My ex boyfriend was a film major, and I can guarantee this is 100% accurate. One time he actually made me watch a whole movie without sound "to better appreciate the cinematography" I don't think I have to explain why I'm no longer dating him
I think we all have flaws, but If there is common life plan and sex is good we stay together :) so please explain "why" If You are so open about your intimate relations with men...
I am an actor and have encountered people like this while doing student films. However, the most insufferable people are theater people. It's like this but also show tunes! I love film and acting, it sucks that asshats like these make the whole career path look bad
empbac Unfortunately it's not a joke, it's an inside reality. LA is like that and film school anywhere is like that. I was in a club where this dude starts talking to me for 20 minutes straight about his production idea and how big of a producer he is. I don't remember how the hell that conversation started or why he felt the need to tell me. There was no ending I just remember waiting for him to take a breath so I could get out of the conversation. In school everyone knows that one guy you don't want to get in a conversation with like this.
Maddie Baillio so true.. and i live in Midwest.. anyone who loves film or remotely involved in any way (podcast, blog, etc etc) totally understands this.. hilarious!! 😂
Especially in Hollywood. I'm about 20-25 minutes outside of Hollywood and most people are not like this at all but the closer you get to Hollywood the worse it gets. I worked on Hollywood Blvd and the average person you see waiting tables, car valet, or retail customer service thinks he's gonna be the next big thing.
As somebody in film school I will be the first to say that EVERYONE is like this. Even the professors. I watch this SNL clip at least twice a month to keep me from detaching from the rest of the world.
I never could watch psychological thrillers like these because I was too scared that it would happen to me one day...but then one day on my way to college, on the bus, this man sat next to me and talked the whole 45 minutes about video games and I don't even play video games. Luckily I passes the curse on by never riding the bus ever again. Scariest day of my life.
I met an aspiring film maker in college who went into great detail about a project he had planned. I really mean "great detail". We only talked before class for about 10 minutes each time, so it took him more half a semester to describe the whole story and after that he started to go over it again explaining how he would film specific scenes. Thankfully, the semester eventually ended and I never saw this guy again.
Shit Follows isn't scary...film nerds who tell you the stop motion animation in Jason & the Argonauts is better than anything Weta or Laika do now are friggin' terrifying!
Purple Turtle a guy in the movie hired a sex worker, but it didn't help for long. Like the people who don't know that they are cursed don't stand a chance, even if they have sex every day.
When you realize you were once a Conor Admit.... You've had that same conversation with someone at one point in college...or when you were drunk and told your friends you should all make a podcast or movie... Or open up a sports bar.... You were once a Conor
the precarious age when you know some things but are too stupid to realize how the real world works yet and think only you know how to fix it. we've all been there.
Gremblo my name is Connor and I’m a film student/aspiring filmmaker. That said, I don’t ever want to be like that guy in the skit! Jesus, that made me cringe!
Last week I met a guy in a concert, who just kept talking about his singing, how bad the concert is for like 30 min until I ask him, "Hey my phone is dead, can I call home from yours?" He said, "I don't have balance, sorry." And that was it, he turned back and stopped talking.
Heidi Gardner came on the show a year after her and has been in twice as many skits. Not taking anything away from Heidi, she's incredibly talented as well.
Thats how the talk went when reality tv was new in the mtv era in the 90s. This is mtvs REAL LIFE, so revolutionary, and now everyone are sick of it (anyone with a brain, the rest still watch the bachelor)
When Mooney was first talking about what was wrong with films, I started to hope they might sneak a "Brigsby Bear" reference in. That film was very atypical and just a really engaging hour and a half.
@@d.dedrick7991 OK, here's the thing, Seinfeld was about "nothing" but it was built around interesting characters and situations. It wasn't just "nothing" and pointless.
As an aspiring filmmaker myself, I hate it when people say shit like this. First of all, people watch movies to be entertained, and second, no one cares about original ideas if the end result is a dumpster fire of a film
You know what? It's not funny, cause I was cursed like that. ))) One guy introduced me to a guy from USA (I'm from Ukraine) who wanted to play DnD-like RPG, about 3 years ago. This guy might write 20 messages like "dude?", "here?" and "are we ok?" within one hour. And you know what? I passed the curse to other people. And still I can see him being added to friend list of other people from time to time. HE FOLLOWS, HE SEARCHES FOR VICTIM. One does not simply laugh at this video if he's familiar with those guy. But this is definitely a like. :-D
You see, that's the problem with modern movies. They are all just cheesy cash-grabs about well-known games or characters. That's why when I start making movies, things are going to change.
