Hekireki - Taiko Center of the Pacific Youth Group

"青天の霹靂" - Seiten no Hekireki , or "Hekireki" for short, is an original composition by the Taiko Center of the Pacific Youth Group based in Honolulu, Hawaii. The group ranges in age from 8-17 and is under the directorship of Brock Asato. "Seiten" means "sunny day" in Japanese and "Hekireki" means "rainy day." When put together, it represents the ups and downs or unexpected occurrences in life, just like our group. Still, our group carries on and our love of Taiko keeps us together.
This performance was part of the 雨 - AME, Tears of the Earth virtual live-stream concert broadcast from the historic Hawaii Theatre on May 22, 2021.
