- Check out the latest innovation from Pella - the Steady Set window installation system! In this video, Matt Risinger showcases the revolutionary features of this new system, including a safer and faster installation process. Watch as Tim and his team demonstrate the installation of second-floor windows using the Steady Set system.
One of the standout features of this system is the innovative flashing design, which ensures a watertight and airtight seal. Matt highlights the ease of installation from the inside, thanks to features like the flip and click bracket and pre-installed sill shims.
The video also covers other key components of the Steady Set system, such as the shim guide and head stabilizers, which simplify the installation process and eliminate the need for a second installer. Matt emphasizes the importance of these features in ensuring a secure and efficient installation.
Overall, the Steady Set system offers a significant improvement over traditional window installation methods, providing a safer, faster, and more reliable option. Stay tuned to the Build Show for more innovative construction solutions like this!

Id like to thank Pella for all the work fixing their rotten windows over the year's
Very nice, but since sooooo many window installs are not on new construction, I really wish you'd do an episode on replacement window options and innovations!!!
pella wanted like 14K for 6 windows........what a joke.
@@laloajuria4678 seems about on par with any other window out there.
I like that idea. Let me work on that
@@laloajuria4678details pls? Size, material, type?

ohhhh yeah these are a game changer. Faster AND a Safer install? Pella for the Win! 💪
Yes indeed! Thanks Studpack guys!

As a guy who has been up the ladder holding the window from the outside, these windows seem like a nice innovation.
on the other hand, at the end I still see a guy up a 20-ft ladder screwin' around with flashing of some kind so it's not exactly a risk-free install. Better, but not perfect.
Now you're out of a job!
@@pcatful Haha. I never thought of it that way. Still plenty of ways to get injured or dead while framing.
About time they redesigned how windows are installed. I don't know how many times I almost got caught by window putting a window in on a 2nd floor structure 👏👏👏👏👏
as a guy who worked solo most of my career i can appreciate this kind of thing & first comment think that might be a first as well lol
I’ve never been a Pella window fan. I’ve fixed or replaced too many on the job. This is a nice set up. ❤
All of Matt’s videos are informative and entertaining but for a guy who just replaced all his final windows over 5 years the vinyl are all this pauper could afford even for my 900 sq. ft. house! But this is why there are Bugattis and Fords!
I use plumber strapping screwed to the top of the window frame and bend it to stop the window from falling out and secur le it with a screw or tack it with a nail.
What a great product. Australian windows could defiantly benefit from this.
You can buy those clips after Market put them on windows yourself if the retrofit and don’t have a nail on flange. You can also buy those clips to install prehung doors. They work great. Been around for a long time maybe 10-15 years.
Where? I’ve never seen those so can you provide a retailer or manufacturers info? Thanks much
I’ve never seen anything for windows
Wow, those are NICE!
Very nice innovation!👍
excellent idea, all others need to do this
Awesome innovation, Pella did a great job! ... Really cool Matt! 😃👍🏼👊🏼
Thanks 👍
In Britain we've been installing windows from the inside for over 20years.
I really like how they considered worker safety!
Any chance those brackets would be in the way for drywall or trim installation?
This was my thought. Matt usually pays close attention to those details or has his guys groove out the framing for brackets. How will trim sit over them?
Great question. I’ve got these on my The Risinger Build so let me look into that when I do my mock-up wall. I’ll report back
Bella should provide a router template to make the clips counter sunk into the wood
just searched them up. there's a location in toronto. prob going to buy my windows for the next project from them. thanks
Just set windows yesterday and today. And was wishing I could install from the inside! Older home with pier and beam so raised up quite a bit. I’m in desert sw so it’s not common only the old neighborhoods. Plus we had very windy days last couple weeks. Wasn’t going to do windows/ladders with our insane windows.
What a winner! Thanks for sharing.
Tim needs a ladder just to get a glass out of his kitchen cabinet…. 😂
Very nice
Dang this is dope!!!!
Very cool
does this make a future window removal and install a PITA because it is nailed on the inside instead of out?
Will this work for window replacement on existing house? Will there be a “replacement” version?
lmfao that shot of you with your mouth open like that in the thumbnail. hilarious looking.
If the flexible flashing is ripped can it be replaced or repaired?
Awsome more bups on the level 5 smooth walls more work for drywall and taping.
Wow I just got my quote on windows from Pella. Will make sure to ask for the “Steady Set” Thanks for posting another great video
Fantastic!
Easy install. Wonder what reinstalling a damaged window/frame with the same type would involve. Would you have to dig out the clips from drywall, or is there a way to disengage the clips from the outside and clip the new one into the same clips? If the second, would that also mean you wouldn't need to touch the trimming on the inside to reinstall the window?
you'd have to completely remove both the interior and exterior trim.