I used to work in film and by far the worst kind of production assistant were the film studies grads! All of them thought they were the next Tarantino and too grand to do a sandwich run. We ended up always hiring 18 year old school leavers that were grateful for the opportunity.
I love everything about this, but my favourite moment is the insane smile on Seth's face at 1.37, like he may actually leap up and murder the guy. It's a split second, and the only time I've ever thought that Seth Meyers could actually do harm :-D
As a 20 year old film student named Connor I feel victimized by the accuracy of this sketch.
@Annelise Errico do you want to know my back up plan? if I don't become a filmmaker, I'm gonna be... a HISTORIAN !
Can I get your number?
coincidence? *I THINK NOT!*
Connor Leak oh no 😩😩😂😂
THE CURSE IS REAL!
My ex boyfriend was a film major, and I can guarantee this is 100% accurate.
One time he actually made me watch a whole movie without sound "to better appreciate the cinematography"
I don't think I have to explain why I'm no longer dating him
HailG3 Smh. you’ve suffered enough.
I think we all have flaws, but If there is common life plan and sex is good we stay together :) so please explain "why" If You are so open about your intimate relations with men...
Please tell me that he only subjected you to a silent movie and not something like "The Avengers" on mute
Jean McGee Nope, not a silent movie. It was a western 🙄
I went to a film school that was literally known for creating substance-less films that just looked pretty.
That's why when I get out of film school i'm gonna change the industry.
Lol i like it
😱
Lmfao
The irony lol
See turd Ferguson comment
This was actually genuinely funny. Coming from film school i can relate to a lot of this lol.
Me too I can relate
I am an actor and have encountered people like this while doing student films. However, the most insufferable people are theater people. It's like this but also show tunes! I love film and acting, it sucks that asshats like these make the whole career path look bad

"He stays with me, unless I introduce him to someone else he can talk to. That's how the curse works." LOL
Wow i heard the same thing.
Best line.
@@sicongli6594 Or possible "It Follows" reference.. It's honestly all very unoriginal.
But, you're not going to do that are you?
Sorry man
I lowkey feel like this was an actual situation that happened to one of them, and they're shading it in a skit😅
I think it happens every week to people who work at SNL.
Brittany G. Hehe
Agree 100%
Anyone in the entertainment industry can attest to this
good thing it's just a lowkey feeling, otherwise I'd be scared
As an LA resident, this is accurate.

As another LA resident--and an aspiring filmmaker--I too confirm this to be accurate.
Not just LA, but NY. Actually, they're worse in NY because they're unemployed there.
The real terror of the Film Douche, is not recognizing when you've become one
great user name btw...Norm
Turd Ferguson ☺😅🤔🤣😂👌
my god i’ve become one and i’ve just realized

So, this would be better as a psychological horror about soneone slowly descending into what he or she hates?
As somebody in film school I will be the first to say that EVERYONE is like this. Even the professors. I watch this SNL clip at least twice a month to keep me from detaching from the rest of the world.
how did that work out? did covid play a role?
I never could watch psychological thrillers like these because I was too scared that it would happen to me one day...but then one day on my way to college, on the bus, this man sat next to me and talked the whole 45 minutes about video games and I don't even play video games. Really? I play video games... Would you like to talk about them? 😈
For the most part, no. I've ever been stupid enough to lack that much self awareness. I've always recognized preteniousness when I've seen it.
Once he said "wanna be on my podcast" my eyes widened, I realized this was someone I knew
just need to add that Heidi's not-so-subtle flirting with Brandon at the beginning was also so on point
Haha this is gonna hit some people close to home
Sounds like a bit of projection to me, eh?
sounds like you're projecting a bit Jacob
Who? Nutcases?
bro.... this will trigger folks
Too close to home. I'm the aging film student lol.
I sent the link to this to my friend who’s a filmmaker, and he literally responded “I’ll watch it after I podcast”.

One of the best skits this year. 100% accurate.
Now imagine that instead of it being your dad's friend's kid, YOU ARE ON A DATE WITH THIS DUDE
I love it that in the end its Beck being "attacked" - Kyle's BFF ;)))
tralfama dorian I don’t think two grown men would refer to each other as ‘BFF’ but cute point
Seth Meyers with the serious face acting 😁😁🤣🤣🤣
It’s IT FOLLOWS but scarier
Shit Follows isn't scary...film nerds who tell you the stop motion animation in Jason & the Argonauts is better than anything Weta or Laika do now are friggin' terrifying!
