Wow, nice to see you enjoying yourselves there. Looking forward to hearing your impressions of this part of the world as considering sailing there solo in the not-too-distant future, and your opinions always seem so rational.
Oook here's a quick objective list of pros and cons.
Pros: amazing tropical places, incredible underwater life in some countries, beautiful weather most of the time (more rainy than the Med), good anchorages, good reliable wind, lovely warm locals that will take time to get to know you.
Cons: hurricane season, strong currents, sticky hot, costly and not-so-awesome produce and food, pricey restaurants/bars (but you can find cheap eats), lack of cultural places to visit.
We prefer it to the Med so far 🙂
Bequia is one of my favorite islands.

One tiny little thing guys. Please wear the kill cord when using the dinghy and perhaps either a life jacket or buoyancy aid. Your lives are precious and sailing single handed might just be too challenging for one..

You guys are so real, such a breath of fresh air, excellent. Crazy unbelieveable manta footage, and wasn't he/she such a show off, lovely.. (must have been a boy but someone will likely tell me I'm wrong...) I'ved free dived with a big manta too but she was much less obliging... (Aliwal Shoals S.A. ) she took off like a rocket but she must have been 12 feet across. Love a ray dive, I've fed Atlantic rays (naughty I know) from a bag of sardines and had a "kiss" on the forehead when I was a little slow in producing a fish... Give all rays a wide berth over their backs because of a potential sting and don't crowd 'em, remember lovely Steve Irwin. Look forward to the next episode, Godbless guys xx.

We get a bit blasé because that is what Queensland is like, without the dogs but with cheaper grocery prices but way more expensive dinghy chaps. You were so lucky to swim with the manta. You may never see that again. I had one come up scratching under my boat. It's wing tips were out of the water on each side. We know how hard it is to make chaps and that was a super cheap price.
We was ready and waiting for your next vlog...as ever you have not dissapointed..great stuff guys!

Wow great video 👍. When in the Carib soak all fruit and vegetables in a lite bleach water mix then rinse. Sailing Project Atticus did a vid on sanitization of veggies in carib. That ocean ray was putting on a show just for you two.. amazing! Your journey there seems worth it. Keep the journey up and fair winds.

Nice video, good underwater shots for the impromptu Manta visit! Well, letting it show you can't be pro at everything is forthright, nice to see although understandably frustrating for you. An alternative and far less expensive way to protect your dingy is to paint it with Latex house paint. Latex paint is pliable and sticks quite well. A coat or two does the trick.
Loved the Manta ray footage, very well done, and very, very lucky to have the opportunity. We're jealous.

Looks like you’re having a fantastic time. I came so close to actually living in Bequia. Back in the 80s my parents almost purchased the ship’s chandlery shop on the island. Unfortunately that never worked out for them, so, alas I have stayed in the US. Someday, I want to at least visit though. I’ve sailed in other parts of the Caribbean and each island has its own magic. Enjoy your stay.

Sailing Kittiwake it’s definitely on my bucket list. However, higher up on the list is going the other way across the Atlantic. I’m preparing Belle Voile for a crossing and then spending time sailing the European and UK coasts and canals. A bad day on a boat beats the best day on land.

Hey Jay, we don't have the qualifications but we have dived a bit before. We love it but it's too expensive for us to even just do one dive x month each. We're thinking of doing a free diving course because once that's done, we can do it on our own for free.
I am excited for you both to have had the chance to swim with the manta. It is truly an amazing experience. In Hawaii they have night dives where you can scuba and watch herds of them swim over you as they pass by. But your manta seemed to be playing with you both. So I guess your title of being worth it...well I guess it was. ;)

That lack of people is, to me, quite a pleasant novelty. Crowds always irritate me dreadfully, so the tranquility of it being unpolluted by humans is lovely, for both hermits like myself and the wildlife.

By pure luck a guy was flying his drone from his boat and decided to take a look at us. He saw the manta on the screen and kept filming, then he rushed over by dinghy to tell us 🙂

Congrats on your first ocean passage, now you are in the tropics I would like to mention the strength of the sun on the dinghy is also super bad for the your skin, especially long term live aboard sailors. I have to retire from sailing after 30 years as my time in the sun has expired. please take care . love the video.

How do you carry enough supplies with you just wondering? Because of Covid-19
We eat long life food when we can't buy fresh. Skua has tons of storage for cans and jars.
Hard part for me when I was in the Caribbean was not jumping in the water every 5 minutes, it just begs you to come on in.
