  • A Modern Nymph pattern that also acts as a Lure pattern. Its an imitation of the larval stage of the Damsel Fly, a large Electric Blue Dragonfly, normally seen in its adult form during the summer months.
This variant is a modern iteration utilising a subtle amount of Blue Tinsel in the tail which is where its name comes from. It is a fairly new variant proving popular on Rainbow Trout stillwaters.
It is best fished on an Intermediate or Sinking Line and fished at varied depths and retrieves until a fish takes. Normally faster retrieves work best, closely imitating the natural as it swims towards bankside vegetation, where it climbs out of the water and metamorphoses to its Adult form.
This particular pattern has been tied small and could be further reduced in size to fish competitions, but I have tied it small for fishing stillwaters during the Winter months. Normally they are tied on size 8, 10 or 12 Longshank Lure Hooks and have much longer Marabou tails. Weight can be added for extra depth if required.