Oh god... He's here!
I _like_ "Jason and the Argonauts"! It's "Star Wars" that ruined Hollywood. Now, if I were making movies....
Purple Turtle a guy in the movie hired a sex worker, but it didn't help for long. Like the people who don't know that they are cursed don't stand a chance, even if they have sex every day.
And with out sex
i love kyle so much
Seriously, seeing him on any skit just makes the whole skit instantly better :D
As someone who's friend group consists entirely of film school students in their 20's, this is painfully true.
When you realize you were once a Conor

Tbh I still think I'm a Connor sometimes 😂
@Dream Delirium I'm so sorry for your troubles. You're free now my child.
Nope.
Gremblo my name is Connor and I’m a film student/aspiring filmmaker. That said, I don’t ever want to be like that guy in the skit! Jesus, that made me cringe!
Omg ......seth Meyers is so good in this act....love everytime he is on SNL
2:13 dang that was a sweet pull zoom, you know why can't more movies DEAR LORD IT'S SPREADING
Underrated comment!!!
Last week I met a guy in a concert, who just kept talking about his singing, how bad the concert is for like 30 min until I ask him, "Hey my phone is dead, can I call home from yours?" He said, "I don't have balance, sorry." And that was it, he turned back and stopped talking.
Side note: why don’t they utilize Melissa more often? They treat her like a secondary cast member.
I'm in love with her. She's incredibly talented yet so underrated.
This is only her second season.
CookerLV *third
Agreed, she is great every time. She is one of my favorites
Heidi Gardner came on the show a year after her and has been in twice as many skits. Not taking anything away from Heidi, she's incredibly talented as well.
As a film student this hits a bit too close to home!!
Whatever kills your ego is good for your personal growth
*_BEST SKETCH of the night!_*
Good sketch but needed some David S. Pumpkins.
Yeah, I was all amped up for a cameo.
That's what I was waiting for.
I think you mean David S. Pimpkins :D
Typical Hollywood. You think you can fix anything just by adding some David S. Pumpkins.
yeah if they dont do david s pumpkins at least once a year im gunna flip a table
2:49 chills man literal chills, the fire left when the curse arrived
As an aspiring filmmaker myself, this was hilarious
In film school I wore a satchel, im not proud of it
about which part? lmao
Indiana Jones wore a satchel
Anthony P He’s not proud of it either
I did too, still proud. Backpacks hurt my back.
Anthony P he also wore a fedora... I see the correlation now 😂
„Just you and me talking.“
Pretty clever. Very meta. 😁
Thats how the talk went when reality tv was new in the mtv era in the 90s. This is mtvs REAL LIFE, so revolutionary, and now everyone are sick of it (anyone with a brain, the rest still watch the bachelor)
Kyle's character is giving me "Jesse Eisenberg in Batman v. Superman" vibes.
Victor Rhams plus Wonder Woman
You mean Jesse Eisenberg in reality, hes just as pretentious and hipster woke in real life
This was great. I love the way Heidi does emotionally wrought.
Their reactions are everything
It's like they looked into my life. Extremely relatable .
“So you left right?” “ I tried “ 😂
that final moment was the best
“A 22 year old aspiring filmmaker...his name is Connor.”
Wow, what a coin-ki-dink!
I hate this sketch
Because it makes me realize I'm Connor.
Same
Admitting it is the first step.
Now go to a meeting maybe?
Go to CA meetings (Connors Anonymous)
The way they were all genuinely terrified 😂😂😂
I always suspected this is how people in the business view people trying to get into the business. Hilarious.
When Mooney was first talking about what was wrong with films, I started to hope they might sneak a "Brigsby Bear" reference in. That film was very atypical and just a really engaging hour and a half.
This was so freaking PERFECT! Oh my God. They nailed the horror theme perfectly.
His movie idea ?
A film about........nothing.
My Dinner with Andre
Seinfeld-esque, obviously, & already "old", or at least, no longer innovative or "fresh", IMO
@@d.dedrick7991 OK, here's the thing, Seinfeld was about "nothing" but it was built around interesting characters and situations. It wasn't just "nothing" and pointless.
i already didn't make that movie.
This was 100% based on a real person's experience. Some theatre majors at my school were just like Connor.
