Along with the papers you get from the government sale you need to start at the state patrol office and request a document from the patrol as to what exactly is needed to register a vehicle as street legal. It may vary from state to state but that will be your bible for your state to make sure you have every needed system working properly on the vehicle before making your appointment to have the car inspected. Keep the 'bible' with ou at time of inspection so you can calmly make a point to the inspector what the state requires for a street legal vehicle. It shows you know your work and don't be sarcastic with them. Most states require seat belts in all seat locations, wipers, headlights, tail lights, the third brake light sometimes, a working defroster for the windshield. Some states might require you to change out the ignitin switch pack for a key controlled ignition switch. Many states will require a door with side windows so be prepared, have your doors mounted ready for inspections. Good luck, if you don't make the cut have them write down all items that failed the inspection, fix them and reschedule an appointment, sometimes there are multiple inspectors and the next one might pass your ride. Don't forget that the hummer is technically a truck and there might be differences in what the state looks for.

The internet and the vast information available on it to learn and educate one's self is not the problem.
The problem is people would rather watch a dog getting screwed by a cat than actually expanding their IQ.

The Vehicle must be inspected, this usually will cost you. They will give you a listing of what passed and what failed. and usually let you know what needs to be done to make the vehicle pass. Every state/province is slightly different, some require a smog test, some won't. The age of the vehicle can also make a difference. Where I live if a vehicle is over 25 years old you can apply for a vintage licence, however there are restrictions that come with that.
Basically they want to make sure that the vehicle is up to government regulations, and that everything works on the vehicle, and that it is safe to drive for you and for the general public.

My tip for a video to be "easy":
    - point the cam to the things people want to see; my guess is: the HUMVEE
    - everything you say is fine - but better if on the screen as well!
actually you can sit @ home, don´t need to freeze and make a voice over with text.

I bought a M-1009 in 2019 in Oregon, and no problem getting the paperwork in California!. The only problem is what county you are going to register the vehicle in!!!. Other than that, the truck is totally stock!. No smog, no computer, 6.2L diesel!, TH400 trans with a NP208 transfer case with 308 gears in the front and rear differentials. At least 24mpg on the freeways, less on the streets!. Never will sell my truck!. your wrong about the SF 97. Most court houses won't except a SF 97. I had to pay for tille from Govplanet $50 versus $150

    • @Kevin24Seven
      @Kevin24Seven  2 года назад

Personally, I don't recommend doing what you did.
In Missouri and many other states, you can go to a highway patrol office and bring a form DOR 551 along with your SF97 where they will perform an inspection which will essentially assign a VIN and give you what you need to take to the DMV and/or mail to your state capital to apply for a title.
If you pay for the Gov Planet title on the other hand it says right on it "for off highway use only"... this can lead to a while world of trouble and unless you are somehow able to pull one over on your DMV or you live in an extremely lenient state, you will probably never have a street legal Humvee.
The easiest option however is probably just spend a little more money and pay Dirt Legal to help you. Its well worth it in my opinion unless you like lots of forms, waiting, re-doing forms, and dealing with confused government employees.

Wisconsin is weird following is from their web site:
The fee for Historic military license plates is $5.
Historic military vehicle registration allows operation to and from special occasions, such as parades, display events, club activities, exhibitions and tours.
Operation is also allowed for occasional personal use as well as testing, maintenance and storage purposes.
The operator of an HMV must have a valid regular driver license; some HMVs may also require the operator to have a valid commercial driver license. The operator must follow all traffic laws.
Vehicles with HMV license plates cannot be used for regular transportation.
HMV plates are valid for as long as you own the vehicle and stay with the person who purchased them when the vehicle is sold.
