I've just discovered your videos and at exactly the right time! I'm a 68 year old woman who has decided I need to get moving and I've been looking for the right video to move to. It has to be fun and rhythmic, the teacher has to be energetic and enthusiastic and happy. I've looked at soooo many and something was always missing.....until now. You check all the boxes for me! I first watched your "clock" lesson and knew immediately that I had found my teacher. Thank you.
Qui tombe bien, je vous suis depuis Haïti, toutes mes félicitations ! Je pense que j'apprendrai facilement gråce à vos vidéos. Thanks a lot sister and bro !!!
In an Afro Cuban dance lesson I once took the warm up involved such body part isolation movements and, though they look easy enough, they are hard to do to a rhythm dictating speed of motion of just that body part and nothing else. It takes mental control and isolating just your chest feels almost impossible to do but it does come with practice. When you can do all these isolations, your body is no longer so western rigid, upright, as we are trained to walk, stand etc eg in classical ballet, in schools etc. The tension in your body disappears and it feels so loose and free. This must be emotionally as well as physically healthy. No wonder humans dance to release anger, frustration or express sadness and grief, love, sexuality or even their love of whatever God they worship religiously or to connect to nature we humans are a part of. It is the old st art form in existence, along with h singing and chanting and there is evidence in cave art that even ancient caveman did it to improve their chances of a good hunt or whatever. Right now, in Australia, along the badly flooded East Coast, what we really need so desperately is people to all start doing a dance to stop the rain. And punish whoever did rain dances to start all this rain and flooding.... Throw in a bit of magic to help it along...
I love how she simplifies each step. Awesome instructor!
