Great turorial. Clear and coherent. I've never actually understood why my B-reverses wouldn't work sometimes until you explained it. Much appreciation.
Yin-Yanged Gamer Mean neither. I could never get it without the c stick, but with the c stick, it is easy but you can't do that for your neutral special most of the time.
***** Am I the only one here who actually knows who Pksparkxx is? Hello! I hope that you get to see this comment, because I want to thank you for uploading early game play of Smash Bros. I watched every video of yours to see everything I could of Smash Bros.
Honestly, I'm impressed at how clear you were able to make this tutorial. These concepts can seem super-complicated when you're throwing around so many terms, but you really eased us into it. I liked how you explained them at the beginning so the rest of the video is easier to follow. Love the format for this channel, and major respect for the insane amount of research that must go into your videos. I like you.

Viva "IMMATOONLINK" Reverie Wow I did a double take as soon as I noticed who you were, haha. And... of course you smash, your nickname is TOONLINK, after all.
This was exceptionally clear. Very appreciative of that as someone trying to learn all this at seemingly a rapid pace. smash tech is pretty insane to learn.
Your smash vids are the best dude! I knew about b-reversals and how to do them, but not about wavebouncing and I never really got the trick of how to do a b-reversal on a side-special.
***** I'm a Palutena main, but I play Villager and Ganon too. Gonna replace Ganon with Roy if he makes it into the game. I'm not actually that great at smash, I still lose on FG sometimes lol. Part of it might be because I haven't got a gamecube controller adapter yet, using a crappy 3rd party wireless controller.
Thank you very much with those tutorials. Your voice is clear, you show us everything we need to see, the gamecube controller, the normal action, and a slowed version of the action. Thanks to that, professional match become more clear to me, It's more simple for me to understand the way they are playing and how they can be so fast with their characters. I'm looking forward to learn all those technics, and for more tutorials from you. And don't worry if some tutorials seems heavy, it's because you are perfectly clear in what you say that we can practice in the same time we are watching you, and you succesfully made all of this with very short videos, so keep going that way.
+ThatGiambalvoGuy I feel that too sometimes. I can barely do any of this shit. I just focus on my reads and best moves to use in an option to play. It does me alright, but I'd like to get monstrously good one day
You guys just have to stick to it. it might take hours months or even years to get all this stuff down but as long as you have the passion for it and keep on playing you will improve. You guys r newcomers just like me when it comes to smash since we didnt have experience with all these techniques until sm4sh. You have to keep in mind that players who started with melee for example have a much easier time remastering these techniques since they already have experience with the last two titels. l am still not as good as I want to be and still lose from time to time but my love for the game plus the fact that im improving keeps me playing. So trust me guys, as long as you stick to it and keep on playing you will improve!