So basically his father used him to get rid of the curse! 🤣
I really like. ..talking to you. 😂
As an aspiring filmmaker myself, I hate it when people say shit like this. First of all, people watch movies to be entertained, and second, no one cares about original ideas if the end result is a dumpster fire of a film
Kyle plays these roles so perfectly!
If you listen very carefully, you can hear millions of film and art students cry.
The genius who wrote this script needs a raise.
This skit was so clever 😂
And while everyone was great of course, I think Melissa Villaseñor did an exceptional job in it 😁
Shes the eye candy lets be honest
Great sketch! This is the kind of stuff SNL should do more often.
this is like a horror story for introverts
Or film school majors.
You know what? It's not funny, cause I was cursed like that. )))
One guy introduced me to a guy from USA (I'm from Ukraine) who wanted to play DnD-like RPG, about 3 years ago. This guy might write 20 messages like "dude?", "here?" and "are we ok?" within one hour. The first funny SNL skit in a long time (other than the cold opens, which are usually great).
Man, they got me when Alex threw up, but I laughed so loud when the hand came down
Not gonna lie, I used to say the same things as the film rookie.
Not gonna lie, I'm still him!!! podcast and everything.
And now you do podcasts?
lol not yet,, but the mindset is similar. its sort of a trajectory i planned
Oh we’ve all been there brother...
lol the curse, Meyers and Beckett's acting is pretty believable as a modern day horror film
who got the "Truth Or Dare" movie plot?
Gm Visuals more like “It Follows”
I thought both of those films just sorta got their plot from “The Ring”
I never seen the movie but yeah I got it
Which 'Truth or Dare' movie? There are like 3
You see, that's the problem with modern movies. They are all just cheesy cash-grabs about well-known games or characters. That's why when I start making movies, things are going to change.
These kind of sketches are the reason why I keep watching SNL. I felt there was a bunch of them in season 42, but they tuned that down since.
I used to work in film and by far the worst kind of production assistant were the film studies grads! All of them thought they were the next Tarantino and too grand to do a sandwich run. We ended up always hiring 18 year old school leavers that were grateful for the opportunity.
This gave me actual shivvers at the end... Lol!
I love everything about this, but my favourite moment is the insane smile on Seth's face at 1.37, like he may actually leap up and murder the guy. It's a split second, and the only time I've ever thought that Seth Meyers could actually do harm :-D
“THERE’S SO MANY!” 😂😂🥰🥰
PROMISE ME YOU'LL NEVER DO THAT TO ME
...
I might actually shove my unfinished screenplay at him.
omg! lmfao that was great!
"I'm so sorry..." "nooooooooooo"
now that is a great sketch!
I really want to say this is by far the most in depth snl skit I've seen so far
Way to set em' off Seth, lmmfao!!
Lol! This was funnier than I expected it would be.
Bro Seth Meyers stare in this skit. He could do some bad guy rolls
I loved this! I actually have a hipster friend just like this guy!
The end gave me a chill.
"That's how the curse works.." 🤣🤣🤣
But wait isn’t this guy everyone on SNL before they got on the show.
Well where do you think they got the idea?
Idk the SNL people usually do standup before getting on the show
That's how the curse works
Soooo good. LOVE this type of satire!
Was waiting for DS Pumpkins to pop up. LOL.
My students need to watch this...
Maybe it's just because they named him "Conor" but I feel personally attacked by Saturday Night Live here 😅🤣😭
There are entire peoples who strive for meaninglessness.
This is probably a good thing for film students to see.
Oh no universities and colleges are about brainwashing not actually learning about yourself and growing
Watching this while attending one of the top schools for aspiring film students hits different
They're all like this
Had me in tears!
Haha ok that was awesome!
Yup. This is my everyday life in LA. I've met these people at every cafe, bar, party, or just random places.
It's incredibly scary how true this is.
I wasn't ready for that 😂😂 💯
Love the Truth or Dare movie reference 🙌 def multi layer script here
That's actually pretty good! True about people that want to make video games too.
"That's how the curse works." I about screamed at that 😂😭
Totally thought this was gonna go down the “met a movie exec in his hotel room” route...this wasn’t much better, but thankfully it was something new!
this needs more views its insanely funny
I REALLY enjoyed this one.
Spot on! (from the UK)
This was beautiful.
This is the scariest thing I’ve ever seen!!!
I'm a creative writing major. It's mostly the same, but more confusing. "Modern" means the 50's. "Post-modern" means the "80's". This is "current".
I’ve had this moment multiple times.
This is so true. I'm terrified of anyone studying drama or film or similar. Just frightens me to no end.
