I love Tatu, but i also understand that their voices, especially Julias, were highly altered during recordings. Even during their prime they were not that great live. But thats not what people came to see was it? Julia was never that great of a singer, contrary to what she says. I always considered Lena the better singer, but most people will say Julia was superior because her vocals were more prominent in their popular songs. If you look at the second and third albums, Lena sings the lead in most of the songs. But most folks only remember their first album where Julias sings the lead in all songs. Again, i love Tatu. But yeah....

It's a combination of aging, poor vocal habits (very common among pop singers whereas Opera singers typically don't have this problem) that can lead to surgeries to remove a growth in the throat though in yulia's case-the growth was cancer and not training and resting her voice correctly after surgery.

She didn’t had throat cancer tho. She had cancer in her thyroid and the procedure to removed it damaged the nerves in her vocal chords.