Hey, this was a really good video, though I'm having trouble getting wavebounces on 3DS. I can do them out of a forward jump inconsistently but that's pretty much it.
Sorry for necroing this old comment, but yeah, the 3DS circle stick is hard to use in general. The circle stick on the new 2DS XL, however, is so much better... Sigh. I could've saved money AND got a better circle stick. 2DS XL coming out was unfair :-(
Well I am a ganon main, and I noticed this doesn't work with wizard foot, and I see in the comments that it doesn't work with links bombs either. Could you make a list of what it does or doesn't work with in the description? Thanks :)
Hey man I know you'll probably never see this but I'm trying to get into competative smash and your tutorials have been helping me learn and improve at the game just wanted to drop a quick thank you.
Now that I've watched this video it occured to me that I have been applying these mechanics before but never really thought of it as something complex or learned. I guess mostly because I never really think of getting better at Smash as "learning" per say but as being more experienced. Either way, thank you for the break down of B-Reversing. It's great to get a deeper understanding of the mechanics that I use.
I think this is the best alternative Sakurai could have given us for wave dashing. It can even be done in the air! Thank you for making this tutorial. I need to learn this ASAP.
I never said this was a brand new thing. I'm just glad there is a useful alternative to wave dashing since its removal. I know this is in Brawl, but I haven't learned the technique yet. I've been focusing more on Melee.
DEADPOOL9AND Well, at least when I RAR in Smash 4, I turn around during a run, jump as fast as possible to retain as much momentum, and then I do whatever I was going to do with that. That doesn't work in Melee?
Great video man, I've watched a few of your other videos and they're all very informative and helpful, I look forward to practicing this shit. Thank you and keep it up bro!
As a Lucario mainer, these techniques are so useful for Lucario's B neutral : the Aurasphere stuns the ennemy and we can finish him with a shield lock so we must learn how to use B-reverse/wavebounce. I learnt B-reverse randomly and it's really effective, but now I'm practicing wavebounce because I think my Lucario would be much stronger with that. Thank you !
Man, I've been Wavebouncing with Pikachu for that thunder attack without really knowing that's what I was doing. Seeing how the aerial reversal sets up mindgames though is something I'll have to consider for my arsenal.
Wow, as a technical zss main, I thank you for this information. I actually have discovered some neat exploits that aren't known to the competitive scene... yet. I plan to make my own videos on them. I have connections with really good players and I'm heavily affiliated with the New York tournament seen. I'm here to make history bro, and that's going to happen when you and I have a little talk.
Ok, time to practice this thoroughly. Since I main kirby, I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to what abilities can do with this tech, so thank you so much :3
I discovered something new(?), and it is the fact that you can now b-stick with the second joystick set to tilts, which makes b-reversing/wave bouncing much easier, plus you can keep your momentum even better with the left stick, I think this has something to do with the buffering system like attack cancels, since tilt c-stick actually carries a bit of a direction input
Thanks for teaching me the #1 mistake I do in regular smash battles. I always make this mistake with Duck Hunt's Wild Gunman attack. B-reversing is my bad habit because it is usually bad timing or I simply do that too often.
You can also do a wavebounce in the same direction you move in, so you can keep your momentum that would normally stop you when using it (ROB's gyro, DH's gunmen, etc). Just jump in a direction and use the move.
Very awesome tutorial. I've been wanting to try some tricks in Smash to get better at dodging and such, and I'll try and put this to use. I play Smash for fun, but it's nice to win every now and then :D
While playing Smash 4 I've noticed that if you run in any direction and then change direction so you do that skidding thing, in the frames before you actually start running again, you can press the shield button and then press the control stick in the direction you were going, and when you do, instead of rolling in that direction, you go the direction you were spinning towards before you started the skid.
Yaaaassss this is great, I knew about most of this but some of this I had no idea about! I've been looking for stuff like this for forever. I would love to see more stuff like this :D Like, could you go over all of the properties of a dash? I've been experimenting, but I can't figure out why some things happen, it's probably some frame perfect shenanigans. But one cool thing that I noticed is that directly after you input a dash, you can do a smash attack, which is super useful.
I could fucking cry. I watched this video like a 5 months ago but did not pay attention to the wavebounce part. And so all that time I was like "How the fuck do they change their direction with their neutral b?! That's so cool! " well now i know how to do it...thank you! :)
with this technique I was finally able to earn the respect and love of my parents
i wish i could do the same
I'm sure they had faith in you all along. It was up to you to own up to it.
And how is that.

leo barragan You guys both sicken and impress me...

All counters cancel and momentum. But we can still dream!
Benjoleo Dash, then jumping, then countering makes them move forward a little but before they land. Not sure if you can reverse the momentum though
Your voice and this video are so soothing and relaxing!

My Smash Corner As a Link main it appears we cannot do B-Reverse bomb pulls, our Down-B special. Why is that?
Am I doing it wrong or is it just not possible? I've actually never seen another Link do it despite how useful it would be.
Doesn't work with Link's down B.
My Smash Corner I see, that's the conclusion on the Link boards as well. Thanks anyways though it doesn't make sense to me why it doesn't work.
AstrayChronicle I'm almost positive it's because he's not able to turn around during the item pull.
so would that mean that peach also can't do it?
Correct.
This kickstarted my interest in smash as a whole back when i was a small boi, i was like 9 and learned how to b reverse and ive been sailing on ever sense, than you so much for this :)
Can you mindgames the fuck out of someone with a falcon punch?
Typo Waht Wavebounce land then turn around falcon punch LOL
Typo Waht pretty sure you cant b-reverse any moves with a auto turnaround (aka 2)
maybe cause that's what your supposed to be inputting already, it just has a developed function and doesn't glitch idk
Jack Strom
Yeah if you can't its sad but funny at the thought of it.
Typo Waht As far as I know, the falcon punch and Ganondorf's warlock punch are the only neutral specials in the game that can't be B-reversed, because they have a special reverse animation that you execute by pressing the control stick after the button.
I can't think of any reason why you couldn't do a turnaround falcon punch, though.
Tim Barich but if you jump and do it itll do the same thing as a b-reverse wich is turnig you around while switching your arial momentium
dude you are my savior for advancing my skill...thank you for breaking down these techniques an making them understandable
Hey, this was a really good video, though I'm having trouble getting wavebounces on 3DS. I can do them out of a forward jump inconsistently but that's pretty much it.

