consistent audience who is very active on my discord and watches all of my videos and live content. I've been telling my fellow photographers for years: likes and followers don't validate the quality of your work.
There's people who have tens of thousands of followers, who are mediocre photographers. There's spectacular photographers who have only a couple of hundred followers.
As long as you do what you like and create what you like to create, the right audience for you will find you.
Others, much like you described, just put out the content they think people will like to see. Then when it doesn't catch on, they cry about it. When in fact, they should just be honest with themselves and ask if it really is their best work or not.

All the best stuff is just people messing around. I always think of the ninja turtles. The idea is so stupid and the creators were just goofing off. It started as a joke but the property is worth billions now. Same with DragonBall, Akira never took it seriously naming characters after vegetables and making the story up as he went (chapter to chapter) and that became absolutely massive. Things needs to feel organic to resonate with people.

Exactly the same thing when we go to search for something a thought or idea suddenly hits us and we go to find videos or information about it, i've been functioning on the internet like this since 2018 now after some really big let downs my loyalty only became to myself not helping people constantly make views.
I'm subscribed to a small handful of channels but honestly i only regularly watch 3 of them one of them is tasting history with max miller because it's good stuff and interesting i learn something new every time. The rest of the time search for whatever's on my mind each day, sadly i have to remove a lot of them from my watch history after because it doesn't mean i want to regularly watch it and most videos are attached to clickbait but they certainly get multiple views because of how many times i have to edit my comments until they actually get posted and that's probably why they do it so i do enough.
On average i only watch a few videos per day now mostly i listen to music and i don't care about shorts at all and i stay away from animal videos because the more you watch the more it takes over your recommendations which is the same problem with other social media sites. It sometimes tries to get me to watch them but i then click not to recommend the channels or say i don't like it lol as soon as i see it telling me to not recommend a few channels it backs away lol at least i can do that on here but on others i had no choice what showed up on the feed.

I have a gut feeling this is a compounded issue: at 8:14 you can see that 50% of creators are engaging in photography, creative writing, (and from my experience, music and dance as well) and these are areas that historically we never figured out how to efficiently make into a market that is beneficial for both the industry and the individual artists at the same time. We're fixing this plane mid-air.

I will say the hardest thing for social media is seeing those low views when you are a one man show, and do all the hard work yourself. Low views just incentivize everyone to post less. I hate super short form content. I think it's brain rot. Some of it can be informative which is nice but for 90% it's awful. I never wanted short form to come to Instagram and it did, when that happened I knew it was headed to youtube. Now that it's on RUclips, if they start putting ads on short form content I'll be done with it forever I think. I think a lot of people don't mind a meaningful plug, or a 5 second ad before a video. But not 2, 5 second ads back to back before the video even starts, then another unskippable ad at the 1 minute mark, then a few more drizzled throughout and before you know it you've seen at least 6 ads in a 5 minute video. It gets extremely irritating because of the placement and the fact that they're just getting absurdly greedy at this point and I know they aren't paying youtubers enough for it either.

This inspired me to get back to it and continue to create and do my own authentic thing. I’m going to keep going. It’s for other people, really - not for me, at the end of the day. It’s inflation, plane and simple. The “creator economy” was a result of COVID money printing and now that all that stimulus is gone, rent/student loan payment moratoriums are over and prices have jumped upwards of 50% on things like insurance in the last 5 years everyone’s risk tolerance is very low. Companies have less money to spend on ads (if they’re even in business anymore) and crafting a content strategy is impossible when you’re hungry with no food. No one has time for this garbage anymore, and we don’t want to watch people in opulent studios wax philosophically when it takes multiple jobs just to keep the same lifestyle we had less than a decade ago.

I never liked the term creator, I think it's a misunderstanding people have that you need to change for your audience. This makes no sense because your audience is built on your content in the first place.
People look at making videos as a business instead of doing things that are meaningful to them, and if you're only serving algorithm you're not changing or improving the world or educating anybody on anything. Is this the same old same old. And that's how we got here.
There was a time when people shared videos of things that they did themselves or that they were interested in, now it's all video essays on other youtubers. The people are tired of it.
My engagement has steadily grown over the years because I don't just make videos to serve the algorithm.
It becomes an echo chamber of people talking about what other people talked about people talking about and that's why RUclips is so full of garbage now.
If you do what you love and share it with the world, people will come to see. But the idea of making a living or getting rich completely misses the mark of why we make videos in the first place

Like, we might not be at the point where AI can do everything, but it might get to the point where nothing you do, no endeavor you undertake will matter. TikTok's ad revenues are set to hit $17.2 billion in 2024, a 30.7% increase. They currently pay out 3% to creators, and 10% to music rights.
These platforms will adapt to ad free payment models and will pass that payment onto high performing creators.
For your example of a person reporting a bad return on an influencer campaign is irrelevant to the actual performance.
Where they have a good paying audience they can have insane ROI versus any other ad form, but overall it is slightly worse than ad words, social media ads perform close to that for many niches.
People still pay for TV and print ads.

Bro no one's watching 30 minute tiktoks. That's not the platform people go to for long form content.

I've left all social media except for RUclips years ago. I don't care to follow other peoples lives. I'm focusing on living my life.

videos like this are funny because the internet (including everybodies LANs) is just as unknown as the ocean, space and our own human bodies and pretty much everything in life.
Your "social is collasping" can represent literally only two apps out of the internet thats filled with millions of other "social media" apps. There is no such thing as "social media collaspe" because if one app did go offline.....you best believe another will take its place. The internet (your internet experience) is only has small or big as you make it via your curiosity.
Videos like this dont not get the people thinking. They only groom the people into furthur thinking only google/apple/microsoft and a small portion of other apps run our lives (which is never true).
like people please explore the internet more. THERE IS A WHOLE LOT OF COOL, BETTER, INTERESTING, REFRESHING and etc.....apps/websites out their that will out beat any "big tech giant" apps anyday

Short form content, compared with long form content the only goal is popularity and money. Long form brings more detailed overviews of a topic to the creativity and effort of the creator whereas short form is just quick information for the lazy.

we need a credit system where you only get say 300 creadits a month and every time you watch a video you spend a creadit to see it. Each credit could be worth an actual amount of money like $0.10 and it goes directly to the creator when it is spent

Ooh that’s an idea. Even an app that could let me choose 100 videos or a certain amount of hours and that’s that.

YT is becoming more and more garbage these days with “creators” doing anything but: they copy and paste chat gpt/google derived content that you can find yourselves in a minute. Then, they are too lazy to even read it themselves and just use a fake ai voice. Then other “creators” down the line just rip off THAT (already derivative) content, etc. It’s becoming a human centipede of filler and dumb laziness🤦🏻‍♀️

The problem is that people try to make money directly from social media - that’s wrong.
Social media should be only used to get recognition, status, influence power, trust, etc.
And then with this status, you can make money, but being influencer just to make money is so not-worth-it.

That was one of the reasons I quit being an IG „influencer“. There was nothing I had achieved or done other than take pics of myself walking across a street 😂

Its dead internet and AI theres only so many users and people can grind out content impossibly fast. fully optimized content cause even a smart guy like you cant keep up with the algo as quickly as an AI. Its junk content but it takes away from people doing original stuff.
