Top to bottom, you count the squares.
And I think the single light at the very top is for a.m.
+Maple Syrup There are three boxes, each with a different color of light. You count the number of lights that are on in each box. The top box is hours, the next is tens of minutes, and the last is minutes. So, if the top box has 7 lights, the next has 4, and the last has 6; then it's 7:46. The red light at the top seems to signify am, and turn off for pm. Also, if the top box has no lights, that would be 12 (noon or midnight).

How is it amazing? Are we handing out awards just for coming out as a Christian now? It is good that he at least mentions it.
right. good job for believing in a fairy tale you are so brave for defending something you have no proof of. how scientific! i love destin but i will never understand the christian scientist philosophy. how could you believe in something that is challenged everyday in what you love doing and have put all of your time and motivation into. i don't care about destin though, he isnt like the super fundamental young earth christians. i like to think of him as a progressive christian that incorporates his faith into what he does but he doesnt talk about it and preach like some other christian scientists i have seen/heard.
It's called compartmentalization. It's where god belief and faith is kept in a separate compartment free from the scrutiny and skepticism applied to everything else. He's not a fundamentalist Christian though which keeps him out of the irrational camp.

I thought about your comments on your faith - I don't often hear subtle ideas about Christian religion from people I intellectually respect, but I've seen enough of your work to know that you don't speak lightly about things you haven't seriously considered. Also, your respect for your wife is really admirable; lots of men in comparable circumstances don't appreciate how much of the work in the family is unpaid emotional labor. I absolutely agree, if you truly believe in the scientific method than you will see God's creation declaring his glory. a lot of people think that Christianity and science fight against each other,but that's not true, there's a HUGE difference between evolution and science, one is fact the other is a fantastic fantasy almost are ridiculous as the flat earth theory. why do people believe it? if you base your opinions off of cold hard facts evolution is not an option.

Thanks Dustin I think your definition of Fatherhood is really profound and extends to spiritual Fatherhood too. I hope I still remember it by the time I become a dad and that I can apply the principle to my disciples.
I agree that one does not need to throw his brain, logic, or reason out the door in order to believe in a God who created the Universe and loves us. I like a quote from Galileo when they tried him for saying the Earth goes around Sun instead of the opposite: "I do not believe that the God of the Bible who created the mind and logic intended for us to forgo it's use."
Thanks for your vidoes that helps me and others become smarter every day and thanks for tieing it in with Scripture and a Christian worldview.

+mrcompisawesome It is true that in this instance wife would be the appropriate word to use since this is the way Destin himself refers to her in the videos, but actually I really quite like the word partner to describe a significant other. It's ambiguous enough that it doesn't specify the gender or legal status of the individual: two (or more) people in a romantic relationship, whether they're living together or not, whether they've had a civil partnership or a Christian wedding or are engaged or whatever else. A good balance of discreet and descriptive.

+InDeepPudding Religion is inherently a personal thing. If he wants to keep it to himself and gloss over the details when discussing it in videos, then so be it.
+InDeepPudding Faith is something that I personally don't understand in the slightest but it is pretty clear that Destin doesn't have any beliefs or ideologies set in stone that stop him form seeking truth (or recognising truths) and therefore keeps getting smarter every day :)
Not sure how him being religious should affect you in any way, but ok.
+InDeepPudding I would imagine he is more of a deistic than a theistic. Deism currently does follow and is compatible with pretty much all mainstream scientific theories, very unlike theism in general and the biblical religions especially.

I'm both glad you're open about your Christianity and glad you arrived at you're beliefs reasonably. Blind faith is good too but I don't see any reason somebody can't be logical and have faith. You're a great example.
logic and faith are polar opposites. the seperation of church and state proves that. he would be a great example but he isnt since he didnt explain how he can feasibly believe in god while relying on the scientific method for logic. just like all theists, its a matter of turning a blind eye when it comes to faith. its a psychological thing.

Could you please explain how you know the Scientific method is true?
The Scientific method, like its name suggests, is the method to do Science not Philosophy or History or Theology. God's (atleast the Judeo-Christian version of God) existence is a Philosophical question not a Scientific question. In case you didn't know, SCIENCE IS THE STUDY OF OUR MATERIAL UNIVERSE not THE STUDY OF EVERYTHING THAT EXISTS. Scientific method is only compatible for Scientific questions such as what is gravity or why does Earth revolve around the Sun. Also, Scientific method can't explain every single questions about our material Universe either. For example, you cannot use the Scientific method to PROVE that the big bang happened since the Big Bang is something that you cannot recreate in a lab. Scientific method is not meant for Historical, Philosophical and Theological purposes.
You cannot prove Scientific method with Scientific method since 1) it would be circular reasoning 2) it's Philosophy not any materialistic thing
There are very good Philosophical arguments for the existence of God such as Aquinas' give proofs(if you don't want to straw man his Arguments, please check out CLASSICAL THEIST's or COUNSEL OF TRENT's or PINTS WITH AQUINAS' videos on the Five Proofs)

Destin, like you, I find that my faith in Jesus is the perfect compliment to science and reason! To me, they are so intertwined that I cannot separate them. My faith is constantly confirmed by science and logic, and my faith makes science clearer. I have said this before, I appreciate your witness demonstrating that both faith and science are compatible.
I am extremely interested in how Destin is able to reconcile rational critical thinking with religious beliefs (especially, for one particular confession). Usually when people say it is possible, they never seem to be able to argue the point. So I dismiss these claims wholeheartedly. However, Destin is Destin, and I am giving him benefit of the doubt. Maybe I will learn something new about religion.

+Sergey Antopolsky The percentage of U.S. scientists who claim to be Christian is nearly identical to the percentage of people overall. Check out the books "A Case for Christ" and "Mere Christianity" to see how critical thinking led 2 atheists to a relationship with their creator.
***** Christianity in itself isn't a religion. A religion tells you to do certain things to receive something or to be a better person. Jesus did something for you, he died for your sins, so you can live with Him in eternity. This is what Christians believe in and this is what makes them different to other religions.
+ropisfun as I said, religions want you to do something, whilst Jesus preached love and forgiveness. a christian doesn't need to do certain things to get into heaven, since Jesus already did everything for him.
I'm pretty new to your stuff, but gotta say, it was a great thing to find this "oldy". Love your inquisitive nature and, most of all, the fact that you're a very real person with unmatched intellectual honesty.

+רותם ירחי Rotem, it's actually pretty simple. There are 4 groups of lights, each represents a digit of the time. At 11:10 in the video, you can see the groups are lit up with 0 lights in the top, next 7, then 3, and last group has 5 lights on. The sequence 0735 represents 07:35 (presumably P.M.).