Pella has stepped up their game. Nice to see, When I was installing full time, we hated Pella quality. They were as flimsy as Jeld Wen depot specials. We did noise remedy in Seattle and have a couple thousand homes and 10's of thousands under our belt. These would have completely changed time per install by hundreds of hours.
what makes you think these are any different quality than the others? they are just a different gimmick.
"Yo it's ya boy Matt back again with another booomber tool review"
tool?
Do you think those brackets might make replacing or changing windows in the future more difficult?
Great question. If it’s a drywall return then it would be more difficult. For a trimmed window it would be straightforward. Pop the trim and unscrew the window from the jamb.
@@buildshow Thanks! Love your content!
I favor European windows where I can install the relatively light weight frame first and then insert the heavy sash.
Should have showed the outside part of the install in more detail.
How do you adjust for the window's exterior projection beyond the sheathing to accommodate various exterior finishes such as siding, stone, brick, etc? It appears the preinstalled exterior flashing has a set depth behind the window face.
he said you order them for the wall thickness.
@@kenbrown2808 I thought he was saying the wall thickness order is for the bracket depth to accommodate the indoor sill mount depth to the framing. I am asking about the exterior face of the window frame relative to the exterior finish.
@@polobbie you order the window for the thickness of the WHOLE wall. he did say there is a variable bracket you can order if you don't know how thick your exterior finish will be. but it's kind of poor planning to order your windows before you know how your walls will be put together.
in Ontario ladder work is banned, zoom boom or equivalent is the norm now
Curious, why all fixed windows? Do they sell this same system for dbl hungs, casements etc?
So many people are going with casement windows now. Not double hungs. Those appear to be crank outs. Eliminating the frame of each sash around eye level. Those are taller than your average house, so a dbl hung might be hard to latch, or get the top sash pushed up. ... I was curious about using them on dbl hungs. How would you adjust the frame/jamb for correct window operation?
So no need to caulk the outside? Or does that go on before yiu fold the fin out?
looks like they are relying on mastic tape for their weather seal.
what windows is this system available
How can I contact you about a leaking hurricane window in a concrete to block wall?
What's the best R value in this line? If they can hit 5, would be on the next project
I suspect their triple glazing line would be sub .20 Ufactor. I ordered some for my project I’m calling The Risinger Build so I’ll see those in about 3weeks
I am a fan of the J channel on my Andersen windows. Pella has had way too much trouble in the past trying to market them as a PREMIUM product. They arent. I bet you didn't put them in YOUR new house Matt..
I’ve always felt better plumbing or leveling on side and then cross measuring for square. Plumbing and leveling leaves a lot of room for error. Other than that looks like a dream compared to working off a ladder.
when I did mine, I leveled the base, then put the window in.
How would this work if my walls are 14in. thick and I’m setting the window 1/2 way into the wall??
it doesn’t
What windows were they installing? Painted white or is that PVC?
I'm sure those were painted. Pella does make a vinyl window, but they look like every other vinyl window.
@@kenbrown2808 from Pella
The windows in the video are Pella Lifestyle series wood/clad, with painted white interior and black aluminum exterior with the steady set system.
Also, not available currently, despite what @buildshow says
It appears that none of these windows open. How about European style twist & flip windows?
These were fixed and out swing casement
I dont know about it. Just install the frame and put in the glass. It works just as good imo.
What kind of cost for this type of window? I am building my house now and need windows
I sell triple pane Canadian fiberglass windows and doors, can ship nationwide. Happy to give you a quote if you're interested.
I install Fenplast windows in Canada. Unless it’s absolutely necessary, we always install from inside. Our windows have similar clips, only smaller and they must be screwed. We always work in pairs, because it’s much safer. I don’t like advertising that this 30x80 ? window is a one man job, because someone who doesn’t quite have the experience will do this and struggle or get injured.
yeah, a 70 pound window is not a one man lift.
i noticed none of your windows were openable… is this a trend you’re seeing more and more of? are people preferring more hvac breeze over natural outside-in airflow breeze?
Some bigger windows we'd use to have 2 guys on a the skytrak forks and 1 inside for typical installs...cost per hour was substantial
Not sure what is so new here. Few weeks back Andersen widows did an install for me and a single guy set all the windows except one by himself. (One that he didn't was 84" by 84" picture, just too heavy for a single person).
Turning his back on that window gives me heart problems.
Nice design.
thanks Matt good info, now take care of that turkey neck before hunting season, just joking, @73 I've got that and 3 chines lol
Easy there big fella
we've done this in europe for decades, finally the US seems to slowly move with us LOL
I’m from europe and i’ve never seen a system like this with the pop out flashing…
Well the USA is fantastic at just getting by and charging the very most for the very least . Biggest example is in our food in USA we lead all Developed countries in the decline of the average life span
There is nothing in Europe like this. Euro installs from the inside have been for lack of the nailing fin.