He should since Kirby is on his profile pic

These videos are so great, going to practice with Pit's arrows tomorrow c:
Great tutorial, definetly one of the best b reversal videos ive seen.

man I have to thank I used to always be ninth at my local tournemants but with all your technique videos I place top3
Finally, a good guide! Everyone else was so vague about it. Thanks!
I think this is the best alternative Sakurai could have given us for wave dashing. It can even be done in the air! Thank you for making this tutorial. I need to learn this ASAP.
They're actually not new mechanics. These two techniques, as well as RaR, are in Brawl.
***** Wait can't you simply RaR in every game? It's simply turning around and jumping, it's not even difficult
I never said this was a brand new thing. I'm just glad there is a useful alternative to wave dashing since its removal. I know this is in Brawl, but I haven't learned the technique yet. I've been focusing more on Melee.
Aureo ThaMaster You can't rar in melee, when you jump you aren't facing the opposite direction.
DEADPOOL9AND Well, at least when I RAR in Smash 4, I turn around during a run, jump as fast as possible to retain as much momentum, and then I do whatever I was going to do with that. That doesn't work in Melee?
Dude this tut was awesome!!! Keep up the good work!!!
I love B-Reversing, if only because it's the only advanced move I can do consistently, but it looks like I'll have to start practicing Wave-bouncing.
I've been playing with DK lately and let me tell you is b reversed punch catches so many people off guard.
Great video man, I've watched a few of your other videos and they're all very informative and helpful, I look forward to practicing this shit. Thank you and keep it up bro!
This is super helpful, and I really hope this tech catches on.
This is what will keep me from ever becoming truly great at this game.

As a Lucario mainer, these techniques are so useful for Lucario's B neutral : the Aurasphere stuns the ennemy and we can finish him with a shield lock so we must learn how to use B-reverse/wavebounce.

Ok, time to practice this thoroughly. Since I main kirby, I'm DEFINITELY looking forward to what abilities can do with this tech, so thank you so much :3
Thanks! B-Reversel looks so funny with Duck hunt's trickshot
Ever since I incorporate B-Reversing with Yoshi, it became muscle memory to me so much that I will perform it without even thinking about it.
I love B-Reversing Mewtwo's fully charged Shadow Ball as a recovery option, it sends him flying a huge distance (you have to be up high though)
Man, i looking 4 this technique so long, and now, i can study this at last
Thanx a lot!!!
OMG THANK YOU, My Smash Corner .
I always thought I wavebounced wrong :p
This is what is going Lucas hopefully good in this game. His horizontal recovery though :3
Well I discovered b reverses and wavebounces with lucas' down B, and this video explain clearly why it didn't always work
Big thanks dude
I discovered something new(?), and it is the fact that you can now b-stick with the second joystick set to tilts, which makes b-reversing/wave bouncing much easier, plus you can keep your momentum even better with the left stick, I think this has something to do with the buffering system like attack cancels, since tilt c-stick actually carries a bit of a direction input
I never realized how elegant ZSS' jump is lol. Guess it's no surprise though watching her jumps in the power suits.
Thanks for teaching me the #1 mistake I do in regular smash battles. I always make this mistake with Duck Hunt's Wild Gunman attack. B-reversing is my bad habit because it is usually bad timing or I simply do that too often.
I can only imagine the cape shenanigans you can pull with this tech.
This technique makes life so much easier in ssb4 I love throwing people off with a wave bounce.
Your tutorials are awesome. It's helped me become a better player lol
My god that diddy tech looks so godlike.
Thank you for making this video,it will sure help me alot, keep up the good work!
You did a great job, thank you! I'm a Yoshi main and want to get that licky-lick all slicky-slick
THANKS man i was about to search this and then i saw this.
You can also do a wavebounce in the same direction you move in, so you can keep your momentum that would normally stop you when using it (ROB's gyro, DH's gunmen, etc). Just jump in a direction and use the move.
Great Video! I know how to B-Reverse Butter now I can Wavebouncing. Thanks man!
Slowly, slowly, we'll find this game to truly be like Melee.
THANK YOU for getting my terminology straight!
tight inputs dayum wavebounce
Absolutely crucial to mastering Lucas's neutral.
Very awesome tutorial. I've been wanting to try some tricks in Smash to get better at dodging and such, and I'll try and put this to use. I play Smash for fun, but it's nice to win every now and then :D
Thx for this vid, I only knew of B-reverse, didn't know about the others.
This is really useful for DK I use it so much.
I would love to see more stuff like this :D
Like, could you go over all of the properties of a dash? I've been experimenting, but I can't figure out why some things happen, it's probably some frame perfect shenanigans. But one cool thing that I noticed is that directly after you input a dash, you can do a smash attack, which is super useful.
I could fucking cry. I watched this video like a 5 months ago but did not pay attention to the wavebounce part. And so all that time I was like "How the fuck do they change their direction with their neutral b?! That's so cool! " well now i know how to do it...thank you! :)