Found the boastful german again
@@TheRayDog, I think he means installing from the inside? I just replaced a few windows in my renovation, and I even had a long fixed one (even a bit narrower), as they showed here, and I could install it on my own. The system I had to use was even better because I could put those brackets wherever possible. There are rails all around the aluminum frame, and you twist the brackets into place. With some clamps, I keep it temporarily in place and then screw the brackets into the brick wall. P.S. I'm from Belgium.
Maybe if Pella made better windows.... These seem like installation improvements anyway.
This window system…WITHOUT AN UPCHARGE?
👍👍😎✌️🤟

So goofy to see you do the mouth open RUclips thumbnail thing, lol
You know why these manufacturers are making these easier and safer to install, it’s to get the “DIY’rs” they will gladly push the tradesmen out of the way to increase sales & when it fails due to being installed improperly they will just sell another.
@@gabrielaburton-rodriguez5140 the big tell if you can get them at Home Depot, Lowe’s or any other “Home Center” they are looking to sell to the DYIers. Don’t be surprised when the skilled trades (carpenter, plumber) are gone but most places have the requirement for a licensed electrician. But I’ve only been in the trade 30 years so I have know clue what I’m talking about.
Don't🚫forget🧠 to clip it❗yikes
This only works with small windows. 2nd story sliders, no way. Stairs also limit the size you can carry from the inside. Cool invention, but not worth the added expense especially if you already have large windows that will require exterior install
Lol the Indian music
However, these windows do not have the tilt and open function like the European windows
New? European tilt/turn windows have always been installed from the inside... USA as always lagging behind Europe by decades when it comes to building technology :(
I admit, I was hoping it was going to be a rediculous insulation value.
Nothing special or proprietary about this whatsoever, except the exorbitant cost. Brick clips have been around for decades and decades ✅. 1/4" spacer on bottom, free with a piece scrap ✅ still need to go up on ladder and flash and caulk,trim.✅. If you can't figure out how to tack a scrap or a piece of strap to hold a window from falling inside or out, you need to get another job because I don't think you could build a snowball. When pella makes one that drops in and flashes and trims itself with no climbing that would be revolutionary. This is nothing but a gimmick using technology that we already use for waaayyyy more money and not fixing the issue which is the risk and time of the outside work at height.
This is a slick system, but from a value vs performance standpoint, i would start away from Pella. Matt, have you seen DenCo windows? European windows at domestic prices.
My Pella window leaked, my friend’s Pella window leaked… no thanks.
What’s is in Europe in 20 years in us is new hehe so funny how us in innovation is behind.
The only innovation coming out of Europe is in taxation.
One man install takes twice as long. There is no labor savings if you still have to go outside and tape the window. I don’t see anything wrong but it’s no great advancement IMHO.
Dunno, still have to be outside to flash, ensure a straight window frame etc.. saves the time it takes to get one nail in I suppose.
Don’t need to carry the thing up a ladder,
No Holding it in while liable to falling out,
Flashing is sorted.
Pretty big win imho
@@FreekHoekstra we pass the window through the opening. And if it's massive we have a telehandler..
@MrBaconis Now that telehandler isn't needed. And/or fewer installers. If you're a laborer, no big deal, but if you're the contractor, this is a labor & money saver. If you're a solo installer, this is HUGE.
I wouldn't use a Pella on anything I cared about
Better of just putting in bars of gold for the price they want.
Great accessories, but Pella windows suck for R-value.
No window is rated for R value. U value is used to rate insulation value of a window.
And all windows suck compared to walls anyways xD
Plum Granny!!
Great concept, too bad Pella is a crappy company to deal with. I wouldn't put thier crap in a dog house!
Half the work? Maybe.
A twice the price? Definitely.
Ugh. Read the reviews on Pella - not good long term.
If it was a good, high performance window that guy couldn't put it in by himself because of weight.
nothing new. Same windows have been in Europe for more than 20 years. and most importantly, it’s at least two times cheaper than in the USA.😂😂😂
Hahaha.
Ill be honest these are alot of nice but unnecessary add-ons
Pella is a swear word in my region. haven't been on a single job where they didn't have callbacks trying to get them to stop leaking. these, with their tiny flange don't look any better. they remind me of flangeless remodel windows, where the water starts blowing through the gaps as soon as the caulking starts to get old.
With 40 years of construction experience. Find it extremely irresponsible of you to suggest anyone install windows alone. I've unubscribed today!
Im a Carpenter and i ha e installed many windows by myself.
Music sucks.
“We”. That’s funny because you do nothing so who is we ,the other two guys on the job?
rehash from the other day.....
"The first of it is kind" - thumbnail needs a grammar update. It's its, not it is.
Pella is just driving up the price of building a house. Go ride through west Nashville, hundreds of homeless people living in absolute squalor, just so you can build a house at 300 dollars a square foot. Either you don't care about how you are driving up the price of housing or maybe its some kind of ego trip. Just sad all the way around.
